This is my 3 safe wallet that I used,
1. Blockchain- this wallet is the safe and best wallet for me this is compatible to all user.
2. Coinbase- I like coin base because they have vault to secure your bitcoin.
3. Coins.ph - the Asia wallet tried and tested for the bitcoin safe.
All of that is an online wallet and I can say you're giving a trust for 3rd parties to saving your money and I think anytime you can get a risk from that. and are you ready for it? i don't say online wallet is bad but there is not a guarantee for your amount.

10 Best Bitcoin Wallets For Secure Bitcoin Storage

http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/bitcoin-wallets/

Thanks for the link - I've only heard of about half and of those I hadn't actually seen a couple, just by reputation alone.

The last one looks very flaky (the Pi-Wallet) eventually you'll have to connect to the internet so it's no different from the second Multibit which can run off of a USB.

Unless I'm missing something?

about online wallet what's better coinbase, blockchain or xapo?

Out of the three choices, I would use blockchain info wallet. The reason is both coinbase and xapo owns the private keys, so your not the true owner of the Bitcoins there. Blockchain info wallet is different, they dont have private keys of their users, so you should write down the recovery sentence so you can access your Bitcoins if you forget login information. Its more complicated to back up the wallet, but should Blockchain info wallet go into insolvence, they dont have access to your Bitcoins, only you do...

I think all bitcoin wallets are safe for a newbie, but i advice you to use blockchain.org, because for me blockchain is the best and simple online bitcoin wallet and it's easy to use for newbie.

Like always first thing you need to know is how much money you plan to invest into bitcoins, if its some serious amount you will need wallet with good protection. If you just plan to learn about bitcoins and wallets, to see how to send and receive coins blockchain.info is my suggestion. I use it for months and they offer nice protection, good android application. Few times I contact support, they responded very fast and helped me with minor problems.
Xapo doesn't have transaction fees, if you plan to work with faucet's and low amounts that can be good wallet for you.
You can try every wallet, it's not forbidden. Try few and find the best for you.

Well after my laptop burned and i didnt had the keys to recover it, i just use the blockchain.info, because its an online wallet and till the moment i got nothing to say about besides they forced all to upgrade the wallet, and we cant sign a message.
Use any of Hierarchical Deterministic wallets, remember or write down your seed and even if your laptop will be destroyed you will always have your bitcoin safe.
And it is perfectly fine to sign a message from new blockchain.info's wallet, this feature is just harder to find.
I noticed that new feature too when I logged into my wallet that I haven't used for ages! Grin

I am reading the forum daily and am registered here a few days ago.
What do you people suggest for a safe wallet for a newbie, I am not that tech guy , just the average joe with computers.
I have read that Blockchain.info is one of the best wallets, but I have also read that there are a lot of other wallets that they call local wallets like Bitcoin core Multibit Electrum and Armory also phone wallets. Which is one you can sleep safe at night ?

I'm actually using local online wallet now , but most of the time I use multiple wallet , like xapo, coinbase, block chain before using any kind of wallet read term and condition.first know the rules of the online wallet you want to use.

Yeah, don't use coinbase if you plan on using any bitcoin for gambling. It's against their ToS and they may freeze your account.
that mean we can't send and received fund from gambling site ?
More than likely no. Because it is stated in their Terms of Service that you agreed to when you signed up for an account with them.

about online wallet what's better coinbase, blockchain or xapo?

its better to use xapo and blockchain. but be sure to make it safe and have a good password. but for large amounts you better have a paper wallet to make it more secure. you can try to explore the forum and you will find what you are looking for.. because every bitcoin addresses are wallets. so obtain an address and make it secure. thats all.

HD wallets will sure be the best for newer users. They are more compact and can be packed down into a single seed. The problem is that you will have problems signing messages, importing addresses and more. It's not really recommended for newer users.
You just contradicted your own words a bit here. I don't think that new users look up for somewhat 'advanced' features like signing messages.
Ability to sign message is not really needed to receive/send BTC. What they crave the most it security and assurance that even if their device will burn bitcoin will be safe.

Well IMO there's no so called safe wallet for newbie because this kind of wallets are being used of others here even not a newbie in bitcoin, the.security will all depends from the user if how you handle your account in safe places. And as what I used, I got blockchain and mycelium in my android maybe I can say its secured because there's nothing issue I face since I use mycelium wallet, and coins.ph also as exclusive only for our country. But you can try the desktop wallet like electrum and multibit they have more secured than a web wallet, but because I have only my mobile so as what I mentioned above is the only wallets I used.

For the beginner it would be xapo. It has a clean interface that doesn't confuse with alot of code and buttons that you won't use until you are more experienced in bitcoin.
