Its based upon your capital man. As per my point of both coins are good and potential. If you have huge capital you can invest in bitcoin else go with ethereum. But better idea is split you investment to both the coins.
buying bitcoins was never a bad idea. just all that you need, think and make the right move and wait for the stability of prices.
In the current time I think it's probably a good idea on buying BTC because BTC fallen for almost 2x in the past couple of months. This would be a great chance to enter at BTC at a very low price because the highest value and high demanded coin out there. This means after a couple of days you would easily get the profit you are expecting to have or maybe the opposite.

i think that market is still under correction and you should wait further to buy. but you can not say when market will move upside so i will prefer to buy 20 to 30 % now and keep buying at every correction. for you it will be totally your decision with understanding.
