IS WORKING  - WE CONFIRM!

Hello All.
I was able to get 6 x RX-500 series running on windows 10 x64. After two days the stupidest thing I tried worked  Grin.
1. use DDU to clean the PC from any previous drivers.
2. Disable 4G decoding so you can log into windows (only  for Z170,H170, etc.)
3. Extract older driver for RX 400 series in Drive C: (I use 16.9.2 )
4. Extract driver for RX 500 series in Drive C: (I use 17.4.3)
5. Copy and replace all content from "C:\AMD\Non-WHQL-Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.9.2-Sep21\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B307117"  to "C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B313057" (Basically you copy the old driver over the new)
6. Install the VGA cards manually from Device manager in Windows pointing path to the new driver 17.4.3 in this case.
7. Reboot and enable 4G Decoding in Bios
8. Enjoy if it works for you.

GREAT WORK antanas012 - is it Yours Masterpiece?
Could someone please explain to me what is meant by
Install the VGA cards manually from Device manager in Windows pointing path to the new driver 17.4.3 in this case.?

I copied over the driver files, went into device manager, and re-installed the drive using the 17.4.3 directory. I still black screen if I used all 6.

After you have uninstalled the drivers with DDU, restarted your machine and copied the files from folder B307117 into B313057 - You'll then go to the device manager. Choose one of the video cards and click on properties. Then go to the "driver" tab. Choose "update driver." You'll then choose "Browse my computer for driver software." Then navigate your way to C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF - Do not choose the folder B313057. You need to choose the folder WT6A_INF or whatever the folder is prior to B313057. Then hit next and it'll start the process. You will then get a prompt saying it does not recognize the publisher or something to that effect. Hit continue and it'll take a bit, but it will install the driver. Then restart your machine and you should be good to go.

However, you will not have the AMD radeon settings panel - You'll have to make modifications through MSI AB or claymore.
What do you mean by "However, you will not have the AMD radeon settings panel - You'll have to make modifications through MSI AB or claymore."
I was able to get the 6 cards up and running on windows, but now claymore doesn't seem to want to work. It just "stops working" without any real error.

Meaning - you won't see the Radeon panel. The settings when you right click and see "radeon settings" or in the bottom right corner - see the little radeon icon. Any modifications such as overclocking, underclocking, overvolting or undervolting, you'll need to use MSI afterburner or do it in claymore itself.

Are you trying to overclock/underclock or adjust voltage? Do you have your 4g encode enabled for the boards that have it? Did you check the logs to see if there are any errors such as GPU 1 hangs in open cl?

How to the disable crossfire then when AMD settings will not be present? AB, Claymore, Trixx etc. does not have this option. Only AMD settings app has it.

Hi, excuse my English. Will it work on the motherboard ASUS PRIME Z270-A 7x RX580 4GB graphics cards on Windows 10? The board has 7 slots, but I'm not sure it works without any problems. Thank you

We are testing this mobo. Will update soon.

I've just setup an 6x GIGABYTE AORUS RADEON RX 570 4GB rig with a TB250-BTC Pro motherboard on Win 10 (I've still got some issues though)

Was quite a mission but the steps were as follows:

  • Updated MB Bios
  • Enable mining mode in bios
  • Clean installed Win 10 Pro
  • "installed" ATIwinFlash
  • "installed" ATIkmDag patcher
  • Created a modded rom for the first card
5x
  • Applied modded rom to each card one by one
  • ATIkmDag patcher
--
  • installed all 6 cards and had endless driver issue i.e dont do this
  • installed a single card
  • removed drivers
  • installed latest drivers

6x
  • ATIkmDag patcher
  • restart immediately
  • install next card

So my issue is the following:

At core clock 1050 and mem clock 2050 I'm getting an avg. hashrate per card around 27MH. However, whenever a new job is found the hashrate decreases considerably. Sometimes even down to 3MH. Anybody got any ideas?

I wonder if you guys have it resolved. I had similar problems with Asus Prime Z270-A motherboard and 7x Asus RX 570 Expedition 4G OC cards. EthOS wouldn't boot with more than 4 cards plugged in.

I resolved this problem by changing motherboard settings as instructed in EthOS knowledge base. They have instructions for different motherboard makes. For me I think what helped was disabling "Fastboot". But I changed all other settings according to instructions as well.

Here's a link to these instructions for MSI, Asus and Asrock motherboards at least, but these settings are probably applicale for any motherboard:

Hi guys im about to setup a similar 7 GPU mining rig but with gtx 1060s. Is this driver problem true to all mining rigs with more than 4 GPUs or is this specific to the RX 570/580 line?

It does. In bios change every PCI option to gen2 and enable 4g decoding

Hi all.

Some answers:

Asus Prime z270p +2 m2-usb (for risers adapters) run 8x480 cards just fine.

And some question:

I was not unable to make to work 5x580 on Asrock f2a88 pro+ always got crashes in miner even all 5 recognized. But most time gor one missing. At same time with Prime all works fine. Anyone have same experience with Asrock? (480&470 works just fine with it)
And i can't get afterburner to work properly. It makes 4 cards at 300mhz and i cand change it if i use "unoficial" with power-play mode. (480&470 works perfect).

I'm also planning to build a 6 GPU rig with 580's but I've always used Window 8.1 in the past since it will recognize multiple GPUs better than 7. But I got one 580 to add to my current rig running Windows 8.1 and there's no driver for it on Windows 8! I could switch to Windows 10 but I don't understand how you are using it for mining, since it will force a restart to install updates. How are you dealing with that issue?

