Every coin can be dumped in a such bad market, but there are some coins price of which hasn't dumped so much comparing to others. For instance, BNB token feels fine during 2018 due to the coin burning processes.

Not exactly because of the burn but mostly because smart people kept buying as the markets went down, and as binance is the most popular exchange, so are the binance tokens

I also think that the purchase of Ethereum is becoming the safest and most rational decision for investment today. After all, it is the largest and most demanded altcoin in the world, which in the future will be able to confidently compete with BTC.

I prefer to suppost Monero in this category because its anonymity is its feature that makes this coin really unique and sasfest on the market among other coins.

Safest alternative cryptocurrencies are EOS, Waves and NEO because they are promising as experts are sure and it is clear from their increasing prices.

Altcoins from the TOP 10 are suitable for your risk-return criteria. Spread the money between them, it would be the best solution.
That's a great strategy because it will take a long time for these top 10 coins to fall completely. New coins can turn into shitcoins right after exchange listing or during this bear market, it may dump and never return to a better price. Ripple for instance is speculated to reach 5$ if the bull run is triggered.

i am not looking to make a huge profit, just modest gains and minimal chance of loss. Any altcoins?

I am now making a major investment in the purchase of the oldest and most reliable coins. Including, I prefer to work with ethereum, litecoin, Monero and Waves. They will soon restore their positions and will bring investors income. I also plan to invest in the purchase of Ripple and Waves in the near future.

You can find all the safest altcoins in this two categories blockchain infrastructure project or in exchange platform project. Just do your own research on based on this two categories which are coming up with the news of partnership, node upgradation, testnet or mainnet etc. If you found something interesting in your research than invest and take profit and exit. Presently Zilliqa & ethereum both looks promising as Zilliqa have mainnet in January 2019 and Ethereum have hard fork Constantinople which also shedule on January 2019 this news will impact the prise of both of this coin positively. Also you can invest Binance which safest and have great potential to rise in price in upcoming years.

Traditionally, Ethereum remains the safest investment option. He has already confirmed in practice his stable development and undoubted benefits for investors. Therefore, I invest about 50% of the money in the purchase of Ethereum, and I also invest part of the money in Dash, Ripple, NEO and Waves.

I think that any of the top 10 is a good bet, of course, you may have special cases such as eth that drops or rises abruptly by some sudden change in the market, but generally and despite the general volatility, they remain quite well in a normal price range.

Well clearly the Ethereum he's probably the most safe of all other altcoins I would not advise to take due to the fact that many things can switch in contrast to Ethereum!

Now the data of objective studies confirm that Ethereum becomes the most reliable and safe option for a prospective purchase. Also, part of your money can be allocated for the purchase of Ripple, Waves, NEO and Litecoin, which can also rise in price starting next year.

if you want safety, go with bitcoin, litecoin and ethereum. Those three are practically guaranteed to remain relevant as well as go x10 from here, you wont see life changing profits, but profits you will see

You can expect a huge profit with minimum risk from ETH. And if you are looking to minimize the risk, you can go with the top 10 list from coinmarketcap. Others are also a good option but as you are willing to take less risk, I suggest you not to invest other than top 10 coins.

You want the same thing as me. Then you need to pay attention to the coins that bring passive income or have POS mining. In this case, you can do it. The most significant is ADA, but have not yet launched POS in this project.

if you are looking for stable coins, then USDT (though not considered a token) and USDC (new one) may be a point of interest, but aside all those, you may want to invest in BTC, ETH or EOS though the min gain or loss may and may not be in play here
