Porto won in the most crucial match of the week. We have to say that neither team could get into many positions. Although Benfica played more with the ball, they couldn't win the match. To be honest, I didn't expect Benfica to play so badly. maybe they didn't focus much on this match because they were focused on the Inter match they were going to play during the week. The more important game for them is to win the Inter game. With this win Porto reduced the points difference with Benfica to seven.

Winning that match against Benfica away was a really good success for Porto indeed. It was crucial for them to increase their chance to catch up with them. But I don't think there is a big increase though. Because the point gap is still seven points while we are entering last seven weeks in the season. Porto really need some kind of a miracle to take the lead from Benfica from now on. They will hope for Benfica's form to start getting worse thanks to this loss which is not likely in my opinion.

Benfica are still a part of the Champions League as well but I think they can still continue to keep the balance between two tournaments. I think Benfica's huge effort really deserves the Liga Portugal title this season.
It wasn't most beautiful game, none of teams haven't showed something extraordinary, but Porto were a bit better. Don't want to go into conpiracy theories like in post above because for it I would need to have some kind of evidence. Now gap between teams is 7 points, Porto still keep minimal hope, but they need miracle. Porto schedule is easier, Benfica is going to face Sporting and Braga. Even if they will lose both games, it's just 6 points, not enough. And Porto don't have right to make mistakes.
I agree as Porto were better team and Benfica players were not in game even they take early lead but from their side nothing positive were happening and most of the time Porto were looking better team which happen at the end with their win with the score of 1 - 2 with this win now they have difference of five points from third spotted team Braga and having seven points difference from Benfica which is at the top of league table and most chances will win this title in current year seven matches left which mean most chances we are going to have no changes in league table while these teams are going to have same places and Benfica and Porto are going to be direct entry in Champions League with Braga go into qualification round as well.

Didnt expect a win from Porto in this away game against Benfica. We know how good Benfica is this season and for me this wasnt expected. Porto with this win has some chances to try and win the title. Benfica had a match point for the title but wasnt able to take it

Portuguese league seems like a league in which manipulation has been in place for years, look at the case of porto, see how porto has been winning games in a strange way, and see how benfica's game against porto was, it didn't even seem that the players of benfica had any interest in winning the game, benfica's performance was not a normal performance, it even looked like a team that before the game had been told to play badly and lost the game, the big teams like benfica and porto seem to always play manipulating the results, maybe I'm wrong, but anyone who observes the Portuguese league well will come to this kind of conclusion

well, we'll see what the theater will be like in the next games, maybe benfica will start with a losing streak for porto to win and for porto to win the referees will give many red cards and penalties to all porto's opponents, i said months ago that benfica profits from selling players and that when it comes to winning the league I don't think they make an effort, there have been many times when they were better than porto and other teams but in the end they started to lose out of nowhere and porto miraculously became champion, the result of today's game is not even something surprising, Is a Déjà vu

In my opinion, the most likely thing that happened was what I commented on until just before the game:
First, Benfica will play against Inter for the Champions League in only 4 days, so they might save some players or hold back a bit in order not to get too tired, since the next match is much more important.
Second reason is that already having 10 points of advantage and with the above reason, Benfica's team may not have as much motivation for this game as Porto's team.

I have no conclusion whether there is something going on of the kind you are talking about, but I suspected that the match could be won by Porto mainly due to the fact that Benfica will play in 4 days a VERY important match against Inter. The players must be thinking only about this match.

The distance between the two teams is 7 points, still quite a lot considering that there are 7 matches left for each of the two teams, still 21 points at stake.
I think that only a tragedy can take away Benfica's title, but it's important to observe how far the team goes in the Champions League because this can influence the results a lot and another fact to consider is that Benfica still has 2 difficult matches left against Sporting and Braga.

almost impossible to see Benfica losing title bearing in mind that they lost total of 10 points in previous 27 rounds

Well I never thought Porto to be able to turn things around after they conceded a goal early and playing at Benfica home, yet here we are with just 20 minutes to go and the result is 1-2 for Porto now. Both teams will play in Champions League so I think it does not impact the game of each team and they are giving it all for this game, while Benfica has the luxury of not caring much if they lose a game as they are still leading the Liga Portugal comfortably as they are still 7 points ahead of Porto and the game is not over yet and most probably Benfica will draw, anyway whatever happens Liga Portugal is most likely already won by Benfica and as such even if they lose this game nothing will really change in here.
Interesting game both teams played 1-1 draw in the first half and the second half FC Porto took the lead, was even thinking Benfica can over turn the score but that didn't happen, I predicted Benfica to win this game because they have really been in a good form, and they where the home team, so was thinking that will be of more advantage to them, but football is very unpredictable. FC Porto is very good side  also, they are not easy to play but was thinking Benfica will get the better result today.

not sure how this result will settle for Benfica prior to important QF match with Inter (that also lost points to Salernitana, and has a tougher position to join CL next season from league, since it will be pretty tough to enter top4 with this form)

all goals scored by Porto, first own goal, and than a turnaround to win it, but they are still 7 points behind Benfica, seven rounds to go, almost impossible to see Benfica losing title bearing in mind that they lost total of 10 points in previous 27 rounds, but derby victory is always important

This week a very important match will be waiting for us in terms of the course of the league. In the Benfica-Porto match, if Benfica wins the match, we can say that they are the definite champions. There is currently a 10 point difference between them and Porto and this difference will be 13 if Benfica wins. Braga will also wait for Porto to lose as they are following Porto closely. If porto loses this week and braga wins, they will take the 2nd place.
Just few minutes ago we have early start of 27th round with Leaders Benfica hosting Porto at Estádio da Luz Lisbon due to Benfica commitments in Champions League which is going to play on 11th April against Inter here on same stadium start is good for the host club as they have early lead through Costa own goal and now lead is 13th points which mean now title is under their control with just 7 matches remaining in this season.

