4U server case with the Onda mobo. But this case uses the 4 extra pcie 1x slot too. Supports 12 gpus and comes with 2 PSU for $580.

This tilts the economics to favor mid range gpus.

I love the description on the fans "3 violent fan 5000 turns 12CM".  That's gotta be loud I'm guessing.

so 4 avalons         offline  = 27th
1 new pangolian   offline  = 11th
3 s-9's                 offline  = 40th

78th down since  2am  about six hours.

I will be troubleshooting it.

you need a dual WAN router for two internet connections, have a fail over connection automatically.
  good idea

gear is a buysolar's place

that would have worked

I found issue  the 200 foot ethernet cable from his home based router to the loft  had a poor connection.

loose wire .  it is working now

Buysolar and I will have to setup the dual WAN router  from his home to the loft space.

you have a link for that style of router.
i have netgear prosafe fvs336gv2

other brands like cisco, asus, tp-link etc...have "dual wan" and-or "load balancing" term attached to their specific model names....just read the reviews of them if they are good, and if they have more features-don't mind them, just use the dual wan capability.

@gabyrox

just made a bcc wallet

will be emptying my cryptopia account today

1HoSSK7rREJfohtf1gSesanzovmLXYkpA7 (own address)

what a mess  too much stuff

1 dead board.
1 board short along with 1 cpu

10 boards on the way

5 sold
1 for doa
1 for the one never sent out

leaves 3.  I MAY NOT be selling the three.

next solar array crash is fixed 1 bad ethernet cable shut down 78th  for 6 to 12 hours

worse it caused a boot loop on a 2300 usd [parts cost]  booted 3 times a minute for hours.

not sure how dead that pc is  will tear it down on monday I hope it is just the ssd which is bad enough.

more stuff  will need a redundant ethernet cable to the switch in the  array loft along with a router with 2x backup.

Still  things are decent about 2000 a month in the garage
and 2000 a month in the array to split
and 600 a month with my friends office

means 3300 a month for me

and 4 s-9's on the way.

other dead gear

1 fully burnt s-9 board
1 dead s-9 board could not be fixed I got a discount on an s-9
1 fully dead avalon 741 was replaced but I got to keep the dead one.  still can not fix it.
and the pc  I mentioned is dead
and 2 dead  psus

my s-9's should ship soon it would be nice if they came before thanksgiving,

Hey everyone... a bit off-topic for this thread i know but wanted to give you all a heads-up about something since many of you here have helped me so much in my mining endeavors over the past year.

This warning is for anyone either with or considering opening an acct with Cryptopia. You can read more details in the thread linked below, but in a nut-shell, my account there got hacked in early Sept and I lost about $1,200 USD in coins, even though I had safety protocols in place that prohibited withdrawals without 2FA.

According to their support, there were multiple log on attempts to my account and finally they were successful. First huge red flag is in their statement about multiple attempts. how on earth was my account not automatically locked after 2-3 failed attempts?  whatever the answer, this is completely the fault of Cryptopia.  In addition, as mentioned, I have 2FA in place for withdrawals, but the hackers circumvented this buy buying up some unknown shyt-coin then dumping it all at 3% of the cost... obviously to themselves via another account that was not withdrawal protected, but again, this is a huge short-coming on their part to not have some kind of stop-gap in place to prevent such obvious criminal behavior.

The other thing I will mention is the ridiculous response times from their support. It took them 1 week to initially respond to my message about my acct being locked, then another full week to respond to my response.  They did explain what had happened but at the end, only apologized for any inconvenience or loss and made no offer of restitution.  After confirming the activity myself, I responded to them stating that I expected full restitution since both measures I mentioned above were their responsibility meaning I had no culpability in this whatsoever. Of course, it's only been a day but no response as of yet.  one thing is for sure... if they do not return the coins to my wallets as before the hack, I will make it my mission in life to make sure everyone in this and other forums know what a complete joke they are. Maybe they will surprise me and do the right thing who knows... but I am not going to hold my breath.

Hey Guys,

What are your thoughts on the obelisk dcr and sia asic miners?

Do any of you plan to get them as they are now on pre-order?

If these were available now... or even by the end of this year... I would get at least 1 of the DCR models as currently it's $170 net profit/day so only about 2 weeks to ROI.  Unfortunately, there are a couple of big drawbacks with these.

1- Won't be shipped until at least mid-2018... so about 8-9 months from now lol!  This is a complete joke imho.  That is FOREVER in the crypto world... so much can happen that could make these defunct upon shipping. Most notably is the increasing difficulty of DCR.  It's already spiked bad in the last 2-3 months and although it most likely won't get ridiculous to the degree that DASH has recently, 8-9 months is still a VERY long time. It's entirely possible that DCR rewards will be down to $10/day by the time these ship, meaning they will never ROI.  I guess you could make an arguement that with ETH mining almost done, DCR diff will stay relatively flat since I think most people are dual mining ETHash & DCR, but there are still some other ETHash coins that will likely remain profitable to mine... esp if AMD can get their damn drivers fixed for Vega... and more Vega's hit the market... so this just seems really risky to me.

