Is been 3days now, the rumour is yet to be confirmed. Facebook announcing that they have bitcoin on their balance sheet would be a positive news but not the final good news as smart people over the world have decide to taking destiny in their hands by simply holding bitcoin against the government and capitalist advise.

There is nothing to confirm because Facebook isn't announcing anything. This is a big company like Microsoft that is being used by the government to watch over its people, Mark is not going to grill himself for announcing he has BTC even if he has some. Facebook prefers to create its own coin though.

Facebook will likely respond yes they have Dogecoin is Alistair spread such rumor about Facebook.

It was already confirmed in their quarterly filings and report that Facebook does has not bought any bitcoin to hold in their treasury. It did not mention anything about bitcoin. What other confirmation is everyone looking for?

@icopress. Agreed that the most reasonable move for Facebook is to buy and exchange or a crypto mining company, however, not an altcoin company.

The solution that you convey about acquiring another cryptocurrency company is a possibility that might be taken by Facebook, because the very strict SEC regulations make Facebook unable to move. Cryptocurrency digital currency is growing. large companies inevitably have to keep up with the development of digital technology.
Well, I hinted that the adoption of Bitcoin by Facebook would formally mean the approval of the SEC, given the politicization of this giant ... which, of course, would negatively affect the dollar and those who own printing presses (FRS). That is why I logically assumed that the most reasonable decision for Facebook would be to buy a Cryptocurrency company or merge (in my opinion only three companies can meet the interests of Facebook: [1] Filecoin, [2] Dfinity, [3] Coinbase).

No, I do not think that Facebook is going to make such statement. This rumor is quite fake and it is drawn to attract more followers, more tweets and love. It gives us no practical information

Bitcoin is the most valuable asset on the world. Therefore, I do not need any company to make an annoucement in order to increase its price, even Elon Musk. In a long term, bitcoin will soon replace gold and increase its marketcap to more than 10 times

My guess is that he himself is predicting that because that's a strong possibility and if he is right, his account would get ton of more street cred because he broke the news (not that he heeds it), and if he is wrong... Well, no one cares because it was a "rumor" anyway. I have to try that approach too.
So it is basically the safest approach of all of them because you can deny when it is wrong and you will be a prophet if it really happens. Some users say that it will not be true but who knows and Facebook suddenly changed their stance against bitcoin.
Leg cross as we wait for their Q1 report. Who knows, maybe they are holding like the Tesla company did. There are always rumors from crypto-world and this could be real if their report is out, so, let wait for their report. If this rumor will be true then bitcoin will experience some big adoption as more exposure will set in.

Facebook is a large company that has users all over the world and this is a good opportunity if Facebook holds bitcoin.
I haven't reviewed the data for this year, but Facebook Q1 2020 revenue was $ 17.74 billion (now multiply that figure by 4). I mean, a conglomerate like Facebook, despite its three billion audience, is pretty centralized and pro-politicized. I don't think they will invest in anything that is outside the control of the SEC, let alone the fact that they already have problems with Libra. The best solution for them is to acquire several cryptocurrency companies that deal with BTC directly.
The failure of the Libra currency project that Facebook is planning to release is a big question. In fact, Libra does not meet the requirements as a digital currency, but why does Facebook not comply with these regulations.

The solution that you convey about acquiring another cryptocurrency company is a possibility that might be taken by Facebook, because the very strict SEC regulations make Facebook unable to move.

According to some cryptocommunity members there is a rumor that the Facebook social media giant might be holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

https://twitter.com/alistairmilne/status/1386953429814333441

As one user commented, "I hope not, the companies that hold #bitcoin will probably survive the upcoming inflation."

What do you think?

A rumor is a rumor. Has no facts that can backup the claim. So don't listen to those. Anyone can say anything. Doesn't matter if it is Alistair or someone else. People do this sort of things for their own advantage - create FOMO, disrupt the market and exit as soon as possible with profit. And look, no one will care if his rumors weren't true. But when one of his rumors do come true, everyone will start thinking he knows a "lot" of information unknown to public and hence start to "worship" him. So people like him will keep on making baseless claim until one of them come true.

This was funny. Everyone can just say anything and there is nobody to judge them anymore. I'm tired of these stupidity in twitter and all social media. I just have twitter account for bounties and not even reading or posting anything else. I'm not sure who is actually using these mass stupidity social media, but I guess a tweet like that one was targetting investors of lower intelligence.