Right now, we are in 24th minute of this game, if Benfica able to hold this lead and Porto lost this match then most chances they will lose second spot with Braga is having easy game against struggling Estoril which is fighting hard for staying into League for another season after having poor performance in throughout season.

I think this is a great bet, at least for me, Braga, Sporting and Arouca victories, let's see if I'm lucky

Historically, these types of games are really difficult to predict who will win or how the result will look.

The odds are even better for Benfica victory right now.
In my opinion Porto has chances to beat Benfica, and I see two good reasons.
If Porto can get a win, the difference would decrease to 7 points, it would still be far away, but can spark some hope.
An eventual defeat would practically cancel the title chances since the difference would go to 13 points.

If I had to bet on this game, I would bet on a 1-goal game.
I can't wait to watch it, I'll be able to see it on ESPN.

In my bookmaker, the odds for Benfica victory are 1.94 against 3.75 for Porto, I thought the odds would be more balanced.
I think I won't risk in this match hahaha. In this kind of match with 2 great teams I usually only bet when my team is playing to increase the fun, but it's pretty hard to guess a match like this, good luck with your choice.  Cheesy

Historically, these types of games are really difficult to predict who will win or how the result will look.

Porto will probably try to make the game harder, to break the technical moves that Benfica promotes. Benfica, on the other hand, will try to control the game and cause imbalance in order to reach Porto's goal. The probability of a draw is very high, even so Porto can surprise. Despite thinking that Benfica has everything to win.

Actually, betting on almost every league is quite easy for me (especially Europe's top 5 leagues), as long as we know when is the right time to bet on a team match that is being favored. Moreover, betting on a team that is clearly superior in securing the championship title or even for a team that is currently competing for the UCL zone. But I think betting on the Portuguese league is like a challenge and even though I'm still new here, I really enjoy it.

I have some knowledge in the major championships, Spanish and English mainly. Italian, Portuguese and French I'm learning how to bet, it's funny because every league has its own particularities.
I'll try to do more multi bets with Portuguese league + Brazilian championship

For Porto vs Benfica, right now I still don't have a pretty good view of this match. However, if we look at the odds offered by the bookie, here it is clear that Benfica is very favored even though they are guests, but still in this match Porto will be the host. Of course it's very risky in my opinion if we bet entirely on Benfica's victory. In my opinion, even though this match was very fierce, it didn't seem like too many goals were created. Benfica's chances of winning are slim, but a draw or Porto winning is a very big percentage in my opinion. So I will take a handicap bet (1) for Porto's advantage, even though the odds are quite small, but it's much safer and doesn't take too big a risk.

I will, but not on Porto vs Benfica  Grin

A multi with 3 bets in victories of Arouca, Braga and Sporting is paying 4.25, maybe I'll go in this bet, I have a day to think

Sporting drew away to Gil Vicente and dropped 2 points. This is an important loss for them. Because they needed to be 3rd in order to qualify for the Champions League next year and with this draw, the point difference with Braga has dropped to 5. This point difference with Braga can be closed, it is not a high difference, but when you lose points in such matches, you reduce the chances of closing this difference. It makes no sense that they finished without scoring a goal in a match they played well.

Sorry guys, I seem to have scrolled the page too quickly so I didn't see that you've tagged my username. Grin
My multibet is mixed with matches from other leagues.

No problem hehehe
Did you stay with the multiples bet until the end?
Because it seems to me that Benfica ruined your bet by winning by only 1 goal difference.
But your bets are still very good.
I don't really like betting on goals under or over, I can't get a good prediction, mainly because several teams can score a goal and not bother trying to score more goals anymore in the match.

This last round (26) I ended up not placing any bets because I didn't think it was ideal, but next round I'll be back.
It's interesting to do multiples in more leagues, but I'm trying to focus here on the Bwin league because I find it easier at the moment.

Does anyone have the courage to make a prediction of the Porto vs Benfica match?  Cheesy

True, I lasted until the end and was quite annoyed with Benfica's victory, which could only narrowly beat Rio Ave. It was far from my expectations, which usually Benfica did by always scoring more than 2 goals in every game, but even so my bet was still quite safe because I didn't lose all the money and only got a little profit as a result of losing half of it. Smiley

Next Wednesday, we will still have the delayed game of the 25th round: Gil Vicente vs Sporting
What are your guesses?

If Sporting wins, it will only be 3 points from 3rd place (Braga), increasing the competition until the end of the season.

We left behind another week in which none of the teams in the championship race were defeated and did not lose points. We can say that Benfica actually became the champion, but anything can happen in football. There are 8 weeks left and we can say that the points difference is 10, a difference that can be closed.Braga beat their strong rival 4-1 at home.I should mention that bruma scored 2 goals in the last minutes.Bruma was a good transfer for braga and continues to score goals.I think Fenerbahçe regrets sending him away.
