I ordered 3 copies because I want one for myself and 2 of them in places where others can read them for free. Universities and libraries come to my mind when I think about the possibilities.

Leave one at the dentists office.
Thats a good idea.  I think the dentist's office is the last place that I touched a magazine.

As for Bitcoin Magazine, I suspect this first issue will soon become a valuable collectors item if Bitcoin reaches even a fraction of its potential.

Everyone I've talked to has ordered 2 copies for that exact reason.

I like the pixelation and the jpg artifacting on the image you blew up to magazine size, very Minecraft-esque.

Glad you approve!

Actually it's a screen shot from InDesign. The real deal is 300 dpi.

Well done! I'm in for 12+1 printed issues + gift.

This is a win-win for every bitcoiner: if BTC/USD tanks next week, this was a cheap subscription; if it skyrockets to 1000$ this year, the 18.5BTC will make it the most expensive ever - but with some more coins in the wallet it won't hurt too much  Wink

Good Luck!

PS.: Frankly spoken, after lots of mining and reading about Bitcoin, this was my first purchase with BTC. And it went like a charm. No problems ordering to Switzerland, withdrew payment from MtGox, got it accepted two seconds later. Great service, Bit-Pay! Makes me think: why is it not yet used everywhere?

You're asking the right questions. This is one thing I hope the magazine can help out with. People are worried about representation (and some are frankly not that good at it) in the Bitcoin community as we are by nature a decentralized community. The problem with that is that decentralization also breaks up communication and sharing to a degree and you will find companies, products and services that are both underpublicized or less than professionally presented.

Since I am a quality junkie and a perfectionist, I will do me best to work with every company that works with the magazine to not only share our resources and learn from them, but to help bring them up to better standards and raise the bar for the whole community.

We can do this, as a community. Bitcoin Magazine can help.

He wants to remain anonymous with regards to bitcoin usage. Perhaps he lives in Italy?

I lol'ed.

I still want to buy this magazine with fiat (VISA or Mastercard).
Is there no way to do this?

Not trolling, actually curious-- wouldn't providing a mailing address to receive the magazine also be stripping you of your anonymity?

We'll see if we can get additional payment methods set up but if you tell me what country you're in, I could probably tell you where to buy the magazine once it is public.

That's some funny shit.

Maybe you could watermark the downloadable PDF files, www.phparch.com has been doing that with their issues.

It simply contains the customers name etc. at the bottom of every x page, maybe with some hidden water marks also.

Can still be given away to friends, but you cant really dump it on a torrent site without removeing all watermarks, and wondering if you got them all...

The digital buy button is greyed out, but I take its because its not ready yet ?
I would gladly pay 20$ for a DRM free PDF file, watermarked or not.
That's a good idea.  It still won't stop pirates (easy to remove any text from a PDF doc with the right software), but it would slow them down to an extent.  Fewer people will go through the trouble of sharing it online if it means they have to download PDF editing software to do it.  It'll take longer for pirated versions to get posted on torrents, etc.

Regarding DRM--- The unofficial direction we're started to push towards is:

1) A version for kindle that is 95% similar to the print version as per their requirements
2) An Apple newsstand version that is also 95% similar to the print version but less than 95% like the Kindle version
3) An Android version that is also 95% similar to the print version but less than 95% like the kindle or Apple versions.
4) A web version downloadable in PDF or viewable on the site that is less than 95% like the Kindle, Apple, or Android versions.

Regarding languages:

A) An English print version printed and distributed in USA and mailable internationally.
B) A German digital version distributed separately.
C) A Spanish digital version distributed separately.
D) An Italian digital version distributed separately.
E) A Portuguese digital version distributed separately.

We will expand as allowed and these are all long term goals. Just thought everyone would want to know which way the wind is blowing.

Just purchased.

PS: I have loathed DRM since before many members of this community were born.
