The only game of today in the EPL is Newcastle-Aston Villa. Newcastle are only 1 point ahead of the relegation area and they are in a big danger of relegating. They got really bad results in their last 4 games. Aston Villa on the other hand are not in such situation but they have also the possibility to be able to qualify for the EL as they are 8 points away from West Ham. But considering their recent form, it looks really difficult. In this season, Aston Villa beat Newcastle 2-0. But there is a really interesting thing that Aston Villa haven't beaten Newcastle away since 2005.  Cheesy  I wonder whether they will manage to stop their bad luck in this.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the two teams that can play the final. Maybe PSG could be also be considered but those teams look the most solid and organized to reach the final and fight for the title. Honestly I would love to see the citizens winning CL. They would really deserve it.

With this dedication and great performance, City really can make it to the championship in the Champions League. I think the most challenging teams that have the power to stop them are only PSG and Bayern Munich. Unless City loss their focus, they have also the power to move them out of their way.
I agree with you...just look at what they are doing in the premier league...a great perforrmans besst attack and defence as they scored 61 goal and take only 21 goal in 29 round and thats really awesome in a compotition like premier league

As expected Manchester City is back on track again after yesterday's win with Southampton! There is a huge abyss of 14 points (with one game ahead of Manchester United) that they need to control to raise the premiership trophy at the end of the season. Will they also be able to reach the final in Champions League?

Yes, there is a gigantic gap with Manchester Utd and Manchester City are getting closer to guaranteeing the EPL championship mathematically too. They will carry most of their focus to the CL and they are one of the favorites to win the cup as they are performing really well there too. As long as we don't see an early final like City-PSG or City-Bayern, City have a very big possibility to get to the final.
I agree with you and i believe that city this year can do somthing good in the champoins league...the best secnario is beating bayern or psg in the next round...this will give em a real mental bost for the rest of the competetion

In the EPL league, I believe Mancity will still be in power even though yesterday they lost to Man United, their points are still very different and now Mancity is on a good track especially by beating Southampton 5-2.
In the champions league, Mancity has already scored over 2 goals and next week playing at home this is something that must be taken from his victory after the seriousness in the EPL maybe the EUFA will be the target of the champions too.

I thought Manchester City would cleanly win the match but they conceded two goals and one goal almost but ruled out for offside. Saints did very well yesterday considering the injuries they were having and the team they were facing yesterday. Few teams have scored more than 1 goals against City this season and Saints are the one now. Everyone knew that they would drop points and so they did. With that win City inch closer to title and Saints drop to 14th.

Southampton did whatever they can and did a good job by scoring 2 goals. But they had really nothing to do against this City and they still were destroyed with a 5-2 score. It shows that City weren't affected by the loss in the previous game at all. It was hard to pick the man of the match as De Bruyne, Mahrez and Foden all had great performances.
Honestly it feels like the game could have been even more goals, I like Southampton and all, they have crypto related sponsorship too, and that is why I like them but they were horrible, well nearly all teams that played against City play horrible, they won 22 out of 23 games so far and that seems like the best type of record there is, that means City is just way too good.

There were few positions by Foden and Ilkay that I can remember that could have been a goal, and I think the move to Foden was a penalty as well, goalkeeper clearly tackles his feet and that matters, dude lost all his balance he could have scored that goal easily normally, so there is at least 3 positions that could have been goals but got unlucky and that is on top of that 5 goals there is. That shows you there is a reason why Southampton had 9 goals once every year lol.

besides even if Manchester City draw or lose games it doesn’t really matter, the other contenders will drop more points than Manchester City.

What makes you think it is fine for Manchester City to lose one or two matches? or United going to lose and drop more potential points ? If Manchester City lose their next game for example, the point gap between United and City will be closer. This means there is a higher motivation for United to win their next one because they are one step closer to City.

Besides that, winning 6 times in a row would be benefical for Manchester City because that means they will be crowned as the Champions of EPL and City can switch their focus on the Champions League instead. There is no point for them to prolong this if they can keep it simple and win their remaining matches

The game ended 5 - 2 and Manchester City has bounced back magnificently from their home loss to Manchester United; they are now 6 wins away from being crowned champions, are they gonna win 6 in a row ? or flop their lines ? Can Manchester United mount enough pressure ? We will find out!

Manchester City will get the required points to become champions. They don’t need 6 wins in a row, besides even if Manchester City draw or lose games it doesn’t really matter, the other contenders will drop more points than Manchester City.

-snip-

There are still 2 big matches against Leicester City and Chelsea. It is too early to say if Man City will win all remaining matches. While other weaker teams, I am pretty sure that Man City will win all the matches. However, although Man City only wins 5 remaining matches, I think it is enough to make Man City be the winner of the Premier League title this season. Not really necessary to win 6 matches in a row.

meanwhile for Man United,

Manchester United FC - West Ham United FC
Manchester United FC - Brighton & Hove Albion FC
Tottenham Hotspur FC - Manchester United FC
Manchester United FC - Burnley FC
Leeds United AFC - Manchester United FC
Manchester United FC - Liverpool FC
Aston Villa FC - Manchester United FC
Manchester United FC - Leicester City FC
Manchester United FC - Fulham FC*
Wolverhampton Wanderers - Manchester United FC

*Fulham will fight against the relegation. You guys know right how powerful bottom teams near the end of the season  Grin
And yes, Man City is already the champions of the EPL.

Their next matches against:
1. Fulham
2. Leicester City
3. Leeds United
4. Aston Villa
5. Chelsea
6. Brighton
7. Everton

5 wins wont be enough if the other matches are loses. City still has 9 matches remaining while United and Leicester still has 10 matches remaining. Mathematically speaking, if City wins 5 only out of 9 while the other 4 are loses then their final points will be 68+15 = 83. On the other side, if United wins all the remaining matches then their final points will be 54+30= 84. Indeed it is almost impossible to happen but it is just about winning calculation by simple math. To make it simple, City needs 17 more points so even if United win all their remaining matches then City is still the Champion as they have +1 final points if they gets additional 17 points while United get 30 additional points.

But in my opinion, the 17 points needed by City to be the winner are not that difficult if you see the team's performance which is quite stable so far. United also may not win all the remaining matches, so City has a great opportunity. Extra hard work for United to overtake City, and they must continue to create their strategies in order to be winners. Because one strategy is wrong, they must be satisfied enough to be runner-up.

City scored 5 times and won the match like we all foresaw, it is true that they conceded too much to Southampton but that is fine. The aim was to get the three points and keep the distance from Manchester United.
Guardiola can now focus on Champions League

The reason that they conceded 2 goals could be Southampton's victory against Sheffield and boosting their morale. But still it was a huge win for City. Anyway, City are very confident about the EPL championship and I believe they already started focusing more on the CL. Winning the CL is also their aim, I suppose.

This is the season as both Real Madrid and Barcelona are out of the Champions and they have higher chances now to do well.

There are still some tough teams left. Round of 16 are still undergoing but all of those teams qualified are tough teams. City has the tradition of choking at the quarters or semis in CL. Last season it was Lyon and Lyon wasn't even a difficult team but yet they lost to them. Guardiola this needs to ensure that everyone goes according to his plan. They are already 2-0 ahead of Gladbach but they need to ensure that they don't let the advantage loose in second leg.

They are already focused there. They have already secured the qualification for the next round and are already Champions of the Premier League. They will try really hard in the Champions as they have tried many times to do something good but so far they could not. This is the season as both Real Madrid and Barcelona are out of the Champions and they have higher chances now to do well.
