Only reason I have so much power is I got tired of paying residential rates and the heat generated by my 30 gpu rigs, as well as the constant brownouts in the summer.

the power company only offered buisness demand service in my residentail zone for 500 or more amp service so I had to go big needed a city permit for a whole new pole and transformer which took three months for approval.

total project cost for my electrician was 15k , which i only had. due to the spike in eth prices from feb to march

I have a question about the 2400 watt server PSUs with dual breakout boards.  Is that PSU built as 2 separate PSUs in one housing, with 1200 watts allocated to each breakout board? Or is it 2400 watts that can be broken up in different amounts, ie. 800 watts on one breakout board and 1600 watts on the other breakout board?

*I know you shouldn't run 2400 watts through it, I'm just keeping the math simple. Wink

Each board can do 1900watts

But the total of the two boards is 2400 or lower.


So 1600 - 800 is a yes

If you take a meter and use a negative from 1 side and a positive from other side

You get 12 volts means  the boards share the same rail.

Btw there are at least two versions of the boards.

I have five of these psus . They are solid

That's good to know that the breakout board can support 1900 watts. I don't anticipate having anywhere near that much on it, but it's good to have an idea of their capacity.  We have 3 of those PSUs in use since Spring this year and they have been excellent, we just haven't hooked up any rigs that draw enough power to have to worry about their capacity (yet). This one is in assembly now, so we'll be up to 13 rigs soon. Smiley

1080 tis would be better than Rx due to lower tdp?  I really love
Rx cards due to thier dual mining prowess and i dont even dual mine smh

p.s why only 52kw? are you not doing 240 or 208v ? 1200 amps at 240 would be far
more power?

edit:  check this old house on youtube, you can install those yourself if you are comfortable with that kind of work.

yeah he has 600 amp service

I have 150

the solar array has 400

but if we do the solar array expansion  we will add

400+400+400 = 1200 amps.

this translates to about 39kwatts in the winer  and 52kwatts in the summer

We could run about 200x  1080 ti's

we are planning a mix

1070

amd 64
amd 56

maybe some ltc or x11 or d3 asics

my god 400 amps from a solar array? thats insane how many panels did that take? thats another reason Im heaitant to install roof fans since at some point I want solar on my house roof and the garage I was told i could fit 100 panels

between the house and garage , how much power could I generate with 100 solar panels?  and can u raise the panels higher on the roof so it covers the vents?

@fr4nkthetank , thanks for the tip? 3 hours to install six fans though? yes I am ordering the fans from zoro , they have a 20 percent discount on hvac gear.

wont you have to still open holes in the roof? I still need a roofer and an electrician to install the fans , I wonder how much it costs to install 8 fans lol and two with curbs

A big mean looking dog would keep away casual snoopers and petty burglars.  Actually anything much bigger then a healthy cat will keep most sane people away.  I'm not sure if that's an option for you, but a good dog is a wonderful crime deterrent.

 Personally I dislike dogs, but a few "territorial except for family" Maine Coons I could deal with.

I use 3200 cfm for 10-13kwatts  in the summer it is barely enough



Ahh very smart man Genius, I could even use low cost supply vents right instead of passvive for intake maybe ? to help move the air along better ?

** these are also downblast supply so I think these are filtered air , most downblast exhaust fans like the ones used on restarurnts filter outgoing air

those suppluy fans seem quite powerful 3600 or so CFM they might be to loaud for my build

maybe a 14 inch unit or two but the CFM dropps a ton down to 1600

Lol my negbors dogs are right next to my garage hard enough to sleep right now with thier barking

redirect some of your miners exhaust to them then. lol hope i won't be flamed for animal cruelty. but i feel you man if the dog barks middle of the night it really get on your nerves.

each of those are 1500 CFM , come with humidifer control, only problem is it does not match my roof color oh well maybe i can have them painted ?

I could buy around 5 or six and space them nicely around the garage roof (its huge btw like a guest house)

6x1500 CFM would be a whopping 9000 CFM of exhuast really cheap too total price would be around $600 after the discounts

there are around 24inches wide though, most i could do is around 8.

Another issue with this is the multiple holes in the roof, If in the future I decided to go with a more powerful single or dual unit install, all those hoes would have to

be patched, unless maybe I group them all in one area , but  I would rather spread them around to spread out the heat right ?

Well we have 3 GTX 1080s, 2x GTX 1080 Ti, and 1x GTX 1070 sitting on a shelf here waiting for enough time to assemble the rig. My main concern was if they draw full power at startup it would be around 1190 watts for the 6 GPUs. We may just slap the 1070 on the ATX PSU that powers the mobo... or put a GPU over on the other breakout board if need be as you said. (The other side will have a 6 x Rx 570 rig on it so there's some power to spare on that side).

It's jut one PSU, but it has two connectors, so the load is spread out between those two connectors and breakout boards.

That's what I thought from looking at it, but short of tearing it apart I wasn't sure.  Being able to have more then 1200 watts through one breakout board is the main issue, but it sounds like that shouldn't be an issue in this case.

I wouldn't put more than 1200 watts through one of the breakout boards.  Spread out the PCIe connectors across both when you set it up.
