I wonder what the next scam will be now that he got away with this one. Perhaps this was a test to see how much they can get away with. I dont know if I really want to stick around and find out.

If you can steal 5 million with relative ease why not keep coming back to the easy marks like a blackmailer does.

You assume Pirate is smart.
You assume Pirate had a plan from the beginning.
You assume Pirate planed a fake identity out there.

You assume a lot of things.

Other than the almost obvious fact that he is a thief, why do you not think he is smart?

He was smart enough to steal 5mil, that isn't kindergarten work.

I am just saying that somethings don't add up... you can't say pirate was stupid and will get caught just because you want him to be.

The more you think about it the more things don't add up.

why even allow the PPT? Why not just open up the sub-accounts sooner?

To divert blame to the PPT operators, it's already started.
While possible, it is unneeded.  It isn't like it is a secret where the coins are.  So if you objective were to obtain as much coin as possible then why not do it directly?

What doesn't make sense to me is:

Lets assume:
That it is a ponzi; and
Pirate knew it was winding down; then:

Why drag it out like this?
Pirate obviously had the trendon shavers ID setup so I don't by the 'time to packup' guise.

I get the argument of getting a list of marks (asking for account info); however if he wanted to do that to begin with then why even allow the PPT? Why not just open up the sub-accounts sooner?  Also is it really needed?

There is just a bunch of things that don't add up to the 'HE TOOK OUR COINS!' argument (do that in the south park accent).

boatstat taken down "because of all the mean people in the IRC." I'm guessing.
Or pirate finally packed his computer and is heading out...

He's still logged in, but the botscript seems to have hung or something.

You know what would be hilarious?

If pirateat40 turns out to be just an ELIZA bot with a few scripted events and responses since the default.  Grin

Would be good to see some progress on the payouts front. Why have things stalled at 23?

There never was 23 payouts.

Or because of the compulsive need for people to call it every five minutes even though it never changes.
I just like Matt's funny replies:

I outlived my lifetime membership:)
Interesting.

Looks like Mr. Shavers was having money issues.

It is labor day which is a bank holdiay.  That must be the reason.  I am sure the big payments are coming tomorrow.
We shall see...

I once got scammed by someone named "manipulator". Taught me my lesson back then to not get scammed by this pirate douchebag.

+1 same here; I got scammed by a shady named shades minoco (Andrew Nollan - shakaru), that $200 has left a sour taste in my mouth.
but then again my nickname doesn't look too good either  Roll Eyes

I nearly bought a 2Ghash/s mining contract from that rampant twatsicle.
Very glad I stayed away...

If the FBI considers this an illegal money laundering operation they will just seize any coins under proceeds of crime legislation.

How does one seize a wallet inside a true crypt hidden volume? Or a brain wallet?

How does one seize a wallet inside a True Crypt file?  Imprison the suspect until he or she tells them the password.  Authorities will of course ask for the hidden volume password too (they've not stupid), so the suspect had better be prepared to hand it over too.  I hope they have a hidden volume, as if they don't they can't prove a negative.  What if the suspect refuses?  Hold the suspect in detention until they agree.  Withholding passwords to encrypted information is a criminal offense in some countries (like England).

Brain wallet?  Maybe if the user can memorise the entire wallet.dat.

They really don't even have to do that. In many fraud cases, sentences are reduced if the criminal cooperates and returns funds. If he's convicted, lock him up for 10 years, or 5 if he returns the money.

So, what you're saying is, for years 6-10, he's earning ~$1mil per year?

IF it turns out to be a ponzi he will have a lot less than 5 million left. That is just how ponzis work.
Will he?
Do we actually know how much he took in? I'd wager it was over 500k.

Pleas lock this thread and update it only, when someone sends you a PM confirming he has received the stolen BTC.

Even better, start a new thread and rename this one to something it deserves Smiley "Old women at the market...." ?

It is good to see that people are finally starting to realize that pirated40 did not just fuck those who invested in his scam but everyone who uses Bitcoin.
We all got fucked by this asshole pirateat40. Every btc miner, every btc enthusiast, every person who likes BTC.

It is evident all over this community atleast. Apparent in the posts of usually objectionable people who have turned against their fellow bitcoiners......
