i think the purpose same as like alt coin , that for make an alternate but its just used with ethereum smart contract not with blockchain type , i just found token that purpose for study , car , and etc
Just right, they are almost same, but their difference is that coins has a value and can be used as a medium of exchange and storing value of time, token has a value but they cannot be considered as money unlike coins such as bitcoin, ethereum.

the token will continue to exist as long as the ico of the project continues to run and the token is just an alternative to bitcoin and tetep being altcoin and will not be able to replace bitcoin. so people can choose bitcoin or altcoin as an investment and others.
Token is the reward that we get from the bounty campaign and it also exit as long as their are bounty campaigns and different kinds of ICO. Token is the alternative bitcoin that is rewarded in bounty campaign.Well same goes with a lot of new products outside crypto. Tokens are promotions to draw interest anf support from would be users and investors since a lot of people like freebies.

The main purposes of the tokens/altcoins have not been fully functional as the cryptocurrencies have generally not reached the adaptive stages. The only purpose I see for most tokens now is only to exchange into ethereum or bitcoin and then to fiats!
Most tokens are pointless, looks like all the token ICO are crashing to zero and they won recover. Do yourself a favor and only investin in proven coins like bitcoin, eth , monero.

Is the token that you mean also one of crypto? I think every token has its own purpose, and now, there are so many altcoins that are in the form of tokens and have different platform bases, if you want to transfer it to bitcoin, make sure first whether the tokens you have are already listed in an exchange? then you can exchange it for eth or bitcoin What is the purpose of token?
