I would go for long term trading. I can say that its really good and applicable for me. I used to learn from being a panic seller and managed to become a short term or day trader. But I'm upgraded right now and I can say thay long term trading is applicable for me because I can handle my emotion and I'm not the same anymore.

these two strategies are not separate from each other so you don't exactly need to only choose one for your trading strategies. you can do both and also remember that different markets require different type of approach.
for example you can do day trading in both altcoin and bitcoin market but long term investment only works with bitcoin and not a single altcoin is good for that.
Just follow the trend and you shall succeed, now that bitcoin is getting its good value most altcoins are currently on dump, you can buy now and expect to make profit again once bitcoin starts to neutralize, it's a hard job to do really if you are doing it for short term trades.

However, if you look for long term trade, technique that I used is I buy at dip and keep it longer, it gives me success doing it, just be patient to wait.

Both type of trading have their perks, with long term you may end up with bigger margin of profit, but you have to be very patient for that, and in short term, you see growing your investment every day even though by a small amount.
But how do you prefer to trade? Especially when trading alts. Do you go with good potential coins and long term investment so you can only cash in when you get to a desired level of profit?
Or do you prefer day trading and go with whichever coin suits on the day.
And what is according to you best practice?

Those are both really gives us really profit actually, I don't see any of them that are not good they're both profitable.
But if you really want to harvest a big profit, holding in a long term is the best choice to do it, than day trading although it is profitable and quick to earn but it has risk involved only, unlike in long term you just need to be patience only and nothings else to be follow.

Thanks for all the information within this topic.

My personal view :

Trade on multiple platforms both short and longterm. Also do not be affraid to take your investment out from a coin which you want to trade shortterm, BUT  atleast a part of the actual profits within the coin and use it for longterm. Lets say that coin explodes.. you make even more profits on the long run.

Also try to think allong, sometimes a coin which you want to trade for long term can change in a way that it's smarter to use it as a short term trading coin.

If the coin does explode (better word would probably be "pump"), grab the opportunity to sell it and then long it on stabler and well traded coins. This is assuming you invest on those super volatile coins and wait till it does pump. In most cases, all coins will go up, it's just a matter of time. Though this is not always true in all coins, however I often see this in Poloniex since most coins there are all active.

For me, Try the same method if you know the coin has a potential to get high value on long term try to hold it and bring extra capital for the short term method or Day trading.
Example you have 1Btc in tour wallet.
use 0.5btc for long term method and use 0.5btc for Day trading method it gives you a huge profit or Sell the coins you holding if you know that theres a retracement or a rebuy and buy it again when the prive has decreased.
Having an option on a trading is a good way to lessen the risk. If you ae going to choose between long term or short term trading, remeber that in trading it does not matter the specif term you will get into the trading what really matter the most is how you are going to manage you trading. Always remeber the basic trading method the price monitor that may help you on determing what decision you will do. Just work hard and have dedication for your tradings to earn.

For me both of them are profitable and good but in case of earning I will prefer the long term because the long term can bring you a lot of money just hold the right and trusted coin to get a huge money to it because some of coin are not profitable so I will choose long term. And another long term investment have a low risk of losing.

For me I prefer short term at least I can earn a little then wait for going down. Long term is good but we don't know in the future that this coin will be dead or pumping.

I think short term and long term is good you can earn what any you choose this. In short term you earn also but a little only because you hold it for few weeks only . In longtern you earn a lot of money because they have possible your money become ten times but you need to hold it for few months or may be a year before you sell it. But longterm is more good than shorterm.
To see the present price of Bitcoin you are saying long term investment is good because after some years the price will be doubled that is your confidence. But suppose if the price goes down like how it happened in 2013 and 2014 what we will do? Do you think people have the patience to wait for many years? I think no so short term investment is best the profit is less but instant money.

But how do you prefer to trade? Especially when trading alts.

I prefer to trade for a longer term and this is what I've been doing when I started to enter trading.

Do you go with good potential coins and long term investment so you can only cash in when you get to a desired level of profit?

Yes, I'm only choosing those coins that has the potential to pump because I know it will give me good profit in the end for holding it for a longer term.

Or do you prefer day trading and go with whichever coin suits on the day.
And what is according to you best practice?

I did day trading but the profit is not that really good for me as I don't have enough time for monitoring it.

For me both type are working well in terms of bitcoin so it depends on your economy if you can save your money for longer time then keep it in bitcoin you will get mote benefit and if you cannot keep for longer then relying on the fluctuations you can buy and sell for short term. while in altcoin I will say you g only for short term.
yes that is right that it depend on you economic condition also. if your economic condition is good and you can afford to hold a big amount bitcoin with you for a long time the can really get a good profit after some time. i think long term investment is too good but you need to have a good amount of bitcoin and can get a good profit after some time.

Most of traders prefer short term trading in altcoins.Altcoin markets are highly volatile and many coins get disappeared in the long run.So short term trading would be better. But there are few coins which have good potential and exist in the market for years. They could be selected as a long term investment. But only bitcoin would suit best for long term investment and altcoins for short term investment.

I think for Bitcoin profit, long term is better than short term since bitcoin is inclined to increase in price in the long run.  This increase is fueled by government recognition to bitcoin as money, people adoption and company getting involved to Bitcoin economy.  I can see an exponential growth in price once every government see bitcoin as money and legalized its usage.  We can see the result when Japan acknowledge Bitcoin and major company  get involved too.  People come buying with FOMO in their mind that push btc price to surge up.

For long term trading you gotta have a lot of coins as much as when the price moves even %2 you could get a decent profit, unlike day trading which usually consist of penny trades.

Recently trading ETH-DASH-DOGE is a good choice if you ask me.
But some times Lisk can give you a decent profit if you know how and when to enter a position.
For us poor people the best option is day trading with penny profits.

In trading I prefer short-term investments. Because by choosing a short-term investment then I can earn income every time. I need money to live, so I will not wait long for money. Each person must have a different opinion. And I choose short-term investments as the top choice.
yeah there is many people like to short term investment but nowadays i think long term investment is much more better when we choose the long term investment then we can get a big profit and short term invest can give us low profit if someone try to gain a big profit then they can go to long term investment.

It is not correct always that long term investment gives good returns, if you are playing with altcoin then you have to see the project of that coin and then according to it you have to decide the investment plan but for bitcoin everything is possible according to the trader.

It seems like it depends on how much fluctuation there is in price. If the price has big price changes in a short period of time then short term trades may be better.

I don't really know what kind of trading term I should take,
But if I do have a huge capital I would prefer the long term trading but since I only have the small amount I would try the short term,
So I could see my profit in just a few hours or day.
The capital is the most important thing you need while trading and there are different ways to trade but you really do not want a really huge sum of money to trade,a couple of hundred dollars is more than enough to begin with and you can use arbitrary method with the amount of exchanges we have the opportunity is really high to see a price difference between exchanges.I prefer to trade according to the market sentiments rather than looking for the long haul.
