Just pick a good place, You don't need to spend your life in an uninhabited island because it's the most bitcoin-friendly nation in the world, don't go to Russia too. Just pick a good EU country and build a farm house or an apartment in a metropolis, Your pick Smiley

selecting EU country is good choice that OP can do and i think its a good idea to build a farm house with a new family and we lived there. just enjoy your day with your profit, make a new profit while you are busy with your family, spend your life with the family. its all of my dreams in the future. but i think you should have more than 10k bitcoin to enjoy your life without fearing about anything and if you need the money, you can cash out your bitcoin to buy something.

Tenthousand Bitcoin ? I said SMALL fortune. Smiley  But i´m working on it.

Funny thing is, from a certain threshold on, it keeps coming in by itself . . .

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, i´m free to go wherever i want (she´ll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

Would say Philippines but having a place that is near the mountains so you can escape the worst of the monsoon season is best, albeit there is landslide risk Baguio is likely a nice area to be if you just want to relax.
That or Canada that is very Bitcoin friendly could be a snowbird between the two.

What about Quatar or Saudi Arabia? I read that they're nice countries and you could find many local investment possibilities. I understand that you'd like to settle down, but even while living your peaceful life, continuous investments will be needed to protect it.

Saudi Arabia ? My girlfriend says: No !
To be clear about it, she´s my girlfriend for over 30 years, so she has a saying in it.

I second the motion for the Philippines. I maybe biased since this is my country but we are one of the most foreigner-friendly countries there is in the whole world and we can speak English well so there is no big communication challenge at all. There are many places you can visit here and probably stay for good like a retiree. Beautiful places, beautiful people, beautiful weather, nice foods, nice smiles...and you can use your Bitcoin here.

Please, You can be beautiful as much you want, but the next typhoon will straighten things out, i´m watching that every year and every year i say: i´ll never settle there ! !
But for a holiday, or two, it´s great !

I am not from Japan but seeing the development in that country better to go in that country and settle it so that if you are going to do business in cryptocurrency you will be free from tax and it is legal their so you dont have to worry about it. 25% of you stock convert it to fiat currency and buy a house and some usefull things in life and then balance keep in bank and what ever you are going to earn in interest enjoy with it balance 75% crypto currency you can do daily small trading and enjoy in that . Give your girl what ever she wants and keep her happy

This sounds like a really bad relationship strategy. She will be spoiled as **** if you cater to every wish of your gf  Grin

Philippines.

Get a beach house, or live in the city, or get a few acres of land ... Put a wall around it. Hire security or bodyguards.
When you have kids, hire a nanny for each. Send them to private schools.
Cash out in 2 or 3 major exchanges, or make it a daily routine to sell to locals.

But, don't do drugs.

A relatively large 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 or 3 car garage home, with a swimming pool, in a gated community will set you back about 10 to 20 million pesos, or 200k USD to 400k USD.

*edit* at 53, expect to live to maybe 83 ? so that's 30 years. You better have at least 1000 BTC (at today's prices) if you want to be comfortable without too much additional work. Get a token job for income tax purposes, but usually the government will leave you alone if you blend in.

That's 3 BTC per month for 30 years, more or less. Don't exceed that budget. You wouldn't unless you do something stupid. Just be smart about it. As a foreigner, you might spend more on local food (coconuts?) but just tip the waiters an extra 10~15% and you will get excellent service most of the time.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

He said a small fortune... if he can spend 3 BTC per month he sure can go to a better country than Philippines which looks like a perfect place to get one of those exotic diseases... no thanks, I dont want to be constantly paranoid about killer mosquitoes.

Pretty sure there are better countries in Europe if you can afford to spend 6.440 USD a month (who the hell does that?)

Lol, Philippines is over, europe and africa as well. Australia (to expensive). But "Serbia" sounds interesting, is it EU ? Well, judging by his post its not the first financing the EU.

I think the other options considered in this thread are better (Italy, Spain, Portugal). Nice weather, great food, and yes taxes are higher, but if you go to a place like Switzerland, they may not rape you with taxes, but they will rape you with high cost of living. Canada is also too expensive.

All those asian countries are out of the picture for me to be honest. If I ever get rich from BTC (1 BTC would need to hit 6 figures) I will not go there. You are probably a constant target by being non native.

What about some cheaper EE countries like Czech Republic? the weather may not be as good as south europe, but it's still a reasonably safe place, and I think it can be cheap to live, and the girls are beautiful. Not sure about how much taxes you would pay with BTC tho.

OP needs to answer at least two questions:

1. Citizenship and legal or residency status in any other country, (do you have a green card or it's equivalent)
2. How much is your bitcoin stash? No need to give exact amount, just an idea. 100? 1000? Can you buy a pizza? (10k)? Do you have more bitcoins than Roger Ver claims? (300k) ?

Sorry but who would want to go to a country on the brink of civil war with the guy in charge threatening everyday with martial law?

It's easy to hide from the government when they're busy running after other bad guys. (Plus we're friends with the guy in charge.)

the op has no interest in answering these questions. i think he's an amateur geographer who enjoys collecting opinions about countries around the world.

It will be a lot of choice because there are many people here. But I believe that the place I am staying at this time is the best place. The best thing is to live in the country where you were born and also where your ancestors are. It's the hometown that always makes everyone want to come back. You do not need another place, you just have to stay where you are born.

You´re so right, god (whichever) bless you. but i have no family to speak of,, and of all negatives that may endure, i´m free ! I said, i´m 53, but that may be a game changer as well.

What is your current citizenship?  If it is US recall the requirement of paying taxes on worldwide income (or the "exit tax" if you renounce). As someone mentioned above, consider Puerto Rico due to the tax laws for gains for US citizens who are residents.  It also depends on what you consider "a small fortune" - double digit millions, single digit millions, hundreds of thousands. And if you intend to realize gains over time or in a single year or over a decade for example.

One option would be to realize the gains while a PR resident, then travel or move somewhere thereafter.

Here is a bit about it:

And why go somewhere? Do you feel bad where you live? And if it's bad, then think about what you dreamed about several years ago. And try to make this dream come true. I would buy a house near the warm sea

First, congratulations on your bitcoin profit.
You would need to decide the climate, environment, western or eastern etc... first. These are usually the main factors people look upon when thinking about relocating, since you already have money, it doesn't matter if the VISA allow you to work or not, so...
I would go with a european country like Sweden and Norway, or Canada who is positive for everything.

Definitely Serbia, for global standards here everything is very very cheap, but quality of everything is on a very high level. Beautiful country, nature, food, parties, lakes, rivers, many sources of healthy water, everyone who comes here enjoy! Check it out on internet! Month ago, couple from Germany bought a land and they building a nice house on a hill with a view on a city. Big yard, house with elevator and all in woof and stones will cost around 150 000 dollars.

Serbia?
Corruption , unemployment , poor infrastructure disastrous healthcare.
You're far better of with Croatia and Slovenia.

And Croatia is by far more attractive. The Dalmatian coast is pure beauty Serbia has little to show compared.

I am thinking of a lot great country to settle you forever stay and make lots of bitcoin with you but think in consideration on where to settle, even if I want you to settle in my country the Philippines just like Dabs have suggested, there is a really lot to think about that are more bitcoin friendly and I think you can surely take your peace in the USA or japan, I think that two is a good choice especially in japan even if bitcoin is recently accepted over there I think of a highly peaceful country would do for the both of you.
