Satoshicircle is still online and functioning. A good sign. Still getting a bit anxious...

Why don't they just put a page, "Temporarily out of order"?

I still hope it's just a problem with their MySQL server. I imagine over 350,000,000 table rows can be tricky to manage efficiently.

Is this for the "provable fair" component? Because they definitely don't have that many members

Also, one must bear in mind they are still a comparatively small business, but when they are handling >$2 million worth of others' funds, they have to tread with some degree of integrity.

Has anyone had an email back from the support address, or at least tried to do so?
It's the number of bets they have stored.

Anecdote: A few months ago I noticed my old SatoshiDice account got slower and slower. I assume because the betting code accessed database rows from far back, and load it from disk.
SatoshiDice optimized the code a few weeks ago. Old accounts are not slow anymore. I don't think they even mentioned the improvement.
I imagine there still might be corner cases that lead to heavy database stress.

These are all just guesses, because the web server currently reports a MySQL error:
https://session.satoshidice.com/userapi/useraddress/

That's a good point, equally it could be because they've simply ran off and turned the machine off, and nothing serves to explain the lack of correspondence.

Also, what is the sense in maintining such a large MySQL database? Surely all you need now is secret URLs/emails/deposit addresses and account balance that can be updated? Keep summary stats about previous bets to populate the leaderboards/etc. If it's for transparency purposes, a tape backup would suffice, given we (presumably) can't access those SQL records anyway.

Betting is slow, so some code needs to be tidied up somewhere. Slow bets frustrate, and frustrated customers leave and stop placing bets (=bad)

C'mon, SD! Get your shit together and keep the site running. Allow users to log in with the secret URL if they wish, even after you force them to create the email based accounts.

Actually, I think the idea of converting the accounts from secret url to emal is one of the worst ideas ever. The very thing that made SD different from other betting sites was exactly the possibility of complete anonymity. The number of bets /day is now so low that is a shame for the oldest bitcoin betting site in the history.

Fix it and fix it asap!

I wrote this exactly 1 month ago. WTF are you doing, SD?

They're AWOL; the lights aren't on and nobody's home.

Happen the United States Government has seized the site?

The sites based in the UK, not the US... not sure what good seizing a web domain would do either.

feels a bit too far-fetched, if it has been seized they would probably said something earlier.

OK we can assume our coins are lost. How much did you guys lose? I lost ~1 BTC.
I would bet 0.25 BTC that SatoshiDice will be back online within 5 days Smiley

A casino is a perpetual money printing machine. It would be foolish to throw it away, despite the >5000 BTC that are invested.

SatoshiDice should hire a second admin/dev who is experienced with high availability scenarios and DDoS migitation (if that is the problem right now).

I have about 1.5 BTC invested myself but I'm confident. SDice tackled and solved many problems in the past. It's only going to get better.

The cold wallets are untouched:
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/address/1DmqFgYfKMT1F8B3tGhVMFf82vdgdSsjNV
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/address/18e5jpfn9zo9GQov1Ks9Pzh6Yam2SvFqqo

it is known that admins communicate poorly, and they have been down 24 hours before, I think they come up again soon and all Bitcoins are safe.

It's sound logic, and reassuring, but if so why have they not announced this here?

I'm more than happy for a small fraction of my profit to be invested in even a rudimentary level of cybersecurity. BitDice's CloudFlare is always checking me: can SD just employ CloudFlare?

Viz. those wallets: is there blockchain evidence that transactions to deposit addresses end up there?

I haven't been able to access my Satoshi Dice accounts since they changed to the login system, I have tried multiple times over a few weeks.

I have also emailed SD but as always, have not received a reply.

Who's the latest SD contact on this forum please? Or could they please contact me to resolve this?

Thanks!

Please PM me your email and I make sure I handle it in the morning!

I sent you a private message a few days ago but haven't had a response.

Could you please look into my issue?

Thanks

Since the last DDoS attack, they said they've fixed the protection, hoping for something hardware related.

That's nearly 24 hours down, and still no communication from Randian Hero. A host of foreboding possibilities are in sight now.

SD must remember it is in competition with other casinos, and start to behave in a manner commensurate with being a viable market participant. In short, fix this and fix the quality of your communications, or your customers will desert you. It can't take much
Weird I reckon, I'ts been down for more than 24hrs already and no communication.
