Interesting.  I never thought of that.  Thanks for yet another great idea.

Its a like a "free" proxy - MRR doesnt seem to mind... unless they penalize users for free loafing -- as per ATCkit reported about lower hash. Putting an expensive rate would make your rental un-attractive and default to designated pools when not rented.

Anyone know why nicehash is paying so much for cryptonight?

You can check what they are paying here:

https://old.nicehash.com/index.jsp

Unfortunately their minimum difficulty of 300k (I think) for cryptonight makes it impossible for my small rigs to do anything at any stable hashrate there.

I mean, averaged over time the diff should not affect profitability......

Normally yes, but with difficulty that high some of my rigs won't find a share for lets say an hour.  During that hour my hash rate is considered zero by nicehash.  Then I find a share and nicehash say hey good job you!  You get a star that's worth 1k hash rate.  Find another one and I'll raise that but if you don't find another one within 5 minutes I'm putting you back down in the penalty box back down to 0 hash rate.  I don't know what the exact numbers are or the exact timing but that's what's happening to me if I compare my hash rate for cryptonight between nicehash and say dwarfpool.  My rigs will get counted for 1k of hash for say 3/4 the time and zero for the remaining which gives me 75% of my actual hash rate.  Now if my rigs were a faster say 5k and I miss an expected share not that big of a deal because like you said it will average out when I find an extra share but it will only drop to 4k hash rate calculated for that time.  The times I get 6k will make up for that bad luck portion.  Unfortunately though in my scenario the likelihood of me finding two blocks instead of one in the given amount of time at the nicehash difficulty is extremely rare so my average never picks back up.  So for the small miners or CPU miners I found it not worth it to mine cryptonight at nicehash.  Maybe others would have better luck.  I was hoping to find a XMR Proxy that would work with nicehash so I could pool all my small rigs into one larger looking rig but I couldn't find any.

You can try using MRR as a proxy - streaming into NH.

Interesting.  I never thought of that.  Thanks for yet another great idea.

dstm miner works great.  Hashrates are for me about 8% higher than ewbf on pretty much all gpu's I have.  Rock stable for me.  You should give it a try.

really I have one rig thats doing equihash using otiminer 4.3 700 sols or so per 1080ti and 450 sols per 1070, you really see more than that wth dstm ?

I only use 75% power though on all my nivdia cards

Whats your thoughts on keeping the miner on the balcony if it remains running 24/7?
There will be some wind, not much. Condensation? Bad for cards etc?
Mine runs pretty hot ~~ 78C in my room, and theres also noise id like to get rid of.

EDIT: should mention my balcony is closed, with windows I can open. Its pretty cold in there tho

what gpu's

if they are nvida  what tdp?

if your tdp is 85%  drop it to 70%

then see what the gpu's do.

your balcony  could be good  with the window open 1 or 2 inches

I used to do rent my rigs via MRR in 2014-Q3 2015. Whenever I found the rental fee better on NH, I'd increase my MRR rate. That way, my rigs stayed on NH unless someone wanted to pay the rate I was asking on MRR. Sometimes, I'd put Kano in the priority position.
Then, the hash rates began to fall when using MRR as a proxy. I haven't used it for 2 years.

Has MRR fixed that issue?

So far so good - I dont see any issues (ie. reduced hash rate)... however I will try activating the rental with a high rate and see what happens. Thanks for the tip ATCkit

is that mining rigs rental?

Yup..... but for the GPU farm, so far so good without proxy server to NH.

However, if you many miners/wokers/Asics, instead of setting up private proxy server, I use MRR proxy nodes under the pretense of using their renting service, disable rental so that it will default to pools that you setup in MRR portal.

This way, I can switch pools at a click of a button. Saved me plenty of work for my group's hosted ASICs in Canada ~ 496 Asics now. Imagine changing pools for each of them remotely via TeamViewer - its no picnic.

Installed dstm v054 on my best Windows 1080ti rigs - so far so good - will let them work overnight.

I've been on dstm for 4 weeks now, much more stable than EWBF, running Nvidia 1070 and 1080ti rigs without issues.

At least it has an active developer ...

EDIT: Hoping it makes its way to SMOS soon.

I sent an email to Tytanick on adding the miner before BTG mining starts -- hope he checks his email soon

And also support for Vega would be nice Smiley

Theranos Coin - IoT + micro-blood arrays = Moon!
I've RMA'd two already. This will be the third. This time I'm going to try to ask them to send me another model back. I'm putting 600W load onto them. It's within spec. They should really not die within a few months. I believe they probably use better quality components on the higher-range of their PSUs... but then they shouldn't advertise the GQ series as being "gold" efficiency (if they're only going to be "golden" for a few months that is - they are pretty dark brown in my book).

Yeah, the GQ series should be avoided.  G2 is a different story, very good.  I had a 1,000 GQ crap out pretty fast.  EVGA did turn around the RMA pretty quickly though.

"Gold" is an efficiency rating, NOT a "how well engineered for long life" rating.
Gold-rated power supplies TEND to be better engineered, but not always.

Biggest issue I have with the GQ series (AND the new G3 series) is that junk "fancy name sleeve bearing" fan in the things - they DO NOT LAST in high-load high-temp environments anywhere near as long as ball bearing fans do (like the G2 series uses).
Oh I know it's not a quality but an efficiency rating. But when the psu sports an 80+ gold rating, it means it should be able to sustain the constant 80% load I put them under (which those GQ do... just not for very long, apparently). In any case I was wrong/lucky on that third PSU. It ended up being a fried connector to one of the risers. So that PSU's off the hook... for now Cheesy

@dragonmike -- AMD's are not so great on Equihash. I would put them to work on Cryptonite or ETH.
Yeah I know, but if BTG becomes a short-term cash cow, it might still be worth having the AMD rigs ready anyway. Wouldn't hurt. I'll try readying up the Claymore AMD miners.

when does btg start?

I think I will run 3000 sols at it

and run 5200 sols at zec

I have more gear on order I may boost those numbers.
