Looked like the Titans spent themselves in the first half, only managed 6
points in the second half, not good enough.

I have The Panthers and Eels for tomorrow, im 1 from 3 in round 8, hope it
will be 3 from 3, no upsets thank you very much.

Hopefully Toulouse do the business tomorrow too in the Heineken Champions Cup.
Hopefully we can cheer together!

(I've got bets on the Chiefs over the Blues and the Hurricanes over the Highlanders...)

On your recommendation, i have a small bet on the chiefs too, good odds 8.0

I managed to see the second half of tonight's first game ( Storm 40 - Sharks 14 ) and the first half of the second game ( Broncos 36 - Titans 28 )

The Broncos played a much better game catching up to be 22 - 22 at half time.  I thought the Titans might come back refreshed and blitz the Broncos, but the tide had turned.

So far this round I've picked two of three games, hopefully there won't be anymore upsets tomorrow.

(i had a typo earlier 24-32)

Yea strong enough performance by the second on the league table, I didnt have a bet on
either, kicking myself as they were good odds on sportsbet.

They are close behind the Panthers with only 1 loss so far, could the title be decided
with a points difference? hence the field goal

Rabbitohs are looking safe enough now 24-32 with 5 minutes to go.

Just to rub it in - a two point field goal in the last 30 seconds of the game.  The Raiders had a try disallowed five minutes earlier, so it was definitely not the finish they were hoping for after their strong start to the match.

Yea I dabble a bit on the Tennis but not as much as Rugby.

Barty is always a big favourite.

Dont like basketball, dont like the "quarters" format for some reason.

I have Toulouse win their semi final in the Heineken Champions Cup and
a very conservative bet on Leinster. This could be a closer semi final than Toulouse's
La Rochelle are a very big team with big replacements on the bench so they will
be up for a power game, Leinster will be looking to keep the ball in play for as much
of the 80' as possible to get the big lads huffing and puffing.

Johnny Sexton injury thrusts Ross Byrne onto centre stage in La Rochelle

Quote
“He’s probably got a little bit more tempo in his game than Johnny, to be fair,” said the Leinster forwards coach. “I’ve been very impressed with the relationship between him and the lineout caller and the speed they’re able to work together.

The Rabbitohs are off to a shaky start to round eight of the NRL 2021 season:

(Half time and the Raiders are leading 16 - 14)

My picks this round are Rabbitohs, Storm, Titans, Panthers, Eels, Knights, Cowboys and Dragons.

I have a few bets in for round 8 of the NRL and looking to back the Rabbitohs against
the Raiders on Thursday but Im second guessing it because of the odds,

Raiders 3.0 - 1.45 Rabbitohs - im thinking there should be a wider margin between
both teams given their run of form and league positioning?

IIRC that's better odds than the ones over at nitrogensports.eu where I've been placing my NRL wagers for a few weeks now.

Quote
Heineken Champions Cup Semi Final between La Rochelle and Leinster, I'm waiting
to hear if Leinster's Talisman Johnny Sexton will be match ready or not before placing
a bet. If he isnt playing I would give La Rochelle a better chance.

Hopefully I'll remember to place some wagers and see if they do good.

(I've got bets on the Chiefs over the Blues and the Hurricanes over the Highlanders...)

In off topic news, a Baseball mad fan at work has put me onto The Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants teams who are playing every other day and so far winning more than they loose with odds between 1.5:1 and  3.5:1 - I've also put very small bets for the World Series Boston 67:1 and San Francisco 30:1

Plus if you dabble in Tennis, Ash Barty, her recent doubles partner Jennifer Brady as well as Aryna Sabalenka who Ash beat all have 15:1 odds to 35:1 odds for the French Open, US Open and Wimbledon and are my picks to put bets on this season.

Yes for the Heineken Champions Cup final next weekend I really want to pick
both Toulouse and Leinster. Just checking the stats of both teams and to
me it seems the 2 opposing teams have slightly better stats, FWIW

Massive win by Storm, which im happy with. Today alone has shown some massive
score differences which will always happen with a big league.

