It certainly wasn't that the players were thinking about the World Cup, because Sporting will only have 2 or 3 players in the World Cup.

Famalicao - Sporting is very boring game. Well, maybe it's not worth to expect top class football in such heavy rain and probably some Sporting players minds in World Cup already. Sporting solved everything in the end of 1st half by scoring 2 goals. And after that there was some tension when Sporting player made dirt foul against Famalicao player, IMO he had to get red card for it. Fortunately things haven't turned into mass fight.
After this win Sporting is getting closer to Porto and Braga, but gap to Benfica is huge. Benfica goes into Wolrd Cup break with comfortable lead.

Benfica performance both here and in the Champions League is a clear indicator for me that most likely they will win the Liga Portugal and if I remember correctly they will be facing Club Brugge which is the "easiest" team compared to all other teams right now in the Champions League and most probably they can go far even in the Champions League during this season.

They in Liga Portugal are the most consistent team so it is only natural for them to end the season as winners but there is a lot of time until then.

Rio Ave beat Arouca by one goal. Initially I thought about the victory of Rio Ave, but then I ended up choosing the draw.
In the case of Porto, I thought that Boavista would cause more difficulties, but in the end the result was 1-4 with Porto winning.

Therefore, Benfica has to start losing points in 2 or 3 games to be caught by Porto. Which at the moment doesn't look like it will happen, as Benfica is playing very well this season.

honestly speaking, betting on braga in this game is high risk, they dropped a lot and I don't understand what happened to them, I had high hopes that they would compete with benfica for who would stay at the top, but they started to drop in performance and I didn't it will be surprising if they lose in this game, because the moreirense are not weak, I do not bet on this game

Braga will still play with Moreirense today, but at the moment I don't even know if betting on Braga's victory is viable or not. They are playing very badly.

Benfica thrashed Estoril 5-1. Thus solidifying the first place in the championship. It was the 11th victory in 12 matches for Benfica in the Portuguese League.
Two of the goals were scored by 19-year-old central defender Antonio Silva. The doubts now that arise is whether he will go to the World Cup, since he has never played in the national team.

Today we had another surprising result in the Portuguese League, Casa Pia beat Braga 0-1.
Casa Pia, is having an extraordinary season, continues in fourth place in the championship. A position that few expected, from a team that has just reached the first division.

Seems that all teams from Big 3 had easy round. Porto 4:0 Pacos De Ferreira. When you're worst team in league and concede at Dragao on 4th minute, there is not mutch hope left to achieve positive result.
Sporting 3:0 Vitoria Guimaraes. I watched game and red card that Vitoria got in the middle of 1st half was decisive moment. After that Sporting started to dominate completely. A bit relief for Ruben Amorim.
Benfica leading Estoril 3:0, and it's just halftime. Most interesting result this round is Casa Pia win against Braga away. I still don't beleive that they can perform so well all season long and sooner or later their shape will go down, but seemst that not yet.

FC Porto won 4-0 against FC Paços de Ferreira. The first goal was at 4 minutes by Evanilson and he managed to score twice before the break, and in the first half Taremi also scored. In the second half, Delgado (from Paços de Ferreira) scored an own goal.

At the moment they don't have to worry about the UCL, because it's already past and the next games will only be for February.
Now Benfica will try to score as many points as possible until the World Cup break. And I believe that they will hardly lose points until then.
Sometimes the danger is that they go into the game with less motivation, or with overconfidence. But Benfica's coach has managed this situation well.

Guimarães is a very strong team and always difficult, and in turn we have Sporting in a very weak phase of the season. They have lost games theoretically much easier than Guimarães. That's why it's the team I have the most doubts about winning, Sporting.

It looks like all the bigs are going to win their games in this weekend.I have absolutely no doubt about Benfica,compared to other Portuguese teams they look like they are on another planet and most likely they will end the season as Champions of the Primeira Liga but there is time until then.I also think that Porto will have an easy game since they are playing at home and lately they have been also doing well in the Champions League as they won their middle week game with a tennis result.The only game I am not sure is Braga which maybe will have difficulties to win while also Sporting I think will continue to win here.

This week highlight the following games:

Paços de Ferreira always tends to make life difficult for big clubs, but Porto must get a victory, something they really need so they don't stand out even more from the first place.

Sporting vs Vitória Guimarães
