I saw a post that Fox news has posted this on their headline in national tv. But all of it were rumors and there is no announcement, there is no big news about Facebook or anything.
I think it's already done and we shouldn't expect anything anymore and it is better to lock the thread.

Is been 3days now, the rumour is yet to be confirmed. Facebook announcing that they have bitcoin on their balance sheet would be a positive news but not the final good news as smart people over the world have decide to taking destiny in their hands by simply holding bitcoin against the government and capitalist advise.

There is nothing to confirm because Facebook isn't announcing anything. This is a big company like Microsoft that is being used by the government to watch over its people, Mark is not going to grill himself for announcing he has BTC even if he has some. Facebook prefers to create its own coin though.

Facebook will likely respond yes they have Dogecoin is Alistair spread such rumor about Facebook.

I don't understand much about law, nor am I a lawyer or a law expert. but it seems to me that what Alistair did can be considered a "market manipulation" crime or am I wrong and delusional? because he didn't even mention the source of the rumor. it was a very bad move on his part, so his reputation will be questionable on a day that he posts something big and that is true people will not believe him.

who is surprising me Is Tom Lee, he managed to get his forecast right, from $18000 and $25000, but it is strange that the price is at $50.000 and he is gone. has not yet appeared to make a new forecast Grin

No because he mentioned that it was only a rumour. However, Elon Musk’s tweets on bitcoin and dogecoin can be considered market manipulation, I reckon.

I speculate that the maximalists are beginning to be in desperation hehehe.

In other news: Facebook Quashes Rumors About Holding Bitcoin on Its Balance Sheet.

Sorry for those who still believed that Facebook will hold bitcoin on their balance sheet. We all know that the social media giant has a love and hate relationship with bitcoin, so when I see the rumour I said to myself that this is not going to happen. And for all we know, they could be still in the works to make their own crypto so why support bitcoin in the first place.

The owner might still jealous with how the twins turned their money after the settlement.

And getting your point, FB would rather pushed to create their own coins than supporting this current existing crypto.
Rumors though won't comes around without nothing, they might saying something but doing another thing behind.
We can't tell what's the real score here, only relied with available information that sorround us.

The rumors about whether Facebook had invested in bitcoin has been revealed. Zuckerberg announced that Facebook reached a revenue figure of $ 26.1 billion in Q2021 demonstrating that it can continue to work in these times of crisis by offering more to its users. The figures respond to the palpable growth because we can see that Facebook is offering users the opportunity to create and grow their businesses of any size.

Quote
“We had a strong quarter as we helped people stay connected and businesses grow,” he declared.

“We will continue to invest aggressively to deliver new and meaningful experiences for years to come, including in newer areas like augmented and virtual reality, commerce, and the creator economy. ”

One to remember: Never believe in RUMORs, or even spread it.
Rumour may be always a rumor, not changing. 'It is better to spread the information officially from the sources and also the related parties, not based on rumors from somebody to else or from twitter without any proves.
Well, about Facebook itself, maybe they will. But how is it about their Libra?

well, will this be a marketing war on facebook and twitter? Is this the impact of Elon Musk's tweets on the Doge market?
Increasingly it looks like a trick on the whales to make waves and take advantage. we know that rumors can affect the crypto market.
our task now is to be vigilant and more selective in watching the news, not to be easily provoked, and to be prepared for good opportunities. whatever it is, if it has the potential to bring benefits, it must be used.

The Standard Protocol - Solving Inflation
According to some cryptocommunity members there is a rumor that the Facebook social media giant might be holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

As one user commented, "I hope not, the companies that hold #bitcoin will probably survive the upcoming inflation."

What do you think?

While it is true that the certainty of the rumor is not yet known, I do hope that it is true. If a company as big as Facebook hold bitcoin in their portfolio, it means they believe in the potential of bitcoin and they've adopted it. I'm sure you know what this means for the crypto community.
This would mean that, because of the large number of users, there would quite a lot of people who would adopt bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
I strongly believe, whether true or not, that this is good publicity for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I mean as Facebook most of us will not be surprised at all that they are already holding bitcoin at all, Bitcoin is a big investment so a lot of companies are already seeing it as an asset.

It could easily just be a rumor, in social media like tweeter everyone could just tweet something about rumors and they are thousands of these rumors on tweeter.

