Ah damn it I didnt see that at all! I assumed the games would be postponed until
at least next weekend, it now looks to me like the decision to postpone in the first
place was a kneejerk decision.

So I have 2 bets on the 2 remaining games, Titans to beat The Bulldogs and contrary to
your prediction above ^^ I'm going with the heavy favourites The Sea Eagles
They are 1.13 against 6.0 for The Sharks....

I hadn't realised it at first, but the week-end's Rugby League matches at first had been postponed on Saturday (due to the Greater Brisbane lockdown) but were then given the go ahead to restart on Sunday morning after some serious discussions were had overnight.

As you can see, the Rabbitohs were at it like... er, rabbits with their fifty point drubbing of the Dragons still out of form after their players were sidelined due to covid breaches.

The Broncos has an emphatic win over the Cowboys (not enough to edge them into the top eight as they languish in 2nd last place on the overall table)

Tonight, the titans face off against the last place Bulldogs, who have had a couple of late season wins, then the Sea Eagles and Sharks clash in what I expect to be a close game given the Sea Eagles strength is on the decline while the Sharks form is on the rise.

BREAKING NEWS:

As you can see from this screen shot taken just seconds ago, it has been announced that the whole eleven LGA's that comprise the Greater Brisbane have been put into a three day 10klm stay at home  lock-down starting at 4pm today GMT +10 (less than four hours from now).

This is due to a school student at Indooroopilly High and their sibling at nearby Ironside Primary school being infectious with other confirmed case from this cluster as far as Noosa and the Gold Coast (i.e. the very north and the very south of SEQ).

All NRL games are cancelled.  All Australian Rules football games cancelled.  All Super Netball games cancelled.

Two NRL teams (didn't hear which) are sitting in a plane in Rockhampton about to disembark after flying there for one of today's NRL fixtures, so had they got off of the plane, the city of Rockhampton would have been put into lock-down too.

Channel Seven Australia (Seven Network) (who are showing the 2020 Tokyo Olympics) as well as Women's Swimming and Women's Gymnastics today showed Women's Beach Volley Ball (along with shots of bent over butts and replays of the Australian and ROC women embracing in slow motion after each play.  Definitely creepy.

I managed to see most of the Aust Vs GB Women's Soccer match and they briefly (and I mean very briefly) showed very heavily edited highlights from the Australia Vs Fiji Rugby Sevens' game (and they didn't actually say who won!).

If it's not an Australian Female team in skimpy outfits playing for a medal, they're just not showing it...

Cant believe The Eels failed to score a point, they have been playing so well all year
and being second earlier on. Have they got their eyes on the finals and taken their
foot off the gas?

Australia have 12 medals out of 20 in swimming, really strong sport for you guys.
But you also have Gold in Canoe Slalom, and 2 other's in Rowing along with some Bronze
medals in Surfing, Canoeing and Rowing. If all that channel is showing is swimming
(or gymnastics) thats a bit sad and creepy and also dissapointing to all your other
athletes who deserve the support and recognition.

Fiji took Gold in the 7's tournament followed by Silver for NZ and Bronze for Argentina,
All southern Hemisphere teams!

Its also looking good in the womens 7's for Fiji and Australia are there in the Quarter Finals today
in the second session.

I hope The Eels can put in a better performance than last week and not
get overtaken by The Roosters

Sadly, the Roosters beat the Eels 28 -- 0 tonight.  I saw from the 20th minute to the 50th minute and there were flashes of brilliance on both sides, by the Roosters just managed to find holes and run with the ball easily outscoring their opponents.

I haven't been able to see any of the Olympic Rugby games.  Channel seven (and any other news service in Oz) are obsessed with swimming or gymnastics (i.e. young girls/women in skimpy outfits) above any other matches.  The female feather-weight boxer's gold medal game wasn't shown, only that she lost and was tearful winning silver.

Disgraceful stuff.

Yea the odds for the second Lions game v Springboks is very close with the
Springboks as favourites. Everyone expects a big revenge match, I dont know
which way to bet, I might go with the Lions again but I'm holding off on that
for the moment.

Rugby 7's

All my picks won yesterday and I have a few on for today two have been played
and two won.

Ireland v Kenya - 12 - 7
South Africa v USA - 17 - 12
South Africa v Argentina
Great Britian v USA

Timelord I cant believe Nitrogensports dont have the 7's listed for the Olympics.

I'm out of funds and cant bet on the NRL until maybe tomorrow, chances are I'll
bet on the top 4 excluding the rabbitohs...

I'm relying on NitrogenSports.eu for my Rugby bets - most of the time they have various countries fixtures, however, they have League more than Union (and I haven't seen any Seven's games listed recently).  I was able to put a couple of bets on the Olympic Men's rugby - Fiji over GB and Australia over New Zealand.  I've just had another look and found the SA Vs GB/I Lions game set down for the 1st of August (both are close odds).

Rugby League.

I forgot the Dragons team was depleted due to the Covid Lock-down breaches in last week's round.

For round 20, I'm going with the Eels, West's Tigers, NQ Cowboys, Rabbitohs (too short odds to place a wager), Raiders who are returning to form of old, the Panthers over the Storm which should be a tough game...  I want to say the Titans over the Bulldogs, but I keep thinking the dogs are going to pull a hat out of the asses...  and ... maybe the Sharks over the Sea Eagles (7th and eight on the ladder - both are late entries to the top eight)

Something we dont get a chance to discuss and bet on is the 7's game. I have watched
it a few times and as with everyones opinion its very exciting. It happens to be an
Olympic sport and there are a few games on today,

New Zealand v Argentina - I have a small bet on NZ
Australia v South Korea - Betting is closed obviously because of the massive mismatch.

