For anyone who has not seen it, they should definitely check out this slide presentation on how the ShadowSend anonymity system works.  This is really a beautiful explanation: http://www.slideshare.net/shadowcash/presentation3-43827434

What's the story with this audit? Over a month and I haven't seen any updates as to a tentative timeline for release. All I keep seeing is wait for Isidor. Link http://shadowtalk.org/topic/321/shadowcash-whitepaper-review-and-code-audit no longer leads anywhere.

For some reason the link changed, I'm not sure why: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/321/shadowcash-whitepaper-peer-review

I get it. We keep bumping the thread to talk about adding more tokens Wink

Thanks for bumping the thread to talk about adding more (shadow) tokens.

Re this subject:

I'd like to remind our readers:

1) converting SDC to Shadow tokens (SDT) adds more anon inputs/outputs!
2) converting SDT (Shadow tokens) to SDC ALSO adds more anon inputs/outputs!!

It sound illogical and yet that's the way it works.

I wanted to make a pie-chart to illustrate the SDC/SDT distro. But it as not as simple as subtracting the amount of SDT from the total supply of SDC (as seen in the explorer) to ascertain the true number of available SDC. See http://shadow.blockexplorer.cc/chain/ShadowCash

For this reason, as I understand it, the amount of Shadow tokens (as shown in the explorer) will only ever increase. This is appropriate since the text emboldened above (1 & 2) demonstrates that no matter what you do the anonymity of the network increases.

In the meantime dasource is looking into the possibility of determining the "true" number of SDC available at any given time. If successful I can make my pie-chart.

Mmmmm… pie Smiley

Here is an interesting interview by epicenter bitcoin with Brian Hoffman of the Open Bazaar project.  They talk about peer-to-peer commerce and Ricardian contracts.  Some ideas may be relevant to ShadowMarket:  https://soundcloud.com/epicenterbitcoin/eb-067

It's obviously. Crypto-knowledgeable criminal people around the world are starting create Shadow tokens for buying/selling drugs, weapons and radioactive substances using this one. Global darkmarkets SDC adoption is the next stage, criminal groups and organizations are seeking this method of payment very insistently

Due to the existence of the tokens and the remarkably stable price, for an altcoin, I suspect SDC is already being used as a means of exchange, particularly in the places on the internet we don't go.

Now the trick is supporting it as a store of value, as well. Used as a means of exchange only the price can be arbitrarily low or high.

rookie question, what is a shadow token exactly?

Can we get to 2 million? Tongue Everyone convert!!

rookie question, what is a shadow token exactly?

It's an untraceable coin that gets substituted for a SDC when you do an anonymous transaction. The SDC is destroyed, and it's replaced by an equivalent amount of Shadow tokens which do not show up on the blockchain and cannot be linked to any transaction. You send someone the Shadow, and when they want to they can convert it back to SDC.

Oh ok , many thanks. It appears that shadow is really being used for what is made for then. That's pretty good news. I hope that the dev team can resolve this problem:

If the team can resolve this i think this could be more valuable than darkcoin.

Fuck counted wrong, wanted 0408 :-)

but all by all everything is fine with me...
nevermind

UPDATE: At this time I count roughly 42,000 shadow on the Chain Data. Lets see how quickly we can get to 420,000 Shadow and then to 1,000,000 (we should have a celebration for this milestone Smiley )

So beautiful I'm breaking up here…
So we can party?

If we're going to use the term, it would be nice if everyone knew what "homomorphic" means. It sounds awful, like something that would be written in a psychiatrist's notebook after he examined a strangler.

Morph? Morpheus?… umm… errr

LOL! I love the idea somebody actually suggested we use the term. Prob best to stick with Zero-Knowledge  Grin

Merriam-Webster defines homomorphism as:

Quote
Definition of HOMOMORPHISM
:  a mapping of a mathematical set (as a group, ring, or vector space) into or onto another set or itself in such a way that the result obtained by applying the operations to elements of the first set is mapped onto the result obtained by applying the corresponding operations to their respective images in the second set

 Huh
LOL. Respect the Techovert \o/ (Shadow's cryptographer)

I have another wallet issue.  I set my wallet to load with windows startup.  It now goes blank every time it loads on windows startup.  Says I have a 0.00 balance.  No address.  No transactions.  I have to kill it and restart it.  This on top of the other issues I posted a few days ago.  Does this update fix that too?

Have you upgraded to latest? Currently 1.3.0.9

Yes, I've tested the new wallet and it still has this problem.  The new version also still has bugs when adding addresses.

I've had this issue with all the releases. I stopped it automatically loading on startup. That fixes it most the time but I still get 0 balance the first time I open it sometimes.
