Is what can be seen when clicking "social network" on the main page of the Qora website already decentralized?
Yes, all data is fetched from blockchain.
Yes, QORA has not only totally decentralized social network, but also a decentralized version of a slack-style chat platform in development, which is released in alpha stages and can be seen through any qora node at
http://qora.host:9090/quothprototype Not only that, but QORA can host websites decentralized. It has a built in blog system that makes creating a blog VERY simple, and ALL of this is totally decentralized, making it impossible to take the websites down.
As far as the promotional things, I have given control of the social media to a trusted partner, and he will be taking care of that from now on. At the moment I'm working out a few things, the dev is working on the db upgrade, there was a bit of a delay due to some things in his personal life, but he's back on it now.
Also, the holidays slowed things down a bit.
But don't worry, the db is the main thing keeping things a bit more 'quiet' at this point, I would like to make sure that QORA is extremely SOLID before pushing any big promotions. So just hold on, and things will be getting a lot more lively shortly.
As far as volume, I don't think delisting is in the future for QORA, especially once the next few things I've been working on get completed, the holidays delayed me as well, and some issues with one of my hypervisors in one of my data centers, but I've resolved that, and am catching up from the period of being behind due to the holidays.
As far as QORA changing algo, right now the focus is getting the db fixed, once this has been completed I will speak to the developers about the different options we have as far as the algo change. But I can say that one of the options would be to merge-mine with BURST.
I'm thinking that would be a great option, as BURST has a VERY solid network with over 4000+ active miners, and 2500+ full nodes... I think merge-mining with BURST would definitely get QORA's network in top shape.
But I'm also hoping to have a few more features to tie in that would work well with the decentralized hosting that QORA has. We're talking about those options as well.
The new QORA web wallet is in final stages as well, and we're now talking about the best way to make it work, and doing the final implementations of things. It turned out being a bit more difficult than originally thought, because the developer had to learn a lot about QORA, but it is great that he did, as he can now do more for QORA in the future, meaning QORA now has one more talented dev capable of adding features.
Things are moving along nicely, albeit a little quiet at the moment, and I have no one to blame but myself for that, so yea, I do apologize for not posting more often, I usually like to post when I have more things to show people.
So yea... I will be back soon with some more stuff to show, and hopefully a great place for the new QORA community to come and chat and make threads and such. Feel free to give your opinion on the option of merge-mining BURST and QORA, as we're considering that as one of the top options right now on the algo change planned.
I don't want anyone getting the idea that no work is being done right now simply because I'm not in here posting every day. Nothing is further from the truth, there is quite a lot going on, and I am excited to come in shortly with many things to show everyone.
Thank you all for your continued support, and here's to a great 2017 for our favorite under-valued high-tech custom-coded blockchain-based tech platform and cryptocurrency (with the coolest name!)
QORA!