These matches are listed under Rugby Union on sportsbet.io

Great win last weekend on The Lions Tour. Gatland managed the team well to

I wonder were The Eels taking it easy, confident that they will qualify in the top 4 for
the finals? they seemed to be able to react to the Raiders uptempo change, but not
enough obviously. They would want to be careful though, Roosters are 2 points behind.

Going well with todays matches, Storm with a close win from The Cowboys and
Rabbitohs a handy win over the Warriors. I have a big bet by my standards on
The Panthers .5mbtc to try claw back some losses.

Rugby Union

I see now Sportsbet have union listed and have a book open on the Lions Tour,
I have a small bet on The British and Irish Lions in the 1st test today.

The coach Warren Gatland has made a few big changes, I would like to hope he
knows what he's doing. Its going to be tough playing the World Cup Champions
on their own turf and of course they are favourites

Rugby League.

Yes, I've put those two bets on.  NitrogenSports.eu haven't been showing Union on their site for a few days.

I managed to watch the Eels Vs Raiders game.  I felt the first half was very lackluster, however, the commentators were gushing at the play given it was 0 - 0 at half time.  In the 44th minute, the Raiders scored a good try then followed up with a fluke try.  The game became electric then the Eels scored taking the score to 6 - 12  With five minutes to go, the Eels scored in the corner and the video refs took nearly five minutes to award the try.  The conversion was missed and the scor was 10 -12 with four minutes on the clock.  The Eels scored another dynamite try in the same corner with less than a minute to go, but the raiders players had managed to crash tackle the player out of touch and the Raiders won 12 - 10 against the Eels.

The Raiders' team are coming together and might push into the top eight/six ?? by the end of the regular series, so I'll be leaning their way with future bets this year.

Hopefully, that's the only lost wager this round.

I've just put my bets on for this week.  The Storm and Rooster's games had odds of 1.02 and 1.04 respectively, so I put some spreads on (which I don't normally like doing)

Storm ( down 30.5 points against the Nth Qld Cowboys) at 1.88 and the Roosters (down 10.5 points against the Newcastle Knights) 1.81

I think I may have to miss placing bets when the odds get to be so low.

Yes exactly Timelord, when the odds get so low, there isnt any point in betting unless
you are betting with very large amounts.

First game in the NRL Round 19 has not gone to plan, Eels loose by 2 points to The Raiders,
I'm on a bit of a loosing streak ATM with some lost bets at The Swiss Open Tennis.

Rugby Union

Absolutely no clue about Olympics Rugby, New Zealand has to be a firm bet!

are you making a bet Timelord?

Im wondering if Sportsbet are going to offer bets on the 3 test matches between The Lions
and Springboks? The phone app is not giving me an optiin on any Union games...

I'm going with the top 4 again for this round, Storm, Panthers, Rabbitohs and Eels.

So round 19 of 25, 2 teams tied at the top with 32 points with a third on 30, if after all draws 2 or more teams are on the same points is the winner picked from Points Difference?

Not exactly.  The top eight go on to play for a spot in the semi finals with the bottom eight teams eliminated from the rest of the season.  The Grandfinal isn't until mid September, so there are more games to play - choosing the winner from *just* the top eight will progressively get harder some matches.

As you can see on the leader board, four of the bottom eight have odds that suggest they are no longer in contention - Notice how Sports Bet isn't even accepting bets on the Bulldogs anymore?  They were at $1,001:1 a few weeks ago, now they are for all intents out of the series.

Oh right! wow thats a pretty long season.

Just looking at the finals system on Wikipedia, it seems complicated at first glance,
and looks like the excitement and tournament buzz ramps up in these last weeks.
It also looks like the system is weighted in favour of the top 4.

Week one
1st qualifying final: 1st ranked team hosts 4th ranked team
2nd qualifying final: 2nd ranked team hosts 3rd ranked team
1st elimination final: 5th ranked team hosts 8th ranked team
2nd elimination final: 6th ranked team hosts 7th ranked team

The eight finalists are split into two groups for the opening week of the finals series. The top four teams have the best chance of winning the premiership and play the two qualifying finals. The winners get a bye through to week three of the tournament to play home preliminary finals, while the losers play home semi-finals in week two. The bottom four teams play the two elimination finals, where the winners advance to week two away games and the losers' seasons are over. The scheduling of each of the four games is at the discretion of the NRL.

I agree with you that the Lions can take a series win from the Springboks but it will
be close, im not sure about 3 from 3 though. It will also depend on SA having a
full squad to choose from. The A team from last week were missing some key
players like their captain Siya Kolisi.

Australia win and take the series beating France 2-1, good pick there @Timelord2067

I was going to bet on Wales beating Argentina but I was thinking a lot of key players are on the Lions team so I didnt bet. Luckily though, Argentina are a decent team who regularly play against South Africa, NZ and Australia in "The Rugby Championship" The clocked a big score 11-33.[/quote]

I hadn't taken into consideration that the Welsh team would be depleted because of their Tour of SA (the other SA) - I know the Spingbock's are always a formidable team, but I'm putting my money on the English/Irish Lions to win the three games.

I put the Australian win down to a hometown advantage on the back of the State Of Origin losses for Qld (the Aust/French match was played at Lang Park where one of the SOE games was held)

I'm going with the Eels, Roosters, Storm, Rabbitohs (NZ Warriors falling down the Rabbitoh's...) Sea Eagles, Panthers, Dragons and probably the Sharks over the Bulldogs (but that last one might be a good game to watch)
