I think that Tottenham players got their confidence that without Harry kane they can win big teams, had it been kane played there is a chance that they might lose or draw, because psychologically kane mind will be diversified and might not focus very well on the pitch, I can see that he's keen to leave Tottenham, In my opinion I don't think kane will be much needed in City squad, he might not be having a regular play time as he does in Tottenham if he eventually moved to City
I also think that Tottenham should already start building their game regardless of Kane's participation. Of course, everything happens in this world and Tottenham can really hold the entire championship at a high level and win the title and Kane may regret very much that he left or tried very hard to leave the club, but let's be honest that the current Tottenham is inferior in the selection of players to its main competitors and will not be able to keep the advantage at a long distance. Therefore, Tottenham can certainly win some cup, as Leicester did, but I do not think that the title of winners of the Premier League can be submitted to the club, because the presence of one Kane is clearly not enough.

We have left the first week of the new season behind. Except one of them, all of the favorite teams for the title started the season with very good results. But City didn't have a good start as they were defeated by Tottenham 1-0. But I believe that they will gather themselves up quickly. Manchester City started badly in the last season but became the champions very easily. Let's see what's going to happen this time.
All the big clubs In the Premier League won their first Premier League matches except Manchester City. Tottenham won them without Kane playing the match. Manchester City will possibly  belt up quickly and maybe win their next match which is against Norwich City, I think they are good and would have draw against Tottenham. They won the EPL season last season, but they don't have to start this season like they did last season.

How do I change my vote on this topic? I voted for Man City but watching the game today I do not think they will win the league any more I think Chelsea or Manchester United will be favs.
Bump Tongue
I started regretting my vote since Chelsea got Lukaku and ManU getting Varane while knocking Leeds with 5 goals, but today was fantastically awful to see City losing vs Spurs which played without Kane mind you Lips sealed
They didn't even score a goal. What a disappointing start of the season. I still think they might get a chance to get the title again although my confidence dropped from +90% to like 50%...

Sometimes I see a lot of other teams like that with good early wins but on the way to being shaky before also Liverpool, Mancity, ManUnited etc. they have started from bad to good and vice versa, so it's a new season if Spurs can keep up like certainly going to be a great team at the top.

Son's game was still brilliant with his single goal, this is a good honor because statistically it is very different from Mancity, while Pep is still relying on Jack Grealish, indeed many chances on finishing are still bad.

Definitely. At Liverpool, we've had our own fair share of bad turnouts after the first couple of games. I remember a couple of seasons ago when we were this close to winning the league but we backslided after the second half of the season started. Anyway, the season is just starting so a lot more would unfold in the next couple of matchdays. I'm just looking forward to how all the big teams would fare after the first 5 games. It would give an insight on who the title contenders are. Regardless of today's loss, my money is still City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea and not even Tottenham.

Man city was shit. Tottenham looked the best we have seen them for a couple of years if they can keep us that form I do not see any reason why they would not finish in the top 4.
Tottenham usually starts that way at the beginning of each season and then they begin to backslide with each passing matchday. Let's just watch, their stunning performance will start deteriorating in the coming games. However, if they can maintain this form and continue maintaining the consistency, they might compete for at least one trophy this season - maybe enough to convince Kane to sign a new contract but that's if he doesn't make a move before the transfer window closes.

Overall, it was good to see Tottenham smashed everyone's expectations by thumping on the reigning champions.

It's not surprising to see Aston Villa struggling after selling Jack Grealish to Manchester City. He was their most critical player and had a big role on their successes. Today, they couldn't resist Watford. Watford made the score 3-0. Aston Villa managed to decrease the goal difference to 1 but they couldn't prevent themselves from losing 3-2. It must be good for Watford to start with a victory in the EPL.
Well, I partially agree with your view with regards to Aston Villa performance against Watford, however this is just a start of the season majority of the clubs in EPL had not pick form except the top teams, the fact that Villa sold Grealish shouldn't be used as the yardstick that the club will struggle this season, football is a team work not based on individual, there are other players who might perform well and put the team in a better position on the table, the fact that Arsenal lost their match yesterday shouldn't be also used to judge them, I still believe that the losing clubs will go back to drawing board and make amendments.

You are right. Maybe it is too early to say that Aston Villa will go on like this for the rest of the season. Grealish was their most important player and they lost him. But if they maintain the team work, they can still have a good season. They just need to focus on every single match in the EPL.

Tottenham and Manchester City match will be a very tricky and interesting match to watch, I think this match might end in a draw, Tottenham are at home and there is a high chance of them scoring, one the other hand with the line up that Manchester City has its very likely they score too, both teams to score or Manchester City win or draw will be a good bet for this match

Eagerly waiting to watch this match. And the match will start only after 1 hour. But Harry Kane may not play today. We may not see De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus today. Yet this match is very important for both teams. Their first match of the season. Both teams will want to score 3 points.
Suprise to see that both teams did not score, city had more shots on target than Tottenham, and they ought to have put at least one at the back of the net, lots of gamblers will loose due to this match no one see it coming, just one goal and Tottenham won, wow that's astonishing
I was also expecting goals galore from both sides but luckily it was Tottenham that scored the only goal of the encounter, the match was quite entertaining and competitive from the start to finish, the spotlight was majorly on Grealish who was expected to make an impact on his debut, unfortunately was just average in his performance, kudos to Tottenham against all odds without Harry Kane proved soccer analyst and pundits wrong performed excellently well, all the 11 players were outstanding throughout the duration of the match.

