Getting into trading requires some  knowledge. Trading cryptocurrencies is not just the art of buying and selling just like the convectional trading.
Cryptocurrencies and forex trading requires knowledge in both fundamental and technical analysis and there are a lot of avenues to learn it e.g youtube. forums and forexfactory. Knowledge of Japanese candlestick pattern and Price action is enough to know when to buy and when to sell.
Yes other than capital requirements for trading, one new trader must focus on gaining knowledge on trading skills before getting into this high risky yet profitable career. Trading will be good only when we are avoiding losses or at least keeping the losses at minimum levels. Otherwise long run in trading will not be possible.

Trading has some basic protocols on how to be started and how to be done for successful long run. When are breaching those basics, we cannot expect successful trading career.

Obviously, I need BTC to get in but it seems like everything is high right now.  Should I wait till BTC is < 2k? Or ETH < 200? I'd like to get in and start trading alt coins.  But for me to maximize my profits in USD I need to wait till BTC is at a reasonable cost.  Or do you guys see it climbing to 3k in the next couple of months?

Did you caught up when the price of bitcoin was at $2,100? If only able to buy a single bitcoin by that time then you surely got almost $300+ profit today. And with the pump again, it's better that you buy now because it's now bound to get up to $2,700 and will possibly back again to that price. But if you think your good at eth, go.

I can say that just wait for the effect of the event in august 1 for bitcoin because it might go dump if things will not be well done and just resulted for a mess. In ethereum i think it is just a bubble and just hype because of the latest good to go ICOs that promotes good promises to their investors so it also makes the price higher but soon we will see a very huge correction in the price of ethereum. Just be patient and wait for the right time to buy, keep observing.
For getting into trading, in my opinion we do not need to wait for any event to happen. Only the long-term investors should wait for some big events to happen, a trader does not need to wait for those things. We can start once we are getting ready with skills set to trade and we should respond to the news and events accordingly time to time. But these things will be will get into different approach for the case of investments.

Bitcoin loosing value below $2000 will really create a great avenue for people to buy at the cheaper rate and sell when the market value increases. But based on the recent development and the current bitcoin price it will be difficult for the value to move below  $2000. I believe is better to buy at the current market value now, than to wait  with the hope that it will fall below $2000 which will  never come.
Much better to buy than waiting below $2,000 price that i think its hardly touch that value we heard many news about segwit and BIP148 that i think bitcoin can improve much better that can push the value of bitcoin more in few weeks or months.
For ethereum i think better to wait for the price down if you are planning to buy ethereum the price right now is overvalued.

Yes it is also a good choice, but what if it turns out ico we follow ended scam? No bitcoin results we received from this bounty. But this is still a good choice in my opinion as well, collect bitcoin from bounty ico and start trading from the result.

Even you will wait for btc to get back at $2,000 you won't see it anymore. The correction is done already and the price is ready to fly to the moon. If I were you, just buy now and on how much you afford to lose. Many sees that the price is possible to get up to $3k so if I were you, don't wait for it to fly to $3k before buying.
I won't say it never, because something could be happen which cause bitcoin price crash such as a big exchange get hack.
But for now bitcoin still has steady increase and more likely to rise than fall down.
If you want to wait until bitcoin price decline, than it may take months. Better to buy small amount of bitcoin whenever a dip occurs,  and start trading.

If you will have an analysis base on the chart of bitcoin, many crashed had done and it rose again afterwards. And if ever there will be some sudden crash very soon, I know that it will make a pump again in the future. That's I believe with every single move of bitcoin today, we will see the dip but in return it will fly up to the moon.

no need to predict , no one can know the future may be bitcoin will go to 10,000 usd , may be not
buy low , sell high = as simple

Simple rules are the best, no need to use some advanced analysis techniques, formations or indicators. We have a bullish trend, no arguing with that, therefore every sell off should be used to buy. Period.

Yes, I agree that no one can predict 100% accurate results but still prediction based on scientific research gives us a direction of the possible trend movement and it helps in preparing the trading strategy. A recent news quoted that, some market research predicted that bitcoin will hit $100,000 within next 10 years and I agree that it may or may not happen but as we all know that it will move in upward direction in the coming future.

You should inititate trading altcoins if you want to take advantage of market more effectively as we can see that altcoins price are also increasing as bitcoin rises which is somehow inverse/different from what people are expecting.

BTC will climb higher probably during this year, it may be slow or fast.
Trading is risky,
make decision for your self and do research first.
Compare the fiat get in the crypto, if reasonable then it is okay that the price is likely to be higher.

I think you need to study how the market work as you cannot really make it in trading without adequate knowledge on fundamental and technical issues on the asset you are trading. Expecting bitcoin to fell to this in just a  short time may not happen as you could have taken that opportunity last week.
Fundamental and technical analysis knowledge are very important to achieve success in trading. But we do see people are thinking about making money from trading but none of them focusing on learning phase of trading. I guess a trader always must focus on improving knowledge so that we can withstand any type of market volatility/fluctuations.

Well, it is basically trading is the place to get a lot of advantages. So when we want to get it then it must have some sufficient knowledge in order to be able to get a lot of things that are fun, extremely dangerous Trading if we just play in the usual way only. you need to know, trading has a very high risk. So when you play with mediocre everything could end in defeat

It may be as simple as that but there are a lot of factors to consider to be able to make a successful "buy low sell high" trade. Status of altcoins, btc's price, the movements, its easy to say trading is as simple as buy low sell high but it takes a lot of effort to get the right timing to make profitable trades

Having bitcoin right now literally is very high so far, but if your gonna look forward about in the future that bitcoin will become 10,000$ you will never notice the value now is high instead its cheap. However, before end of this year it will really become 4000$ to 5000$.