Wests Tigers 6 - 40 Sea Eagles
Roosters 34 - 10 Dragons
Storm 42 - 20 Warriors

Eh no, failing to score in the first half and leaking 18 points is not a good start
even though the bulldogs failed to score in the second the damage was done.

Anyway, today I have Storm who are going nicely.

It's not that the Cowboys played better than the Raiders, rather the Raiders played just that much worse than the Cowboys did.

In the earlier game, the Sharks fell behind the Bulldogs and then couldn't catch up to the 18 points the Bulldogs notched up earlier in the match.

The second half of Game eight has just started and it looks like another blood-bath for the Melbourne Storm over the New Zealand Warriors

Pro14 Rainbow Cup

Big win yesterday by Munster V Leinster [Ireland] a replay of the Pro14 final itself,
This head to head is always going to be worth a watch, the top 2 teams in Irish RU.

I didnt bet on that game, very difficult to pick IMO.

Good win by England over France, was always going to be a close affair and england take the Title also.

Yesterdays results:

I had a bet on Wales' Women's team (but had a feeling Scotland would trounce them) and another on England's Women beating the French Women's side, so one win and one loss near breaks even.

Closer to home, I'd picked Canterbury Crusaders beat the Blues but lost on the Waratahs Vs the Rebels.

I've put 3000 on Telouse to win against Begles Bordeaux.

*edit*

... and just in the time it's taken me to type that up, it's now 30 - 10 with just under 25 mins left to play.

What a game today in the NRL between the Titans and Rabbitohs 30-40.

I had a very small conservative bet on the Rabbitohs but at half time I was sweating,
24-10 to the titans.

In play ATM are the Eels v Broncos, again I have the Eels to win, A small conservative
bet to dip my toe into NRL

I've been out all night and only just got back home to discover my first three pics have all come up.

Screen shot via https://www.nrl.com/

I managed to get online earlier in the night and was amazed at the scores of both games.  The semi finals this year are going to be electric for all teams given how hard fort the matches have been.

NZ Super Rugby I'm going the Chiefs over the Hurricanes and the Crusaders over the Blues.

A brand new rugby union competition starts on Friday when the PRO14 Rainbow Cup gets under way.
Intended to pit the PRO1

Has anyone seen this new competition?

Unless Australia is playing (and more importantly winning) then the media over here makes no mention in out participation in any events in the rest of the world (the Football Super League proposal is a global thing, so it's an exception, rather than a rule).

I'm off over the week-end so I'll have a look and finally catch up on making additions to post two.

Thanks for the information.

Has anyone seen this new competition?

It looks a good bit different than most competitions, There is 1 league table
and the teams from each country will play derby matches, The 2 Scottish
sides will play the 2 Italian sides. After all games are played the top
2 teams will play each other for the title.

Teams involved:

Ireland: Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Connacht
Wales: Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Dragons, Scarlets
South Africa: Lions, Bulls, Sharks, Stormers
Scotland: Edinburgh, Glasgow Warriors
Italy: Benetton, Zebre

Thats pretty good picking Timelord2067. I am half thinking of running a
few bets based on your picks for round 7 even though I know nothing of the league.
I will have to investigate the odds.

Looks like the Rabbitohs have the best odds of the picks, 1.43

Week six of the 2021 NRL competition wraps up with the following results:

Round six pics:

Panthers.  Probably the Knights. I want to say The Storm, but I'm thinking the Roosters are getting better as the weeks progress.  The Titans over the Eagles, Rabbitohs, Eels and The Dragons in 20+ wins.  The Cowboys narrowly over the Bull Dogs...

I picked The Panthers, Knghts, Rabbitohs, Eels and The Cowboys.  I should have gone with my original feeling for The Storm (the Roosters are still in mixed form)  The Titans continue to struggle while their opponents, the Sea Eagles finally picked up a win.

Round 7:

Unless there's upset wins, my picks are:

Panthers, Rabbitohs, Eels, Storm in easy wins while I'm calling the Sharks in narrow win over the Bulldogs, Cowboys Vs Raiders and Roosters and Dragons are too close to call, Sea Eagles might pull some magic over the Tigers.

(Probably Raiders and Roosters).

All in all, five wins from eight games is good - two had too low odds to make it worth placing bets.
