Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
Fair enough.

I also have a few stuck, unconfirmed and now over 24hrs old transactions with some of the main game addresses.  In fact they're locking up all the funds in the blockchain wallet they're from at the mo.  Would you mind taking a quick skiz at them and advising the best way forward, whatever that is...   cheers.

I put some bets into the current progressive game over the last few days, but they've never registered on the page record (last recorded bets are March 01 @ http://satoshidice.com/progressive-detail.php).  Were there any problems with the bets or is something else up?

Transactions in question:

Sorry, there are some issues with the progressive.  The process seems to often stall.  I'll make sure it gets run once this database migration is done.

Processing is going to be down for maintenance for between 2 and 6 hours.  We are migrating some servers around.

Web site should be up mostly but will have a little downtime as well.

No offense, but it looks like a scam. (naive hope that Gox return the money from his own pocket, for fear of losing the trust)

Bitcoin is new, makes sense to hodl.
I'm interested to see sdice on ripple to see if they can handle the traffic.

It is impossible for anyone to send an amount FROM an address they do not have the private key for.

If MtGox sent an amount from 16jM4mbzPQsPAxhbVk5pt9FAK9xCGm1m6m to SD for you
... then they did at some stage have the private key for that address.
If they deny that, then they are lying.

There are 2 'if's there.

How do you feel about being responsible for this fuckup because of your inaction to fix your shit?

Please don't be retarded.

Someone told you the same almost 6 months ago and change the way your game works.
And you didn't listen...
Why should I listen?

So, who's being retarded?

SatoshiDice is not broken. It does not need any "fixing."  What you are referring to is that there is an issue with Bitcoin itself that is being exposed by the high volume of SD transactions and by the tiny microtransactions it's creating.

SD changing its behavior to "work around" a problem with Bitcoin itself is nothing but delaying an inevitable issue with Bitcoin itself. Far more important that Bitcoin fixes this problem, so that neither SD, nor any other of myriad potential services that could use the blockchain in the same manner (or worse, for explicitly nefarious purposes), is able to cause these issues.

SD changing itself leaves the problem to persist in Bitcoin. I don't see why people think that's the wise course of action. With that said, SD now does not send single satoshi transactiosn anymore. The smallest "dust" it sends is 5,000 satoshis, and this was done to marginally ease the strain on the blockchain. But if it's not "okay" to send 1 satoshi, or 5000 satoshis, even if fee is paid (which it is) then that feature shouldn't be available in Bitcoin's software.

As we have mentioned earlier that the bitcoin address generated is only a sending address and not a receiving address. On checking, we do not find that 16jM4mbzPQsPAxhbVk5pt9FAK9xCGm1m6m is linked to any Mt.Gox account. Therefore, it was not us who removed it.

That doesn't sound right to me.

You sent coins directly from MtGox to SDICE, so all the addresses that the coins in that transaction came from must be in Gox's wallet.  There are "sending" and "receiving" addresses, there are only addresses.  Gox either has the private key for that address or they don't.  The fact that they sent coins from it means that they do.

They also say that the address isn't linked to any Gox account, so your winnings wouldn't have been credited to anyone's Gox balance.  Therefore your winnings are sitting in Gox's wallet, but not counting towards anyone's balance.  They should be able to refund you without being out of pocket at all.

This address may actually be linked to a non-Mt.Gox account and the person who has access to that bitcoin address may have removed it.

This makes me think that the person you were talking to doesn't understand the situation.  The address was used by Gox to send coins.  That means they have control of coins at that address.  I would ask to speak to someone else if I was you.

Feel free to use my words if you think they help support your case.

Hello, my name is Steven and I use satoshidice often with my coinbase account. However, yesterday in the morning I made a bet using MTGOX which I won around 20 BTC which is shown here:
http://satoshidice.com/full.php?tx=b36e960a0336c4ba1f262658b3fb9a11ea65708351fb4469f4d8c8f9f1bdc5c2
However, I have not received my payment yet.

I contacted MTGOX support yesterday.
http://imgur.com/TMu3mqx
In short, they told me that the send address is changed every time I send thus my payment seems to be unredeemed of some sorts according to these websites.
I have sent in a couple more support tickets but they keep asking me to message satoshidice but I do not know how.

My winning coins seem to stuck in an address that I don't know how to access.

http://blockexplorer.com/tx/7e05a89f9eb883fb680b29d9fca4df2c76a12f0d16affbdffa8fb0ccad2908db#o0

I tried to prove to them through a history.crv file of my transactions : http://imgur.com/y1CAqDP, that the transaction that took place was at the EXACT same time, Same satoshidice address, same amount as the satoshi dice transaction which won me my BTC. I do not know how else I can make my argument.

Now I admit I have made a mistake. I should have continued using Coinbase as my base of operations for satoshidice, tried and true method. However, I will continue to keep messaging mtgox because I am a newbie and don't understand exactly where my BTC is currently residing. Has it just disappeared? I do not have much value and this is quite a lot of money to me. I just want this to be resolved and know for sure whether it is just gone forever or redeemable because it seems the coins are just sitting somewhere and I want to know what I must do...

Best,
   Steven

It looks my BTC has finally been moved by whoever received it. After continuing to write in support tickets and receiving a decent correspondence they told me this

"Hello Steve,

As we have mentioned earlier that the bitcoin address generated is only a sending address and not a receiving address. On checking, we do not find that 16jM4mbzPQsPAxhbVk5pt9FAK9xCGm1m6m is linked to any Mt.Gox account. Therefore, it was not us who removed it. Thanks,

MtGox.com Team"

It's been a few days now and I have no qualms about my loss because it was my own mistake. However, if anyone here can do me the favor and look through the few transactions my BTC has gone through here:
http://blockchain.info/address/16jM4mbzPQsPAxhbVk5pt9FAK9xCGm1m6m
and tell me if MTGOX was telling the truth. I have an inkling that the last two addresses that have the final balance:
16k4hscpjwJwrGwBLKCVc3JKRNre9dYADY 17.54316906 BTC
1FtvtCLiQ3W1XCHo5Acc5RGNNMfKbLztwv 6.70607025 BTC
On whether these two could be MTGOX accounts or Satoshidice or something. I just want to know if MTGOX really checked.

You have already fix the vulnerability? (to have more computing hash-power and does not include losing bets to the block)

SD is back again processing bets normally. Any bets placed during the downtime will return to you with the proper win or loss, but may take a day or two to clear. Bets sent now should clear normally without abnormal delay.

Thanks much for your patience.

Hey All,

Regarding the temporary blockchain fork that just happened, I turned off SatoshiDice for now. All bets will still process fine, but everything is frozen until I turn it back on. I did this in case it would assist the devs to solve the problem.

So I recommend you hold your bets for now, but if you place bets, please be patient as they will return to you once I turn the system back on. Nothing will be lost in the void.
