At Dabs,

Please don't advertise how cheapstake it is here in the Philippines.
There's too much of this foreigners in here already who exploit this country.
And yes, the other poster is almost correct in his thinking that this country is like Thailand.

It's not cheap if you live in Forbes Park, or Ayala Alabang Village ($1m million dollar homes); or stay in any of the high end hotels. Like any other country, you have options.

It seems he has excluded the PH and prefers some other country.

However, I do recommend you try a 2 or 3 week vacation.

I'll go with the suggestion of Dabs. I myself am planning to buy my own house and lot here in the Philippines considering the cheap amount of real estate in here. $50k dollars would land you a 2 bedroom house near the metros, $400-$500k would get you a nice villa, 4 bedrooms, 2 storey house with a nice swimming pool. Plus, everything is cheap. $50 could feed 50 people 1 value meal in a fastfood chain.

Settling down and living your life would be best in a cheap country with world class tourist places. Philippines would be nice, the people are generally good and everyone will treat you special.

Oh and btw, if you want you can get a franchise of a famous fastfood chain in here for only $400k Wink

Ehm, no, thanks !

He said a small fortune... if he can spend 3 BTC per month he sure can go to a better country than Philippines which looks like a perfect place to get one of those exotic diseases... no thanks, I dont want to be constantly paranoid about killer mosquitoes.

Pretty sure there are better countries in Europe if you can afford to spend 6.440 USD a month (who the hell does that?)

Lol, Philippines is over, europe and africa as well. Australia (to expensive). But "Serbia" sounds interesting, is it EU ? Well, judging by his post its not the first financing the EU.

Stay away from Serbia (and it is in Europe too, just in case)

It is one of the most corrupted countries in that part of the world, so the locals will quickly strip you off of your money. You will have to bribe everyone who has any authority over virtually anything. Nobody will do anything for you without you first oiling hand. In fact, all Balkan countries are like that. It is your choice, after all, but if you are really serious about your peaceful and hasslefree future, Switzerland is likely the only rational choice (and maybe, New Zealand, though I'm not sure about those evil mosquitoes there). The only reason against it (apart from personal prejudices) could be purely financial one, it is an expensive country overall

Many people in this thread suggest Canada and I agree with them. Several friends of mine moved there and no one has complained so far. Apart from being a bitcoin friendly country, Canada is a friendly country in general. Of course I mean its southern part, you'll freeze to death in the North. Smiley

Philippines.

Get a beach house, or live in the city, or get a few acres of land ... Put a wall around it. Hire security or bodyguards.
When you have kids, hire a nanny for each. Send them to private schools.
Cash out in 2 or 3 major exchanges, or make it a daily routine to sell to locals.

But, don't do drugs.

A relatively large 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 or 3 car garage home, with a swimming pool, in a gated community will set you back about 10 to 20 million pesos, or 200k USD to 400k USD.

*edit* at 53, expect to live to maybe 83 ? so that's 30 years. You better have at least 1000 BTC (at today's prices) if you want to be comfortable without too much additional work. Get a token job for income tax purposes, but usually the government will leave you alone if you blend in.

That's 3 BTC per month for 30 years, more or less. Don't exceed that budget. You wouldn't unless you do something stupid. Just be smart about it. As a foreigner, you might spend more on local food (coconuts?) but just tip the waiters an extra 10~15% and you will get excellent service most of the time.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, i´m free to go wherever i want (she´ll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

Australia and japan have good tax regolation for BTC, Europan and Canada too are freindly witch BTC.
Australia and Japan is so expensive, if u want work here there is a lot of opportunity, if u don't want work i suggest europe becouse is very cheap in front of Japan or Australia... Italy Spain and Portugal can be good choice but in the country u need try the right place for u lifestile Holland, Germany and Crotia too are cheap but if u want live like a king u can think a place like Greek or Hungary. If u  prefer and Island u can think about Cyprus ( a bit exepensive then rest of europe but all talk english), Canaria Island is very cheap too, i think Malta too can be a good choice.

