One thing about climate change. It's real and it's coming!! CO2 levels are rising. And it will have significant effect on our planet.

Ya, plants may grow better.  The horror...the horror...

New Federal Guidelines Might Take Environmental Impact Into Account Now Too

For years, the government has been issuing guidelines about healthy eating choices. Now, a panel that advises the Agriculture Department is ready to recommend that you be told not only what foods are better for your own health, but for the environment as well.

That means that when the latest version of the government’s dietary guidelines comes out, it may push even harder than it has in recent years for people to choose more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and other plant-based foods — at the expense of meat.

The beef and agriculture industries are crying foul, saying an environmental agenda has no place in what has always been a practical blueprint for a healthy lifestyle.

The advisory panel has been discussing the idea of sustainability in public meetings, indicating that its recommendations, expected early this year, may address the environment. A draft recommendation circulated last month said a sustainable diet helps ensure food access for both the current population and future generations.

Speaking of Arnie, I must lament the pathetic end of his movie career.

I thought the man was filthy rich, why does he have roll in freakin

Hollywood mud like a pig.

Downloaded "Sabotage" something I thankfully missed at the time and

tried watching it. Gave up after about twenty minutes. it´s an awful

movie and after hearing "fuck" about thirty times a minute in about

every fucking sentence you´ll soon have had enough.

As of today, there will be an extra price for us to pay to enjoy such outings. In 2006, after being bombarded with “man-made global warming” hysteria, our state legislators approved the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (i.e., AB32) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all sources throughout the state and work via a “cap and trade” system. It was then signed into law by “conservative” Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to much fanfare.

Pope Francis will lead the fight against global warming in a number of activities planned for 2015.

He has been called the “superman pope”, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change?

It looks as if he will give it a go. In 2015, the pope will issue a lengthy message on the subject to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the UN general assembly and call a summit of the world’s main religions.

The reason for such frenetic activity, says Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is the pope’s wish to directly influence next year’s crucial UN climate meeting in Paris, when countries will try to conclude 20 years of fraught negotiations with a universal commitment to reduce emissions.

“Our academics supported the pope’s initiative to influence next year’s crucial decisions,” Sorondo told Cafod, the Catholic development agency, at a meeting in London. “The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion.”

Following a visit in March to Tacloban, the Philippine city devastated in 2012 by typhoon Haiyan, the pope will publish a rare encyclical on climate change and human ecology. Urging all Catholics to take action on moral and scientific grounds, the document will be sent to the world’s 5,000 Catholic bishops and 400,000 priests, who will distribute it to parishioners.

Forgetting CO2 for a moment (or maybe forever) I've wondered about various fine particulates from industrial processes and their impact on cloud formation.  It would be kind of interesting if it turned out that by 'cleaning up' (or flat out de-industrializing in the case of the U.S.) the energy balance was tipped toward more warming.  Similarly, by avoiding fires and plowing.

I guess if that were the case we'd have no choice but to pay special interests who have aircraft at their disposal to spray areosols into the atmosphere day in and day out.  Using our tax dollars of course.

Actually, I'm kind of half expecting the government to bail out the greens by coming forward and saying "Ya, ok, we've been doing geo-engineering since the turn of the century and that is the only reason why the earth has not reached the 'tipping point' and been plunged into an unlivable inferno."

I might also add that in my area, the 'indigenous people's (RIP (and TM)) used to set fires to manipulate the environment and make it more suitable for game.  They (the West Coast US Native Americans) didn't have a lot of sophisticated computer models to guild their activities.  Nor did they have 747s outfitted as tankers so sometimes the fires got really big and burnt vast tracts of forest.  Likely other less advanced peoples did similar things with fire here and there.  The plot showing an unusually longish 'table-top' encompassing the current warm spike seems to correspond with the existence of the our species.  I wonder if this is entirely coincidental.

Aerosols and particulates have been extensively studied.  One aspect of them I find intriquing is that when, say black soot lays down on top of snow, the snow melts far, far more rapidly.  And the soot does not go away - it just continues sitting on top of the snow layer.  There is a question as to whether this may be happening up in the NP areas.

Also, the "Asian brown cloud" is quite interesting.

Good point. Obviously my winter coat and cap are black.

Video: WH Science advisor says man made global warming saving us from another ice age

“We know beyond any reasonable doubt that humans are the main cause of the warming of the earth’s climate that has been measured over the past few decades. The warming is unequivocal.

“While the climate of the earth has changed over the millennia as a result of natural factors – principally changes in the tilt and orientation of the earth’s axis and rotation, and in the shape of its orbit around the sun – those changes occur far too gradually to have noticeable effects over a period of mere decades. In their current phases, moreover, they would be gradually cooling the earth – taking us to another ice age – if they weren’t being more than offset by human-caused warming.”

These are provable lies.  Another ice age is more or less due - but think say, within the next 10,000 years.  Not this century or last century.  Further, it isn't correct to say that the warming of the last few decades "we know for certain" is man's effect.  If that was so, then the "no warming" of the last two decades is man's effect.

Be that as it may, the argument that CO2 in the atmosphere may cause some warming, and that may postpone or eliminate an ice age, is intriguing.  The matter deserves study in depth and over a period of decades.

I wonder if this junk science approach by the WH isn't a way to appease the green lobby and rabid drooling creatures of the left, while putting a positive spin on the CO2 outputs that they can't control regardless.

Look, don't worry.  There won't be any polar bears coming after you.  So it's okay that the Left wants to take your guns away.
