In order to become partner with regularized businesses they need to introduce KYC and this is what we are watching centralized exchanges doing the same thing. Absolutely true they adopted Monero's code to assure maximum privacy and didn't assumed what they can confront and now they are going against the fundamental rules introduced by them. On the other hand good thing is they are giving time to people to sell or move their ETN those don't want to share their documents. I also have sold out and keep little on exchange continuously.

I think Kyc goes against some of the reasons why bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were created, if you have a small balance you can just do level 1 kyc and withdraw.
Nevertheless, it is the only way governments can make their impacts on crypto ecosystem.
Local authorities don't want to stay outside without any action.
I guess this is why KYC launched to control crypto ecosystem at somewhat extents.

IF every cryptocurrency should be as bitcoin than there is no need to have other cryptocurrencies at all. People that want to have a have a copy of bitcoin should
just stay with Bitcoin, easy and simply as that.

I personally like different approaches by different crypto currencies. If someone isn't fine with KYC than indeed currencies like Monero and an exchange like tradeorgre are
a better fit. And for people like me, that don't have problems with KYC and aim for a mass adoption currency are fine with ETN, again easy and simple as that.

I have to agree with this. While I won't do KYC before I am ready to cash out, a lot of people took this as really great news, feel more comfortable with it like everything is clean and in turn with regulations.

I just don't like how shady it was, it took everyone by surprise, I think it would've been better if they announced it before they started implementing it.

I logged into my web wallet and there are no coins it's empty with some message to give them government ID's and my balance is 0. Says they locked my wallet to upgrade to payment system or something. Whats' going on why are my coins not available?
I would not risk to give my identity or any identification documents just to create your own wallet. Stay away from ETN. Shady and risky.

Most likely associated with fiat money, if you do not transfer money to fiat, then you can not do.

Can anybody suggest the ETN mining pool with low difficulty? (not more 5000) This is needed for CPU mining.

Hm, I think you're better off mining Monero with your CPU at this point. ETN is dominated by ASICs and you won't be able to compete with them.

I am aware the white-paper says otherwise:

Quote
We have deliberately avoided using
a blockchain that can be mined with
super powerful ASICs (the way all
Bitcoin are mined) and created a
blockchain that can be mined with
CPUs, which enables the AVERAGE
person to get involved.

However, the ETN team decided to allow ASICs a few months ago. If you wish to be able to collect ETN you may try using the mobile miner (airdrop) instead.

Obviously they don't want AVERAGE people to get involved in issuing new coins

If I have some amount of Electroneum on paper and CLI wallet, should I pass KYC? And what will happen if I will not do it?

No, you don't need KYC for paper / CLI wallet.

You need to pass KYC only if you use their proprietary mobile or web wallet. This is the reason I transferred my ETN coins elsewhere and deleted the mobile wallet.

I was thinking about the mobile miners . If they mine on the same account they have all their funds then they will be in a hassle to do kyc level 2. But then I thought they can have another account to mine with only level 1 and not worry about lvel 2. But yeah we will see what happens!!

Thanks for explanation. Now I see, why the ETN diff goes up and the price fall down almost at the same time. ASICs threw another coin into shit Sad

Hi to all.
Maybe this is wrong thread, so I'am sorry in advance...
Can anybody suggest the ETN mining pool with low difficulty? (not more 5000) This is needed for CPU mining. With the current diff on the most pools (min 240k) the cpu's can't handle even 1 share within 4-5 hours Sad
Thanks in advance.