If it has to be a bitcoin friendly country, why dont you consider moving to Japan. I read all posts on first page and was surprised to see no one suggested Japan though i was expecting it to be the first suggetion. It has recently given bitcoin legal status and is a beautiful and peaceful country.

Japan is a developed country, if you want to live a good life, you can live there, however, Japan just accept bitcoin, they will need a lot of time to stabilize everything. I think that canada is the best place to live and use bitcoin, people have used bitcoin for a long time, even they use it in their daily life.
i also think that japan can be a better place to live if you already got some good amount of btc since they already accepted the system and they are now embracing  the change aside from its already a bitcoin friendly the place and the food will allow you to enjoy the community, its also a dream for me to live there if I will have that opportunity like yours OP i will proceed and bring my family there.

Definitely Serbia, for global standards here everything is very very cheap, but quality of everything is on a very high level. Beautiful country, nature, food, parties, lakes, rivers, many sources of healthy water, everyone who comes here enjoy! Check it out on internet! Month ago, couple from Germany bought a land and they building a nice house on a hill with a view on a city. Big yard, house with elevator and all in woof and stones will cost around 150 000 dollars.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

In all sincerity, at that age I don't want to be like you, because I would actually close to seeing my grand kids by that age. That being said, I would suggest Africa because cost of living is quite low but be careful to go with one where security is guaranteed and no one to start looking into your activities by the time they see you are a foreigner not going to work but just spending and living large which will mostly likely be beyond those around. Also, consider where your skill might be needed in other not to get bored staying at home all the time.

Yeah, thanks for the "african" angle, but i don´t like it there !

In Spain people with foreign money can have a good standard of live. The level of english is one of the worst of Europe, nobody older than you will know any word of English and young people will be able to speak some. You will not be able to pay anything directly with bitcóines, only there is la calle bitcoin in Madrid but there are some cajeros bitcoin (arround 7000) https://www.territoriobitcoin.com/mapa-de-cajeros-automaticos-de-bitcoin-en-espana/ . Considerate Catalonia

I'm also from Spain.

My advice: Run away of Spain as fast as you can. The same for Europe.
It's a tax hell, full of migrants. Catalonia is even worse, full of corrupt politicians (as the rest of Spain), a independentist government (inestability) marxist/socialist filling their beautiful country with islamic guettos.

I'll consider, Switzerland, Canada or New Zealand. Australia it's also a good place, but I don't like the climate.

Stay away of tropic regions of the planet if you want to be safe. Get a map and see the countries.

Thank you, you´re helpfull. Europe is about last on my list. They should get their shit together first !

this is all lovely, but as we all know you can't turn up where you like and live there forever. try doing that as a european in america or vice versa, let alone most of the other places in the world. it's totally discretionary whether most places let you in for a holiday.

what is OP's citizenship?

Well you can head to Japan, it's legal out there. It has rich heritage culture, plus it's a good tourist place if you can set up some business. Honestly you are a lucky guy, at the age of 53 a girlfriend, some of us are yet struggling to get their first lol and others are yet waiting for their first Bitcoins 😁. Well I feel Japan should suit all your needs, it's technology, it's adaptable to global technology so I feel you will do good there. Good luck with your future life and I am sure many will. Be jealous of your story.

Japan might be a good spot to live in, but if you don't know, 2 consecutive natural disasters happened in Japan, first is the tsunami that almost brought down Japan, and the second one which is the recent one is the earthquake that breaks many streets at Japan. Though I still recommend Japan, the people there are great and so damn kind, their services are good and they are used to foreigners visiting their country.

Canada is good. They welcome everyone, and if you really need to take a quick short trip you can probably go to the United States. You still need to apply for permanent residence if you intend to stay longer than 6 months.
Canada is the best. They legalized mostly every positive thing on this planet such as supporting weed, cannabis for both medical and entertainment. Bitcoin will be the next revolution in this country
Yes canada is one of the best country because of the positive things that you may find to their country and they almost positive for the every potential that you can propose to the government. I think it is possible for the bitcoin to be accepted or legalized in canada also or soon it will be accepted by mostly stores or any shop there.

I think so, Canada is a bitcoin friendly country. It is an ideal place for you and your partner to live happily, congratulations.
