No one with a real degree (STEM) has ever regretted it.  Don't waste your time or money on anything with the word "Studies" in its name.

Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?
No matter where you are, or who you are, people should always go to college. If you do not have enough money, than start working and start going to college. I am telling you from my experience, i did not go to college because i did not want, and now i regret it. There is nothing decent to do with out it, even if you have rich family, people will look on you differently if you do not have degree.

Funny, how quickly you people jumped from getting an education (which is not tied to college degree anymore, anyway) to buying a social status. But you cant buy respect.

Elitist is a person who holds him or herself to higher standards than those of lesser beings because he or she is more honorable, intelligent, funny, good-looking, and awesome than the rest. Elitists are usually well-groomed and well-dressed, although this is a not one of their defining qualities. Also, elitists have the right to look down upon others but often don't for the sake of saving the time and effort needed to criticize those of lesser abilities.

You need to buy that?

Going to college is very important, it is so difficult to get a job now, with a higher education you will get more chance to get a job, if you dont have money, maybe you can get a side job to pay your college, or postponed your college and go to work, when you got enough money you can start your college

You should still go to college, maybe you think it is just wasting time and effort and even if you have graduated with a degree there is nothing more it can give than a piece of paper with your name on it, but remember that it is nice and also an advantage to have a degree than nothing, and just incase in the near future you might need it anyway.

That might be the worst advice Ive heard in a long time.

You are basically saying the man to throw away three or four years of his life and take up loan, that could buy him a house. For piece of paper with his name on it.

Thats fucking stupid.

Student debt is a weight that hangs around the necks of many college and university graduates. In fact, recent estimates show that the average student owes about $29,400 upon graduation.

You can make just as much money or more than college graduates doing welding or plumbing with the added benefit of no debts.

Thats the truth.

Oh yeah and unprotected sex on weekends too. You see working means, that he can pay rent of his own private apartment.

Yes you should and everybody should even if you are genuis everybody needs it. We need formal education to rate and record our knowledge academically. Even me I'm a graduate but I want to return to college class to take other course to add desirable skills and it will be a big help in getting new careers.

You are hilarious.

So you are graduate and spended years of your precious life and tens of thousands dollars of your parents on your formal education.

Yet you already need to return to college in "getting new careers"?

You know how we call that in eastern Europe? Useless.

Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?

Do you feel like partying for a few years, then take an arts course at college, feel like a career go to Trades School.
Feel like learning theory but not applying it in the workforce then go to University, want to try and make a fortune, use some of that education money and put it into cryptocurrency and see how that goes.

You can get wasted and have unprotected sex even without paying high school fees. Thats how men do it.

Why asking?  Of course you should go to college.  Well, yes, education does not define how will you be on your financial status.  YOu could still be broke or you could just have the normal financial status.  But of course, if you do not have skills or no good on business, it is better to be a degree holder.  You will not have a hard time finding a job.

Am of the believe that there is a lot more to gain if you go to collage and eventually become a graduate. All will now depends on the area you will specialise if you make it collage, am very sure that with your degree certificate you be able to get a well paid job.
Crypto Currency is an investment opportunity where you can make a lot of money to pay for your collage if i may advice.

you should go to college, thats what our parents use to tell us but today when almost everything can be done through internet its becoming less and less effective. Our opportunity lies now in how we use internet and not settling with jobs that required 8hrs a day with minimum wages.

yes you should go to college. There are more opportunities when you are a degree holder.
Of course you should go to school. First, learn to help you with the knowledge and skills to enter the world. Having a degree will also help you find a suitable job for yourself. As a educated person you will have good qualities. Even participating in bitcoin must learn and have insights.

I say no. Fuck college.

Unless you are maverick in the field of nuclear physics or medicine it is not worth getting into debt. Financially and personally youd be better off as a welder or electrician. You dont need no school for programming.

Gavin Innes published 20 reasons why modern college sucks, you doing free shit for somebody else and enduring useless courses being just a top of it.

https://resurgencemedia.net/2017/05/24/20-reasons-why-modern-schools-suck-by-gavin-mcinnes/

Anyone that has the possibility to go to college , should DEFINITELY go to college and not think of certain specific stories like the ones of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. For me they are just a few exception to the rule. College gives you a chance to fight equally to get a good job in life and have a better life compared to people who haven't got to college. Education is always good.

An education. Western postmodernist schooling and education are two different things - and the guy above will understand once he sees his paycheck. As fucking arts degree prepares you for career at McDonalds with massive debts.

Definitely you should. What's hindering you from taking up college? is it only the loan?

If your family can afford to send you to college, go, do it. But if not, then seek the assistance of your state, I don't know how it goes in USA, but in some countries, there is a free education.

If that's not possible, well, use your skills, build it up and earn from it and send your self to college.

In hindsight, I wouldn't have gone to college because I had not idea what I really wanted to be/do. Now I am 25 and have a much better idea. Also, stay away from drugs & alcohol... very, very, very bad stuff.

