I think this corporation has a lot of different projects on the account of cryptocurrency, just until they finish them, there is no reason to publish something ahead of time so that they can make excuses later. I would not be surprised if, after a certain period of time, they announce, like other corporations, the possibility of conducting some kind of cryptocurrency transactions. This is at least becoming fashionable in the tech sector now.

Anyone knows what even happened to Facebook's plans to develop their own digital currency? Did they forfeit those plans or is there any specific reason for the delay? Haven'T heard anything about it in quite a while.

Once a man, twice a child!
The Twitter user, Alistair, must be some funny dude or simply trolling for alleging in 2018 that Satoshi sold off all his Bitcoin @ $5,000. So, what happens to the 1 million Bitcoin believed to be Satoshi's stash which hasn't been moved from that wallet since and are still intact. If Satoshi sold, the Bitcoin would've changed wallets.

On Facebook, I believe Mark and his entity will hodl some. If he doesn't believe in the Bitcoin dream, he wouldn't have harboured the idea to want to float Libra; a crypto that is yet to see the light of the day. I'm cocksure Mark has Bitcoin he's hodling.

I wonder why people care so much about what celebrities said instead of making their own judgement. But it is a good news bitcoin if facebook decides to enter the game by holding a few bitcoin. But over, the news only create FOMO, nothing less.

It has a huge impact on the market especially if a social media influencer has lots of followers. It will be a big deal because it could catch the attention of lots of people especially the platform users. We should know that good or bad publicity is still publicity. However, we should wait for further announcement if Facebook would really invest and hold Bitcoin.

All of this is hearsay. I would say that we need to wait from the social media giant itself before we can even assume that this is true. If this has something to do with the announcement about Libra then that might the it. I mean the information is not that solid so we really cannot assume at this point that this news is legit and that news is legit. If this is true and if this will happen this year then we have to prepare for it, if you are a social media fan and want to earn from it as well.
- Libra was once a strong sign of the growth of facebook in this field but after many years, the reputation of this project was lower than ever, the information just always stops at that level, with no further process going on, maybe they realized their project could hardly compete or this was just a rumor at the time to attract more people to bitcoin, the author of the rumor is probably someone else. Today, information that related to facebook once again appeared and in the context of such manipulation, this is probably a new rumor.

Just another baseless rumor and these sort of stories really make Bitcoiners look like buffoons in front of others and make them a laughing stock. If mainstream investors are still hostile to Bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies, then you don't need to look too far for the reason. Rumor mongering such as this one is the primary reason. From what I have found the proportion of fake news being spread in the cryptocurrency sector far exceeds those which contain at least some amount of truth.

Even if this is a rumor now but one day facebook will have to announce that they are investing in bitcoins. Facebook had a plan to implement its own currency which was a complete failure. However if they allow bitcoin payments within their platform and also hold bitcoin in their balance sheet, it will be very good for the bitcoin and facebook community.

@icopress. Agreed that the most reasonable move for Facebook is to buy and exchange or a crypto mining company, however, not an altcoin company.
Could you explain why you think that buying a mining company for Facebook is the most viable option? Since when I talked about Bfinity, Filecoin and Coinbase ... I meant that these companies are leaders in their fields and I am almost sure that in 10 years they will be able to compete with Amazon and Google (if you, of course, understand what is at stake, given their type of activity). Despite the fact that they have their own token, I would not classify them as alt companies.

I agree that Coinbase might be one of the leaders in its field. However, Bfinity and Filecoin to become companies worth billions of dollars and compete with Google or Amazon is a dream. They might end similar to the many ICOs of 2017.

Its accuracy is unknown until a statement comes from Facebook. This is a method used in the market with a lot of speculation. With facebook bitcoin ownership, many people may want to invest in bitcoin. A big company like Facebook gives people confidence. Even if Facebook is in this market, I should be too. but because its accuracy is not certain, it is a news that should not be credited now.

