Seasonic is cheaper, so why buy Corsair?

I am looking for PSU for my 6 RX570 rig no risers Onda board.
Each card undervolted is up to 100w.
No risers so total power would be about 700w.

So 2x750w gold certified should be sufficient.
Or 2x850 if the price is good

I'm looking to buy 2x850 Seasonics.

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/ax860-atx-power-supply-860-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-fully-modular-psu-na-refurbished

these are 140

and use 16 gauge

and are plats

https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-SS-850KM3-Active-ATX12V-EPS12V/dp/B004ETEFTK/ref=sr_1_1?

seasonic are   more money

less watts

18ga cable

they are golds

lastly  the are first quality    better warranty    .

I use corsair reburbs all the time they are pretty good for atx.

Rosewill  quarks  are also pretty good they use 16 ga cables

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-Quark-Series-850W-80-PLUS-Platinum-Full-Modular-Power-Supply/172183274675?

buy 2 for 120 each = 240 -25= 215 net   these are first quality.

5 year warranty.     this is a very very very very good deal

4 x  3 eight pin pcie cables that  will do 200 watts easy peasy

you can run 3 1080 tis at 200 watt setting 24/7/365

I built a lot of rigs with these.

At QuintLeo    "There are no pussies in mining"

As for Evga Hybrids or msi Seahawks.

they do cost more

but the 1080tis all do 710 sols easy peasy

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-gfx-gtx-1080-ti-liquid-cooled-graphics-card

799  plus 10 to ship = 810  no sales tax

they do very well on easy clocks  like 165 watts

 But where are the cats?

Did some digging/research tonight, and I think I've found my new "go-to" power supply.

Corsair AX860 - which appears to be the Seasonic SS-860 Platinum in Corsair packaging, right down to the same model fan (but the case and fan mount are Corsair-specific).
I wonder if the cables are the same between the two?

Too bad they didn't clone the X-850 Gold into one of their models.

EVGA G2 850 remains my "backup" option, but the lower count on power supply side connectors remains an issue with my current "normal" rig build.

I want to buy 8 more 1080 Ti by the end of the year.  My first 8 were hybrids (two rigs with 4 each).  I'm thinking that's a better strategy.  But the lowliest EVGA board is almost $150 cheaper.  That's $1200 more overall.

I like the hybrids because I mine in my basement near my office and I don't want a ton of noise, so I think (hope) the hybrids are quieter.  I also believe that they run cooler and will have a better shot at being reliable.  Finally, when it's time to retire them I think they might be easier to sell.

What do you all think about that?

Hybrids pretty much always maintain a lower temp.
They are usually quieter, though if you're running at "efficient" settings the noise difference is very small.
Lower temp USUALLY gives better long-term reliability.

The only minus to hybrids is the COST.

found a deal  on a new rx 580 8gb

at amazon it is 348
https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Multimedia-Radeon-Graphics-RX580D58G/dp/B075L1R636/ref=sr_1_3?

but straight from the dealer it is 299 with free shipping

http://www.diamondmultimediastore.com/diamond-amd-rx580-video-card

Thanks for the heads up Phil. Apparently, card prices have moved back to Crazy Town. I picked up some 8GB Red Dragons and Red Devils for $249 and $269 four weeks ago from NewEgg and now they are $400. I picked up a set of these Diamond MMs just to be able to offset some profit from the year. I haven't owned a Diamond card since the 7970s.

Haven't seen them jump THAT much, but AMD card pricing DOES seem to be climbing some again after the Black Friday sales ended.
The price surge in late November/December timeframe is at fault of course - rekindled demand after a couple-three months of slump.

YouTube.com/VoskCoin

Just received the 315$ miner posted earlier in the thread, surprisingly the quality is better than my expectations.
What I received is board, case,1600W power supply with 10 6Pin connectors, 3 delta fans, 8 cables (6 pin to 6 pin)
What i didn't expect  is that K17 board is smaller than the colorful and have tighter slots spacing

The Good

Delta fans
Case quality is good
PSU quality looks similar to bitmain PSU
6 fan connectors
2 ram slots
Work with both Msata and M.2

The Bad
PSU fan running 100%
board spacing is horrible, 570/580 Nitro cards didn’t fit
No possibility of Sata HD

So far after testing 3 different 8GPU boards , Onda is ranked number one mainly for slot spacing .

Couldn't imagine trying to even fit these in there lol //onda shown in pic

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
i love my onda b250 d8p v1. as for longevity, we will see but its rock stable for me so far.

"gaming" boards are more about cpu/memory power phases and stability (for those monster OCs), better sound, "optimized" networking etc. stuff that mining boards do not need. miners are a different beast. all they they need is full size slots, decent spacing between slots and a BIOS that caters to multi gpu configs. basic power delivery to the cpu and memory is fine as no one is going to oc the cpu and memory (well maybe cpu miners but then get a gamer mobo for that).

back in 386/486/pentium/p2/p3/p4 days boards were very basic, and i had rigs that ran for pretty much for years 24/7 and they were still running when i retired them. and basic is all a mining board needs.

the gaming boards i bought wasn't so extreme....I was just going for solid/good capacitors, I've seen problematic boards back then with bloated/leaking caps.

gaming boards are sturdy, not too thin...maybe they can also handle mining room heat better with their heat sinks, even though they are not overclocked, GPUs are heating them.

only gaming boards have 4-5 pcie sockets around 2007-2009..........so obliviously they are my pick

i had two boards get the bad caps thing, one was an intel brand board that only had a couple bad caps (think it was maybe a g33 chipset? intel released a statement that it would not effect the boards operation) the other manufacturer dont recall. they both ran ok even with leaking caps surprisingly, but the one that was really bad (pentium 3) took a few boots to get going from a cold start. once it was up it was fine.

hybrids are much quieter then normal gpu rigs

and you can swap the  fans  to get a little quieter.

here is a card for you to buy

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-gfx-gtx-1080-ti-liquid-cooled-graphics-card
Good choice  Smiley  That's the card I bought for my first rig.   Smiley Smiley

I have 4 of these in my second build
https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6698-KR

Like them a tiny bit better.  They seem a little bit quieter than the Corsairs and hash a little better (although have not been up for a whole week yet).  Also like that the fan power lead is integrated into the card.  On the Corsairs I had to buy a little fan controller to plug all 4 into my mobo.

Could be the radiator fans aren't turning as fast on the EVGA.  Those cards are about 46C while the Corsairs are at 40C.

I purchased corsair fans an put them on the evga's as I like the colors

I have most all of the evga hybrids

and most all of the msi seahawks
I like the lighted fans too.

nice neat clean builds.  I am anti riser , but I do like your work.

@ yankees

Many  people are into aggressive clocks.

This build  can do 4300 sols  instead of 4025. .

but the last 275 sols  cost  200 watts.

I would need do 75+120+120+120+120+200+200+200= 1155 this would be  about 1260 on the kwatt meter

instead of          61+104+104+104+104+165+165+165= 972   this reads 1060 on kwatt meter

So instead of a perfect build  or close to perfect build  if you do mellow clocks  some miners  believe  that squeezing out that last 275 sols  even at the cost of  200 watts  should

be done.

All of you who read this  that mine that way  its cool  keep mining that way justify  it anyway you want if  that works for you.

I do not want to stress the mobo  or the pcie cables  so I stay happy with my lower clocks.