Is there anything better than City splashing millions in the transfer market and then losing in the 1st game of the season? Grin

I was thinking the same thing.  Watching City lose is almost as good as seeing Arsenal win most of the time, but after blowing a fortune on a striker who doesn't strike...  Priceless.

Tottenham Hotspurs did look good in the second half, though.  They flipped the script on City, which isn't easy to do.  The whole team looked good, and that goal by Son was flawless.  It must have felt extra good for that kid after all the press had written of Tottenham without Kane.  And to do it against the reigning champs must have his spirits up tonight.

Sometimes inflated odds say a lot... For example, in the final match of the Champions League the odds on Chelsea win was 5 and on Man City 2... That time I won with Chelsea, because I thought it was very strange the difference in odds for the two best clubs that qualified for the finals! Maybe those matches were even rigged... I think the bookmakers know something, and very often people lose money based on their odds...

I guess that's part of my gambling strategy! Wink
I was just about to guess this as I read but, you said it anyway which doesn't make it entirely true. I feel its more about how the team was doing and looking at the situation with Chelsea, you could almost say they got to the finals by chance. As no one would have even guessed them being in the UCL finals. Same goes to them winning the trophy!
Again, to think of it, can a final be gambled? A UCL finals at that!

Another thing is, Kane was absent on the pitch today, not even on the bench, which lives some persons with the notion that, he was already set to head on with the transfer to Manchester City but again, do this win kind of prove something of Tottenham? Like them being capable of winning the league should Kane stay back at the club. No team is really best and team efforts matters a lot. Pep lost a trophy to Leicester City and so did he to Chelsea.

Man city was shit.

I agree, today's game was a big surprise for me, I would say that Manchester city is weak and has no chance of being champion this season, at least it is my opinion

Tottenham looked the best we have seen them for a couple of years if they can keep us that form I do not see any reason why they would not finish in the top 4.

Once again I have to agree with you, this coach is incredible, he managed to make Wolves and Porto play well and now he is managing to make Tottenham play well

How do I change my vote on this topic?

 Grin

there is no way to change

I think that the most enjoyable game of the day was Newcastle v West Ham. West Ham got a huge 4-2 win away. And Antonio started the season really good by scoring 2 goals and making 1 assist. I think that Newcastle will have another problematic season. I know that it's early to say but I feel like it will happen.

Liverpool finally looking like the Liverpool we know, it is great to see the team actually having some excitement again, not to just watch but to see the players like that actually does make me happy as well.

I honestly believe that we should not be taking this team for granted, they could just have some infighting and suddenly be horrible so it is not really that weird to see what happened last year with just injuries, I am glad to see them back to being good. They are still not my favorites for the season, City is still chasing Kane and if they actually end up getting him, then they are 100% guaranteed to be my favorites, and I will bet on outrights for them as well.

I would love to see any club to even win league, FA, UCL at the same year, I do not know when was the last time that even happened (did it? just can't remember that's all) and City with Kane does actually have that chance.

Tottenham are still maintaining their unbeaten streak against Manchester City. They managed to defeat City with the only goal of Son today. It was said that many of City's important players weren't going to play in this game as they were going to be rested. But it wasn't the case actually after they announced their lineup. And Kane didn't play at Tottenham because of personal reasons. But still Tottenham were able to beat City 1-0.

Man City are not showing their best football... The odds on Tottenham winning were almost 6... Not sure why the bookmakers made such a big difference in the odds... I guess this is just the time they cheated the majority who rely on odds! If you guess such cases, you can make good money! Wink
The difference was reasonable. Man City team is far better than Tottenham. Man City has dominated in the game too. But they were unlucky and their key players didn't perform as it was expected. Do you think it's a good idea to make bets based on bigger odds difference? Such thing happens. Strong and favourite team doesn't win always.

I concluded that Man City will not win tonight based on their last game against Leicester... Anyway, I thought it would be a draw or a win for Tottenham...

The defending champions Manchester City lost at the debut in the big match against Tottenham: end result 1 - 0 for Spurs, with the winning goal of Son at 55' with a nice left-footed shot. Very open game, Tottenham took advantage of the restarts and many times produced dangers towards Ederson's goal. The Citizens' Premier League starts off on the wrong foot. They had 67% ball possession, 5 shots on goal vs 2 more 3 huge mistakes by Fernandinho and Marhez. I think the Citizens dominated the game but this is football, one shot one kill!

The first 10 minutes City should have scored 2/3 goals after that they did not threaten much.