Well that depends on you bro, you dont need others to decide what path you should take. Remember whatever you might think on doing in your life. Always remember that you are right. But all i can do for you is recommend some suggestions, if you have a goal in life like a dream job then you should probably take college and pursue the course/field that you want but if you have a different goal in mind like investing in bitcoin and being apart with us the new rich gentlemen in the future. This digital currency might solve all your problems plus bitcoin is decentralized.

Hey Sadlife,

as i said before the school system is a waste of time ...

But if you're one of the people who just wanna get something to eat and that's it fine .. go to school waste 20 years of your life, to be able to waste the rest working in a job from 8 AM to 3 PM

School .. will give you exactly that !

But if you're different, if you wanna live a different life ...
Don't waste your life chasing marks Instead, chase the dream you always dream of and this, doesn't necessary require school

You can be a multi millionaire just playing games and upload them on YouTube " PewDiePie " The world has changed my friend  Wink

Yes, school can - after 20 years of studying - gives you a job but it can never give you the life you always dream of

let's look at the statistics

Only 27 % of the people work in a field that's related to their degrees .. And 80 % of the people hate their jobs 32 % of the most 100 richest people, don't have a college degree

And the rest their degrees aren't the reason of their wealthiness .

as i said before the school system is a waste of time ...
But if you're one of the people who just wanna get something to eat and that's it fine .. go to school waste 20 years of your life

So how did you learn to read write and add up?..
Now what happens if your parents move to another country and cannot speak the lingo
then what happens to the children if going to school is a waste of time.. Roll Eyes

You mean it's not worth paying for a degree ?..

See as well some jobs you do need a degree or you will not be employed ..

Plus some jobs you can earn good money and then invest as well as go to work..
Steady money and making money good smart life Wink..

Oh and it's easy saying don't get a degree if you made good money..

Hey dude,

Everything is about intent ...

School doesn't give you education, you'll waste 20 years from your life in school only to learn at the end how to read, write, subtract and add

And all this will be given to you at your first year in school but starting from your second year, you'll start some endless pointless race ..
With strange people to see who will get a higher marks

Basically all what you do in school is staying up late, getting frustrated, angry or even cry just to memorize some books which you know that you'll forget the second you finish the exams

The information you have before your school year starts .. is probably the same as the information you'll have week after finishing the exams

Ask yourself, your last year in school ..

After all the studying, books and the private classes you took ..

How much information you still memorize ?

And How much ( useful ) information from them can you name ?

You should take some time alone and ask yourself ..

If you're going to school just to memorize things you know you'll forget the second you finish the exams ..

Why are you still going to school ?

The whole school system was created thousands of years ago, to let the new generations take the information teachers and scientists have ..

But this is over now  ...

You don't need a teacher to tell you some basic information you're holding between your hands a device ..

That contains all the information mankind has ever know ..

All the things you studied, and all the things you didn't study ..

All the information about any picture, video, news or events that ever happened, are between your hands

We got used to go to school without thinking about it

and if you think your father makes you go to school because he cares about your education .. not because he wanna say "my son is in school"

Then you still don't understand

Let's play a game

Let's say they want you to make a choice between two ..

1- Is to study and understand all the books they gave you .. but in return you'll get a (C) in the exams ..

2- or you don't have to study or even come to school but in return you'll get (A+) in the finals, and be the top of your class ..

What would you choose ?

A 100 % guarantee you'll choose  the second option studying school books aren't necessary, cuz you know you'll forget them after exams anyway ..

And if the unluckily happened, and you appeared to be the type which actually cares about the books

Your parents will force you to choose 2, saying that what matters is the result at the end ...

School doesn't teach you anything, it only makes you memorize stuff a temporarily memorizing until exams pass

The useful outcome from any school year is zero

If we're talking about real education ... then one year of reading science articles or watching science documentary films just one year, will be worth more than 20 years of memorizing school books

The scientific researches say that schools aren't for learning

Schools are just for showing off

The best countries in education actually managed to get rid of the boring schools like we still have and replaced them with schools that care about every child as individual

Schools that try to understand every child's needs, dreams and what he wants to be ... to start shaping that path for him to let him work in a field he loves after growing up ..

So, if you think that you're going to school for education and to learn leave school and learn from the internet

And unlike school when you study things you hate .. you'll have the freedom of reading and time you won't suffer from any mental or psychological stress like you face in school and exams ..

And you'll be able to read the things you actually like

That's if we're talking about real education

All the courses from the best schools and universities in the world, are available online for free
I mean, the whole school courses are available on the internet !

Why would you force your kid to go to school studying tons of books about Engineering

When he actually hates engineering ?!

I mean, even if he got high marks in this subject, it still won't be considered success it's better for him to study just one book at home about something he actually likes

That's if you really care about your kid's education

School is not a system for education ..

But a system of vain memorizing, brainwashing and destroying the dreams of the children
For the sake of some marks that have nothing to do with every kid's own abilities

So if you're the controller of your life and not your parents as expected
Think about this again, and don't care about the society

You don't need to see the society does something for you to follow it

Society is a bunch of sheep, following each other

You don't need to wake up next morning finding that schools are gone for you to act different

There're already millions of people who study online and study the field they like and then earn the degree online from their home

You don't have to go to school if you're really looking for real education  Tongue