2- I have a big problem tying up $2,500 in capital for 8-9 months.  Right now that's about .33 BTC but by mid-'18, BTC could very easily be at $15k... meaning I effectively lost $2,500 off the bat... then probably won't even recoup the other $2500 due to what I mentioned above.

I would suspect that this is why they haven't sold many of these yet. Seems WAY riskier than even recent Bitmain releases... and look what happened with their recent LTC shipments.

I would say there are 2 much better options to use $2500 now.  1- build a 4x Vega 56 rig and either dual mine ETC + DCR or put it on XMR/ETN or other cryptonote coin.  or 2- just invest it in BTC or another coin.  2 months wait i would do it... 8-9 months? no freaking way!

Comes with the PSUs?  That case looks very interesting but the price is higher than I would like.  I wonder if they really include those nice Delta fans I see in the pictures?  It would be a pleasant surprise to get a case where you don't have to replace all the fans right away.

Got this 9 slot + 1 compute PCI working with smOS/EWBF/200core/1400mem/PL 120 powered by 2400w Delta server PSU
With 1 x 1070ti with PL 120, draws 172watts so that whole PCI base compute card eats about 50w.
All 8 cards in ~ 1070watts.

This will be for the Zotac 1070ti Mini x 8 project.

I will continue to populate all 8 onto this mobo and see how it runs.

Its past midnight here and will finetune the clocks tomorrow morning.
Looks like this 1070ti can run 550 sol/s with the right clocks and power.
I will need to bring this board to the farm and let it rock.
I cant experiment higher watts in my workbench area.

Note: The 8 slot Colorful B250 board is still missing the custom male-to-male 4pin GPU cable. The seller has agreed to send them for free  Grin and I just pay for shipping. I may standardize on the Colorful board for the farm because it will be fully powered with Delta server PSU too - and I can have my choice of CPU.

The 9 board mobo has a PCI based compute board (builtin kaby-lake CPU with 4gb DDR4 Sodimm all in), its very small form factor ... the upside to this board is that its plug and play with NVIDIA cards (No changes in BIOS) but I dont know why it didnt post with AMD cards. So this VS the Colorful B250 mobo without CPU, DDR4.... it may come to the same price.

I got the one board working with 6 nanos , temps are higer than risers though due to the closeness of the cards
like 10-20 degrees warmer than with risers due to what I think is the spacing between cards you can acomplish with risers

still though Im so sick of risers ,  maybe with cooler runing cards like 1070s this build would work best

1070 Tis seem to run cooler than the 1070s.

No, blower style Vega56.

all the same hight correct?
Yup. All Sapphire RX Vega 56.

Fan on top of those cards isn't going to help much unless it's blowing air down at the "blower fan" intake for the cards - in which case it might help some.

nope  if fan is in front near video ports  it pulls a lot of air up and out..all back plates feel hot

and you pull it up and out  so the back plate tosses much less hot air at the  blower fan it is close to

Put the fan right over the blower intakes - blow cool air into them (and the air pushes the heat from the backplate away from the blower intake).

If the fan is placed near the back of the cards by the brackets, it would make sense to have it pulling air out, but I believe it would be less efficient at keeping cool air going into the cards - and it shortens fan life since the fan it having to deal with hotter air.

I have a 12" oscillating desk fan that I could place in front of the rig, it pushes more air than 3 120mm PC fans together. I also have four 200mm PC fans I could use. I'll play around with different configs!

The slots that are near the edge of the board, are those pcie slots ?  As in could you drop some risers there and run more cards ?

yup. although none of us have tried yes afaik.

Yeah it works. On alibaba's listing it shows 4 more gpus running off risers on the 4 slots.

I've only been mining for about a half of a year, so I haven't had all of the riser head aches most of you veterans have had.  Therefore I'm still on the risers train.  I'll take my chances at 10-11 cards on this one

i wonder what voltages those 4 pin molex and sata connectors need? I can get 12v/5v via sidehacks adapter but i cant get 3.3v for the sata. if it needs the 3.3v too a server based build is out, i would have to go with an atx psu. i would rather go server psu.

Good question.  I know the sata connector standard does include 3.3V but very few drives actually use it.  I too would much prefer just feeding everything with a server PSU and a PICO, but it doesn't look like that is going to be possible.

the video cards use 3.3v (at least risers provide it) but i wonder how much? hoping the 24 pin connector can provide enough from the pico. depends on how the board designed i suppose.

ordered a g4400 and 8 gb ram, so the Great Experiment will commence next week hopefully Smiley
