Absolutely, seals has gotta be one of the oldest btc sites around that hasn't ever suffered a major security break and I'm convinced that this is because of the manual withdrawals.  Thanks, seals, for putting security before convenience.

I don;t think any legit poker site have claimed to have been hit by any hacking attempt in the past.
It has been only gambling sites, which can simply quit and restart business with another name.

Exactly.  Seals has been going for years, while other bitcoin related websites - with much larger budgets even - have screwed up and lost customer's money.  Or stolen it and disappeared.

Even in the poker world their consistent, quick and free cashouts over the years put them at the top of the list.

Bitcoin has spoiled us with how easy and fast it is to move money, so if you don't have experience with fiat poker sites I can understand how 12 hours might seem slow.  But compared to waiting weeks for a check it's crazy fast.

SealsWithClubs is great but the cashouts are not really fast : 12H is not great when you need the money. If it could be instant cashouts for loyal players and amount <1B it would be great.

It's easy to miss with all the posts here, but this discussion comes up every few pages.

This is from a couple pages back:

For future reference to all those that complain it takes a few hours to cashout from Seals because they do it manually.  The following is a post about the recent BitStamp debacle:

"Stupid stupid stupid to keep over 10% online. When you're a high profile target it's better to process manually and keep users happy.  Why does every crypto business has to be so retarded?"

Thank you Seals for not being retarded Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin Cool

Couldn't agree more.

Manual withdrawals with less than 12hr wait > empty hot wallet

Seals processes withdrawals manually because they put security first.

For years now they have a great track record of sending withdrawals in under 12 hours - and keeping your bitcoin safe.

By doing manual withdrawals they avoid a Gox/Bitstamp emptying of their hot wallet.

It also protects your individual account - if someone hacks in to your account they can't instantly withdraw your balance.  That at least gives you a chance to email support to tell them to lock it down.

Having to wait a few hours is a minor inconvenience, but it's a lot better than putting the players money and the whole site operation at risk.

Yah, shortest blogpost ever from their promotions feed.  "Seals is gonna level up".  Mysterious.

Will there be an update this month , or sometime later this year ?

Well then that would be risking all sites at the time. No need for Seals to be extra careful, as they should probably just hold funds in multiple wallets instead.

Does anyone use the HUD that is available out there for free for Seals ?
Might be good to have a better one for the new version.

What I will like to know is if this new seals software is something completey new or just adding Pinenapple and OFC to the software. Those  are small niches and might dilute the current player base.  If seals wants to really compete they need software that has player notes, hand replayer not this Briggs on HGH that they now have. So what is the mystery and why does Micon  not say more about it?

I think OFC will attract players, but I agree player notes especially are much needed.

I understand what you're sayin, but I think more poker players learning about bitcoin is a good thing for Seals.

Most poker players already play on multiple sites.  Current Seals players might start playing on WPN... but that doesn't mean they will quit playing on Seals.  You don't have to trade one for the other.

But, now there will be more WPN players who will just now learn about and set up bitcoin accounts.  Once they figure out how easy bitcoin is, they can be drawn in to adding Seals to sites they play on.

Yes it will work both ways....the question is what will be the net result of current SwC  playing some time at WPN vs players gained by some WPN players playing at SWC. We just have to wait and see. At any rate competition between sites will be good for the players as the sites that have the better playing conditions will be the wiinner in terms of adding players. So both SwC  and WPN will have to improve and get all their ducks in a row or risk loosing players.
Lately I have not had disconnects at SwC which is a plus but player pool is small and less large guaranteed tournys.  At BCP that I also use my gripe has been  intermittent lags while you play that occasionally make you loose hands and withdrawal is a pain in the ass or not cheap if you use their debit card. So if they can fix that by using bitcoin it may swing the pendulum in their favor due to larger player pool and bigger tournaments.

You're right, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Agree that competition is good... but I think WPN and Seals are different enough that they can both compliment eachother.

If you want to play longer, slower tournaments with 3hr late reg/re-entry that take 7+ hours... then play WPN.

If you like smaller tournaments with lower rake that take less time... then play Seals.

Or, like a lot of people... do both.  Both sites have a limited selection of tournaments so you can easily play a schedule on both.

Not to mention that any Seals players that would leave for WPN tournaments already had the option of playing them for bitcoin.  So I don't see them suddenly leaving now.

WPN players that use bitcoin would have an incentive to start playing on Seals though because the rake is lower.

Hopefully that would the case and seals player liquidity does not go down.  I know WPN has issues so we will see.

It's impossible for btc to go to absolute zero (at the moment) because there are plenty of folks like me who only have a few btc and aren't really interested in selling.  That is, I got my btc several years ago for next to nothing so i have nothing in the game to lose by simply holding.  That being said, btc may get a whole lot cheaper, and if that happens, then those no-rake micro games might as well be renamed no-rake nano or pico games.