As far as I know there is a way to disable the updates in windows 10, I have used regedit (registry) which can be start from Start + R and then just type regedit the rest can be explained in an article below.

You only will get notification that there are some updates ready to be downloaded (It doesn't even download) nor it will update automatically.

Give Windows 10 a try and as I posted earlier about tweaks from 1stminingrig.com. It includes disabling a lot of windows 10 background services, but as with my experience right now. Windows 10 is rock stable and my rig is currently doing 180 MH/s ETH and 3400 MH/s SIA dual for two straight days.

There are RX 580 drivers for Windows 8.1 x64 The latest driver from AMD is fine.

https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-17.6.1-Release-Notes.aspx

When mining in Windows 10 you have disable a lot of the backgorund services.

Thank you for that! I will try those drivers when I get a chance. But officially they don't seem to be supported: https://community.amd.com/message/2803441#comment-2803441

UPDATE: OK I downloaded and tried those drivers, but they still didn't recognize my RX580 card - I see the Microsoft Basic Display driver instead. Same problem as described in this thread: https://community.amd.com/thread/215340 Does anyone here have a 570/580 working under Windows 8.1?

I want to lay down everything that I have experienced and learned a day before to set up my 6x RX 580 Sapphire Pulse 8GB in Windows 10 Pro with Asus Z270A Prime MOB.

1) Install Windows 10 Pro w/ only integrated GPU & no Dedicated VGAs connected.
2) Check for updates of OS.
3) Install drivers that are required for you MOB to work efficiently, by going to your MOB support page. [UPDATE to latest BIOS]
4) Now, go to 1stminingrig.com and search for their windows tweaks. Apply all of them.
5) Download latest 17.5.2 Relive drivers and extract them in C: Folder, don't install yet. Just Extract them.
6) Shut down your system and connect all of 6x VGAs.
7) Go to BIOS and make sure you make the following changes:
- x16 Link Speed: Gen2
- PCIe Link Speed: Gen2
- Disable HD Audio Driver (We don't need audio and in some cases, audio driver shares a lane and it may cause problem with one VGA)
- 4G Decoding: Disabled
- Memory Remap: Enabled
Cool Start your system, go to device manager and it should show six VGAs with Microsoft Basic Driver.
9) Just go to the primary driver that is connected to the primary x16 lane and manually install the driver by locating it to driver folder in step 5.
10) It'll install Driver for all 6x Cards.
11) Go to BIOS and Enable 4G Decoding now so that there are enough available resources for all the cards to work together.
12) Done! It should boot up with 6 cards detecting and up and running.

1. DDU clean and restart
2. 16.9.2 extract files from B folder to overwrite 17.5.1 B folder files
3. enable 4g decoding , save and turn off.
4. put 5 cards in and run
5. the computer turns on and mining rig works but the computer is extremely laggy and turns off after few seconds of mining.

Can anyone help?

What are the cards, are they RX series? It is not necessary to the driver trick anymore with 17.5.1 and 5xx series cards.
What PSU are you running, is it big enough to run 5 cards on?
Have you done any clocks or undervolts, if so, check again that you haven't gone too far.

The model is RX 570 Sapphire Pulse. I have 1000W EVGA G3 Gold rated PSU which can handle prob 6 at most.

I have not done any clocks and undervolting. So are you suggesting that I just update the drivers to 17.5.1 instead of doing the tricks?

Hello. I am new at the forum and mining, and let me thank you because i have learn a lot because of you comments.

I have almost the same problem. I can't put 5 gpu's (rx 570) to work stable. 4 works apparently fine because it will run for two days non stop at 27 m/h each. But with 5, it doesn't work stable. Could work fine for about an hour or three, or a day, before it freezes. 5 days has been the longest. It always would freeze - it says one gpu1 is o.ooo m/h and driver error. GPU1 is the one card connect to hdmi on the slot PCIEX_16. Sometimes throw this error: Watchdog GPU1 hangs in openCL call, exit... then freezes. After reboot, one card loses the patch. The driver i am using is 17.4.3 with patch. But after it hangs, one loses the patch and windows won't recognize it. i have to take and put again the patch several times till it recognizes, which i find it ridiculous and it should not be.

What i have done:

Changed the memory clock... nothing

I did the trick rx 400's 16.9.2 windows 10 64 bit to rx 500's 17.4.3 windows 10 64 bit... worst... claymore hangs when it opens with advises of driver errors.

i install the one of the later drivers, 17.5.1 which doesn't need the patch... nothing, it hangs

changed the virtual memory up... nothing

the risers are new, and changed orders of gpus... nothing

I am losing my mind. i am beginning to think it is the rig configuration, as i have read that some motherboard won't run all the gpus, even is they have the slots to do it. So i want to ask you if the rig's configuration it is ok for running 5 gpus without problem:

motherboard: Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gbps USB 3.0 ATX AM3+ Socket DDR3 1600 Motherboards (GA-970A-DS3P)
cpu: AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition
5 x ASUS ROG-STRIX-RX570-O4G-GAMING OC Edition GDDR5 DP HDMI DVI VR Ready AMD Graphics Card, elpida memory
4GB ram
PS 850 watts
windows 10 64 bit

If this rig's configuration is ok... what it could be happening?Huh please help!!!! and sorry for the long post
