With this victory, Al-Nassr continues to close the distance from Al-Hilal and even though the difference is still quite large, around 7 points, they will still try to get closer. It was not easy for Al-Nassr who started the season with bad results and they must be grateful that by the middle of the season everything started to improve.
Anyway, with the addition of 1 goal via a header in injury time against Al-Taawoun, Ronaldo ended the year as the top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals for the club and the Portuguese national team. Still can't believe he did that and of course he is happy to be able to compete with other great players in the current generation.
As much as I respect Ronaldo as a football player and I really think he is one of the deadliest strikers the world has ever seen, comparing those numbers across the globe and comparing Ronaldo's goal count from the Saudi Professional League and the national team with that of three players from the Bundesliga, the Premier League and Ligue 1 doesn't look right to me. Everyone can have their opinion about this, but Haaland and Kane are far better than Ronaldo at the moment in my opinion. Mbappe should have scored more, but still the Saudi Professional League is like a children playground for Ronaldo.
However, what counts is the number of goals and despite being in a different generation, Ronaldo proves that competition still exists. All players have levels depending on their current age and Ronaldo will only be able to place his current performance in the Saudi league and will not be able to be at the top in European competitions like when he was young.
The Saudi Arabian League is never seen a a big league of big Competitions, they don't rate goals from that league highly but I can never doubt the brilliance, excellence and greatness of Cristiano Ronaldo.
At his age and he be scoring like a the young Ronaldo who was newly signed by Real Madrid. It's such a beautiful thing to see that happening. There'll be no other player like Cristiano Ronaldo honestly. Many will try to follow his footsteps but they will not match his lace.
Props to him though, he's done enough in the world of sports. Shout out to players like Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland who have done well in their own various leagues consistently.