Official statement coming from Facebook itself will validate this rumor. Up until then, people are just speculating about the holdings of FB. But I have the feeling that Zuckerberg himself has his own stash of crypto, he is not very open about it in public. When they announced about the Libra coin, I believe Zuckerberg is already into crypto. Because its launch is shrouded by too many controversies, maybe the reason why he is mum with crypto right now. But only a matter of time before we will see what's happening behind those curtains.

I saw a post that Fox news has posted this on their headline in national tv. But all of it were rumors and there is no announcement, there is no big news about Facebook or anything.
I think it's already done and we shouldn't expect anything anymore and it is better to lock the thread.

Its only a rumour and nothing else and do not anticipate Facebook will reveal anything about it. Only thing they might want t talk about the progress of their coin if they wish too else do not anticipate anything form them. Almost anymore user of this social site as well so nothing attracts me of this anymore.
Their progress attracts me if its related to cryptocurrencies especially if it's about bitcoin. Right, it remained to be a rumor and there's nothing to be expected anymore until they're the one to update us with anything that they do related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

If they had published it on Foxnew, couldn't it be just symbolic as clear proof if they wanted to do so?  Their moves were turned open to gain attention, they didn't do it, it was still a fomo, imo better.  I wait, Rumor will have something for us coming on Twitter.  Lol
No, not everything that's posted on the news are significant. They're putting it on headline to make their episode take a lot of attention which is favorable for them. Just as the usual common engagement posts in social medias but them, in mainstream media.

according to the article I read, Zuckerberg's dream or fecebook about the digital financial transaction system has been fertilized for a long time, that dream began in 2012, aka shortly after Facebook made an initial public offering, (ipo), in the form of an exclusive conversation, then in 2014, I tried to build that dream by recruiting Davit Marcus, the former president of Pay Pal, a startup company for the digital financial transaction system.
but regarding the rumors that Facebook wants to announce that they hold bitcoin, I personally think it will still be a rumor, because for me it's hard to believe these rumors, because there is no official statement from Facebook about bitcoin yet ,,

As big companies enter the crypto race, Facebook has to act so that it doesn't fall behind. Rumors about Facebook investing in Bitcoin have not been verified, but the effects of the news have caused Facebook's shares and Bitcoin's value to rise slightly (a few percent).
I believe more companies will invest in Bitcoin and bring Bitcoin to $ 100K by the end of the year according to experts' prediction.

Actually, if Facebook is proven to be holding Bitcoin, it will not be a surprise because I believe that sooner or later Facebook will follow
in Tesla's footsteps. But for now I find it hard to believe the rumors because there is no official statement from Facebook yet, but I hope
the rumors are true. In order to help the price of Bitcoin go up to $ 100k, because for Bitcoin to reach a price of $ 100k it takes several
companies investing in Bitcoin.
All are just rumors and theories that have been put forward.
Bitcoin increases in price for many reasons not just buying companies and organizations. Factors of political instability are also one of the causes.

You never know who put that rumor out for discussion. Could have been anyone for any reason, but I also find it ridiculous to even discuss whether or not Facebook holds Bitcoin. To me it wouldn't even be big news anymore. Would it be big news for anyone around here if Facebook says they own some Bitcoin?

All of this is hearsay. I would say that we need to wait from the social media giant itself before we can even assume that this is true. If this has something to do with the announcement about Libra then that might the it.
That's why there is a "rumor" in the title, of course it will be a hearsay because it didn't come from their announcement. You are right that we have to wait for their official statement, we can't do much about it so we just have to wait I guess.

Facebook already posted their quarterly earnings report a few days ago and revealed that they hadn't bought/own bitcoin. the twit is an attempt to stir the market and the only reason why people became curious, believed, or hopeful that the company giant owns bitcoin is because other company giants have been publicly revealing that they have invested in bitcoin and is getting a lot of attention from mainstream media, bitcoin enthusiast and other people.
