You must recognize yourself if you have gambled in the past 5 years because it falls under the category of addiction. It just scale differently

I guess we are talking here about extreme gambling addiction. Those are the gamblers that would spend most of their time inside the casinos or in front of their computers or mobile phones.

In addition to OP, gambling addicts end up neglecting their life’s responsibilities and eventually ruin their personal relationships at home, work or in their circle of friends. And aside from having emotional distress and financial problems, these gambling addicts also tend to show loss of interest in other activities since they devoted most of their time trying to chase bigger wins with gambling.

Number four on the list is the main contributor to fueling further the addiction of gambling and every addiction in general. The problem here is that it needs to be stopped when the person acknowledges such thing and immediately should ask for professional help as the only true remedy to this big problem of our society nowadays. If it is left alone and no help is seeked then things can precipitate very fast south and the person can be found in an abyss of extra problems which can make the person feel depressed in the best of cases!

There are many different signs of gambling addiction, maybe we can see and maybe feel the signs, but believe me as long as we can still control it then we will not be addicted... I believe they have a limit in the bankroll for gambling so that this does not exceed the limit and also will not be addicted.

Don't gamble every day... Usually this will be a sign of addiction.
Should set a money management in gambling of at least 5% for gambling or below.
Do not make gambling a source of income, if YES then obviously you will be addicted.

Addiction comes before any harmful effects. I don't think you have to expect a harmful effect before you think you are addicted. People get addicted when they are winning much, in good or bad days people can get addicted. Addiction does not depends on a gambler having a bad time in gambling.

The inability to stop gambling starts from when a gambler is addicted to a particular game or action in the casino. It also starts from when we think we got a hack on the platform and so if we gamble more often we will win huge. The mentality forces the attitude and when the attitude becomes a norms to us then we get addicted. Anyway, i still believe that anyone can quit addiction.

Spending so much time gambling might be another sign of addiction. I think gambling addiction shouldn't be related only to the uncontrollable desire to stake money but also to the amount of time spent on betting platforms. I don't think mode swing can be used to judge symptoms that a gambler is developing in an addict because mode swing is what happens to everyone in certain situations, like the feeling of nostalgic. So whether you are a gambler or not, you can feel bad in certain moments of your life and at another time you are excited and over excited depending on what you are feeling that time and the experience you are having.

However, I want to suggest this to be a symptom.

Repeated impulse to gamble : So I believe whatever you are doing that you like doing that thing then you are addicted to always doing that and in the case of going back to gambling, it means you are addicted to it especially when you complain of regret, hate and wish to discontinue it. If you have such pulse to gambling everytime, you are therefore addicted to it.

Starting from number 1 to 4, the main point is what causes someone to be addicted based on a theory that can be searched for its source.
I am lucky that starting from number 1 to 4 including number 5 I did not experience.

This is not intended to campaign that gambling is not good but the practices carried out by gamblers are wrong.
All of the points mentioned in the OP can be realized by gamblers but when that atmosphere starts to appear, it means a break is needed.

Yes, this is the worst outcome for a gambling addict, I have seen it myself as one of my close friends lost everything, his business because of her falling to the gambling addiction and then he has a lot of personal loans that keeps haunting her back (and us as well because we are close friends and so those people that she has loaned, they talk to us).

So it's very very destructive for someone not only lost all her money, but his one and only business that could have gotten her back in her feet. And now we really don't know how we can help here since she is still on the denial stage but we all know that she has lost everything in gambling but she doesn't want to admit it.

You have done well to analyze the signs of gambling addiction and I'm very much in agreement with everything said. I just want to focus on this number 5, that focuses on financial issues on gambling addiction because it centers on the wastefulness of gambling addiction. This type of addiction starts with not gambling with the amount that you can afford to loose, if you start to use the money for other expenses to gamble, then you should know that you're becoming addicted.

If a gambler doesn't control the urge to always gamble, it can degenerate to selling of properties and borrowing to satisfy the gambling urge. The effect will eventually make the gambler to becoming bankrupt and being in dept. People should not see gambling as a major source of income, I believe that this is the reason why people will over gamble in the hope of recovering loses and make profits from it. But they should understand that the probability of losing on the long run is far greater than winnings.

All of those sums up about the signs of a person that's certainly a gambling addict. They are quick in changing mood swings and they are in denial stage that they think everything is under control even if they are not. Also, financially, they are having troubles with it, they will sell everything just to keep on gambling and much worse when they're selling everything that they have that they have saved and accumulated through their hard work. It's sad to see people that goes that far and still, they're not able to shell out themselves just to protect their own habit and sanity.

For me this is the worse. When addiction kick in, and even you dont have money to gamble anymore, your tendency is to sell your stuff or borrow money and the end is will be filled with debts and somehow your mind would crash and the next I dont what to say, some ended up commiting suicide due to it and some just become crazy or got some mental problem due to gambling addiction.

It is important to feel this fine line that you mentioned. But the fact is that most players do not feel it at all. Such thought would have been very useful if what gambling is all about is working for the company and getting paid, but gambling is all about luck, using "maybe you can win if you try again" is a bad strategy, since we don't have control over luck we need to take it easy and try not to depend heavily on gambling.

The only reason why gamblers chase losses is because they risked what they shouldn't have risked on gambling, the expectations is too high I guess, understanding how casino runs this business is enough to solve emotional swings when gambling, the less your expectations the better.

Everything is clear, we are all addicts... each of these signs has been felt by everyone at least once in their gambling career, and some more than once. As I have written many times, it is not a matter of whether we are addicted to something or not, we are human and we are addicted to many things. The thing is whether we can control that addiction or not. If we can control it then we will be relatively moderate in it and it won't hurt much in the long run, but if we can't control it the addiction will eat us sooner or later.

It's not chasing losses anymore when gambling is calling you in your head every day telling you to deposit one more time and try your luck. Then, it will be a never-ending one last time. This is where someone must help out, especially to that gambler who is close to him. They should know, they must know, and it's easy to tell with all their emotional swings.