Bitcoin could easily blow up in just 1 article about Facebook buying bitcoin, I guess it is always worth it to buy the rumor in the case of bitcoin in the first place it is already a good investment. Just like what they say buy the rumor and sell the news.

I wouldn't be surprised when facebook really hold their balance in bitcoin since we have been known that they are trying to make their own crypto currency. At least by this rumor they can easily attract many new user or even instutional investor to support their crypto curreny. As we already know that they are difficult to lounch their own crypto currency just because US government.

In other side, I agree with some people above me who argue that the rumor just came from the someone that has no popular. We don't know about him at all and yeah shoul have a little trust to what he says. Also, I just thinking that we shouldn't be surprised when there is companies who decide to buy and holding bitcoin because bitcoin ia deserve to getting it.

Wether they will disclose it or not probably more companies are attracted to hold BTC even a small portion of it. If all major companies reveal their holdings to the public just imagine the influence it might create. I think most companies may choose to keep secretly holding BTC for a good reason.

I think all big tech companies own some bitcoin. Some of them have already announced this, others will announce it soon, and still others - perhaps I will remain silent and will not speak about it publicly. In any case, the temptation to buy bitcoin is too great not to use it. In addition, there are still a lot of private investors who have not yet publicly announced this, but they can do it at any time. Each such recognition makes Bitcoin more attractive to others.

I believe there are a lot more companies or individuals that are holding good amount of bitcoin but of course some are not disclosing their holdings for varied reasons like safety, avoidance of regulatory laws, or just to keep silent about it. And you can't blame them, after all, you can own your own bitcoin without alerting anyone. It is your own prerogative if you will disclose it to the public or not.

But with the disclosure of some top companies about owning bitcoin, gives more interest from the public. That's the reason why those companies publicly announcing their bitcoin holdings, are giving motivation or inspiration for others to buy their own bitcoin.

The rumor pumped bitcoin to $56k 2 hours before Facebook’s submission of their quarterly report to the SEC and dumped when it was released with not a mention of bitcoin hehe. This is only another bitcoin maximalist who is larping.

Buy the rumor, sell the news is market folklore for a reason. But it's probably more prevalent than people realize.
In many ways, the market is driven by rumor and expectation. Sometimes, the news was way better than the rumor. In the case of Tesla, for example, the news far exceeded the rumor as far as bitcoin is concerned. However, some rumors remain just that: rumors.

If that types of rumers comes out in the market then no doubt bitcoin is going to breat all the price records. And truely if it comes out with a company like facebook or that type of company too. Well this also gives scarry news like if this type of news comes in the market and creat a hype after that the company comes in publically denied then the users who comes in the market by following that news they got a negative affect. So it might be little bit scary and its little bit risky too. Because all time rumers can't give best some time it could be worst.

So, if he keeps his word it's probably we won't see him around anymore spreading "rumours".
Not that it's clear the "rumour" didn't materialize I guess it's time to /lockthethread to avoid all the garbage that rises from a garbage level tweet.

I don't understand much about law, nor am I a lawyer or a law expert. but it seems to me that what Alistair did can be considered a "market manipulation" crime or am I wrong and delusional?

Not really, he hasn't posted anything fake, he hasn't made any claim and on top of that, there is nobody to sue him for this as it it's damn hard to show how this would have made you suffer losses.
You can be prosecuted for tweets for market manipulation but that's not the case here, even if a lawyer tries to do it it has zero chances of actually getting charged with it. And from facebook point of view, he's a nobody not even worth squashing.

This news made me become really excited. But if Facebook has been holding Bitcoin for some time, then I wonder why they haven't announced it yet. Because they should already have known that even an announcement by a big company causes the price to increase a lot.

according to the article I read, Zuckerberg's dream or fecebook about the digital financial transaction system has been fertilized for a long time, that dream began in 2012, aka shortly after Facebook made an initial public offering, (ipo), in the form of an exclusive conversation, then in 2014, I tried to build that dream by recruiting Davit Marcus, the former president of Pay Pal, a startup company for the digital financial transaction system.
but regarding the rumors that Facebook wants to announce that they hold bitcoin, I personally think it will still be a rumor, because for me it's hard to believe these rumors, because there is no official statement from Facebook about bitcoin yet ,,