Target is right. There is absolutely no point in such an announcement in general. However, as it is a public company, I am not sure if they have to inform their investors ad hoc to some degree? Could that be a possibility? When they have to prepare their balance sheets, I would expect they have to list what type of assets they hold. I don't know. Any thoughts about what I just said?

It's still rumour huh? but even if it happens i won't be surprised. After tesla, i bet many company might follow the same path and announce their support of bitcoin. But if i'm not wrong, i remembered facebook has their own coin? or my memory is wrong? How's their coin doing? why don't they publish it as well? but well, bitcoin holds more power than their coin, so it's probably that they want to take on the profit and hype as well. It's good news though, who knows the announcement from facebook might increase bitcoin price again?

There is still no announcement from Facebook side. I was really excited when I saw this news first. In the end, such announcement could help Bitcoin price increase a lot for going to the moon again. We saw how much Tesla's huge investment effected the price. I can't even think what would happen if Facebook does the same.
What will happen when Facebook states that it already holds bitcoin, of course, the price will go up very crazy, like Tesla who stated buying Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is starting to become an optional payment instrument used by large companies. Adoption like this is what bitcoin needs to remain number one as the most valuable digital asset.

This is just rumour without any reliable source. As you can see on the tweet. The author of the tweet just get a random comment on other social media platform to hype again Bitcoin since the uptrend is starting again. I'm not against boosting Bitcoin price but hyping the market is not good in the long run compared when it grows organically without hype from a fake news/unofficial statement.

I saw a post that Fox news has posted this on their headline in national tv. But all of it were rumors and there is no announcement, there is no big news about Facebook or anything.
I think it's already done and we shouldn't expect anything anymore and it is better to lock the thread.
If they had published it on Foxnew, couldn't it be just symbolic as clear proof if they wanted to do so?  Their moves were turned open to gain attention, they didn't do it, it was still a fomo, imo better.  I wait, Rumor will have something for us coming on Twitter.  Lol

Perhaps Libra is being considered internally and Bitcoin is the way to go. We will see.
So far, not news with Libra. except for information that they want to rename its brand.  Their darling still walks in silence.  If they own bitcoin, perhaps it will have a clear roadmap ahead.

It just keeps demontrating how easy it is to store value in Bitcoin and how easy it is to liquidate the BTC at a good market rate. Can't just dump gold Smiley
When the bear market comes, The company that is here for the profits is the one that makes the bear market deep. They can easily add to the bull runs hype and add fuel to the bear who is dumping, I can say that they can do small manipulation in the market as they want. Though this can help the cryptocurrency community to grow by making the company an influence to gather new crypto users.

Even if that's true (profit taking companies making bear markets go deep) there's nothing wrong with that. Like I said, if people sell and sell a lot like it, it proves just how liquid BTC markets are. As opposed to gold where you even have to find a buyer and then arrange for safety and security etc.

If there's nothing wrong with big buyers, shouldn't be anything wrong with big dumpers:P

But there is some truth to every rumor. Perhaps Libra is being considered internally and Bitcoin is the way to go. We will see.
There is no truth to the rumor, people always shill and certainly it is to create a hype and Facebook did not report any BTCitcoin holdings and many are not aware that Facebook changed the name of the Libra project to Diem and so that is the development that is going on with the project which means no one really cares about what they do unless they launch something meaningful for the cryptocurrency market.

I too felt it was a no-truth shill because no one can tell this in advance. Also, Facebook has burnt its hands in the past by jumping into "LIBRA". I don't think they will do something like this. Even if they hold BTC, they won't announce it. The tech giants are holding crypto, that's for sure but they won't announce until they feel they can defend their move.

Hopes were high in the Bitcoin community. The rumors about Facebook entering the market were omnipresent. After Facebook then presented its quarterly figures, disappointment spread The frustration of investors also seemed to have been transferred to the BTC price, which fell in the meantime to 53,563 US dollars. But there is some truth to every rumor. Perhaps Libra is being considered internally and Bitcoin is the way to go. We will see.

there is no official source or anything related to this. can be true or false depending on the parties concerned. but if this really happens it will benefit all parties because several large companies and investors keep coming and buying bitcoin.
It would be better if Alistair includes something related to the details of the source if this is not based on my own sources, I am still hesitant to believe it.
