Use Blockchain.info, never the Coinbase...

Also, recommended is Bitcoin-qt (which is a software wallet).
I use only the blockchain as its universally accessible. Also, I think the blockchain is very very secure, and in my opinion much more than the software wallets. I also would like to recommend you to use the 2FA (Two factor Authentication to ensure the extra safety)!
Hope that helped you buddy!

Every wallet is safe as long as your the only one who controls the private key and secure it with 2FA or any features just to secure it. I'm pretty sure that the majority of wallets suggested is Blockchain.info Still the security in online wallet is still not good compared to hardware/software/paper wallet and it's the most suggested when storing big amount of BTC.
Anyway, there's already a General thread about BTC wallets helping you what to choose.

For a newbie, I think blockchain wallet is one of best wallet because it's very user friendly and there's a lot of features to keep your bitcoin safe. Use 2FA or other features on blockchain wallet to double the layer of your security.

Most popular is blockchain.info.

The first wallet I tried was a paper wallet, had it lost in a washer...but I had a few backup private keys kept in certain locations to retrieve for the worst case scenario.  Xapo & Coinbase seems like a choice to start but eventually there is concern of personal insecurity of not having your own coins.  Maybe a few wallets that allow you to keep the private keys and phrases would be a step up from being a beginner.  For altcoin, using wallets that come from the main source seems more appropriate.

all wallet safe, but if you want to use a simple wallet you can use blockchain.info. I use this and add features 2FA for wallet security.

Every wallets are safe. Its up to them how they use it. Some wallets have rules that they break cuase them get banned especially online wallets. Read and follow every rules you have read before using their wallet to avoid inconvenience.  Use ut in a proper way. For more guides, you should roam at the wallets sections. Im sure it can help about wallets

Best wallet for me is going to be by far with BitGo with and Blockchain.info WITH 2FA enabled.

Best wallets by far!

I didn't use bitgo but blockchain.info is good for everyone to use at starting time bitcoin use.  One thing you find more than one blockchain site in Google results so better try to login using perfect url instead of searching.
And then there are many desktop wallets there like bitcoincore and more Try anyone from that later on.

My only advice is before you use some wallet do a lot search about it

I think this way is great if done, because with it we can know the quality wallet. Or find information about the wallet providers in this forum, and how the responses there. hehe

The most important thing in choosing a wallet is control of the private keys. If you are using a wallet who's private keys are maintained by someone else or if you share control over your keys then YOU DO NOT OWN ANY BITCOIN. Only use wallets that give you complete and exclusive control over your keys. This means that the coins you have at an exchange or a website or web wallet should not be counted as they are under someone else's control and they own "your" coins.

If that seem scary then consider that you also don't own the dollars in your regular wallet . Those belong to the Federal Reserve, you are just being allowed to use them.

I heard that xapo and coinbase were good btc wallet.  I guess it depends on the available wallet/btc exchange in your country.  I believe there were btc wallet for each country.  Here we use coins.ph and I guarantee you that it is safe.  Everytime you will log in they will always ask you to input the verification code sent in your cellphone or you could just ask for email code.  That way I am really feel safe as I knew that my account won't be hacked as they are always asking for the code.  They will also ask you to verify information from you like, phone and email verification.  They will ask identification card issued by the government, things like that.

xapo and coinabse are good wallets but not the best choices you can get.

they both do not give you your private keys which means you will have no control over your coins and in case they decided your account should be banned you will lose all your funds.
