Before you go into the world of trading my suggestion to you is first study all the altcoins and how will you trade and also when will you trade. Work smart also for you to earn a lot of money but there is a high risk in the world of trading.

Depends a lot on how much time you have to trade or if you want to set long term sell/buy orders and keep discipline in letting the trades happen. If you want to stay online and watch every movement you must be prepared to take short term losses. Trading is easy, making profit is not!

Me? I just want to focus on simple earning.

Monitoring really eats up a lot of time when you got hooked with it.
I dont like doing that because I got some work to do.
A long term would really help so that I wont have to keep checking the price of one altcoin.
Maybe he could do that too if the time is too important for him.
An android application where they have alarms for a price that is set really helps.

Obviously, I need BTC to get in but it seems like everything is high right now.  Should I wait till BTC is < 2k? Or ETH < 200? I'd like to get in and start trading alt coins.  But for me to maximize my profits in USD I need to wait till BTC is at a reasonable cost.  Or do you guys see it climbing to 3k in the next couple of months?
Even you will wait for btc to get back at $2,000 you won't see it anymore. The correction is done already and the price is ready to fly to the moon. If I were you, just buy now and on how much you afford to lose. Many sees that the price is possible to get up to $3k so if I were you, don't wait for it to fly to $3k before buying.

I believe the best thing to do is to start buying now, a little at time.. if the price will go up, you will be happy that you bought now - if it will go down, you will keep buying more and so on (just don't invest all the cash you have, but a small portion every time you feel like it)

You're right! Buying now will be the best because we never know when will be the pump and dump of btc. When I trade altcoin I always use the averaging strategy (buying more when the price goes down) since I am not good in TA yet, and I can say it is very effective.

if there is any dump of the price, then i think its a good chance to buy bitcoin but if you are not sure, then you can waited for a moment and see how the trends going up or down. this is not just for bitcoin but its related with altcoin so when you want to buy, make sure you know in how much price you want to buy the coins.

Invest actively:

Trade passively:

I think you understand my angle.
My buying (investing) is consistent/short term, but my selling (trading) is inconsistent/long term. HODL.

Traders deal with that every day, what you have post now. You wish to buy 1 BTC or 1 ETH, and difference in price here is big. With 1 BTC you can buy 10 ETH, but what will bring higher profit in next few days or months, everyone would like to know answer on that question, that brings profit.
I think price of BTC will go even higher, ETH is climbing like crazy also, so maybe best is to split your money on half an buy both, you will make profit on one coin that is good, risk from losing money is not so big.

Invest actively and trade passively.
Does it mean we should focus on long term analysis so that we can get assure profits ? I need to agree with as my experience with cryptocurrencies has proved this many times. The key difference between trading and investing is time duration taken for profit booking. When we invest actively, we may need to wait for some longer period and with respect to bitcoin investments the more we wait, more the profits.

But active trading also will be profitable but we need to perform it with the support of strong technical analysis skills. Otherwise just focusing on investing would be a perfect decisions to prevent losses.

I've been trading crypto for a few years and had zero prior trading experience... I make more money when I keep it simple. I suggest staying far away from Poloniex and use Bitfinex instead. Bitfinex currently has 8 coins... and that's all you need to make money.

Every month, I predict which 4 coins will gain the most ground within that month... that means I stick to one coin per week. I know people say don't put all your eggs in one basket, but I'm looking to pull off only 2 trades per week that yield massive profit. Last month was my most successful month. On May 1st, I had $50,000 in crypto... today I have $250,000.

I invested everything into LTC. Segwit pumped, then I dumped everything into ETC. BTCC pumped, then I sank everything into XRP. XRP pumped, then I dumped everything into ZEC. Yes, i did miss the Morgan Stanley pump. Oh well. Couple days ago I sank everything into XMR before that pumped. Then, went back into ZEC last night at 3 in the morning and made about $30k off this mornings pump. Sold at 0.11 BTC.

Bought about 1,000 ZEC at 0.1 BTC couple hours ago and think I'll sleep on that.

Be smart, do hours of research every day, and trade like you got balls.

Invest actively and trade passively.

Trading is really hard. There is a high risk in the trading and it is very unpredictable. Before we enter in the trading we make sure that we study the progress of the trading we want to trade. I want also to enter the trading world but I'm not yet ready.
The same applies to me. I am that kind of person who panic sells everything in case of market crash so as to at least get back something instead of becoming a bag holder.
I am kind of working on my situation and want to start day trading and I kind of like arbitrage, it's like easy and free money, you just have to buy and sell at right time.

One way to learn all these is to start with cheaper coins like Bitbay or  Bytecoin which the price is just 0.00000125 BTC.
Read it that its better to trade with cheaper coin and high quantity. You will have about 5Million of bytecoin and you can seriously earn trading and accumulating more of it by simply dumping and buying back each time.

I too prefer buying low, because I too was new too trading. So now only way that I prefer is buying low and selling high. With altcoins the price pumping won't be happening often, so used to hold and sell even if the price increase happens to small margin.

Bitcoin is very high,... or too high for me
it raises too fast and people hunt for more. I dont think it is a good sign, I like the price rising but if it is too fast then it is scary.
Trust me, I have quite lots of btc,
but we have to maintain the price not only to raise it if someone wants to buy it.

I dont think anyone could predict the price,... if I could advise, chekc ICO and cheaper coins from your fiat directly (like coinbase to buy other coin - not btc).
starting into trade do not depend on the price of the bitcoin but when you start the trade then it depend on the price of bitcoin then you will look that where the price of bitcoin is going and how you will earn. I will say you start the trade to buy bitcoin.
indeed even btc value is too high if you really wanted to start trading you can still do it because what if the price won't went down and
continuously rising up? it will be much higher so better to start and keep your research and study to plan your own strategy or method
you have to set this in order to survive inside trading activities.

I think you need to study how the market work as you cannot really make it in trading without adequate knowledge on fundamental and technical issues on the asset you are trading. Expecting bitcoin to fell to this in just a  short time may not happen as you could have taken that opportunity last week.
Fundamental and technical analysis knowledge are very important to achieve success in trading. But we do see people are thinking about making money from trading but none of them focusing on learning phase of trading. I guess a trader always must focus on improving knowledge so that we can withstand any type of market volatility/fluctuations.

Yes, I am sure bitcoin is goining only to climb higher next months, someone even supposed the top point as 3500$ before bitcoin will start to drop back. I think you may wait for yours < 2000$ very long. You can start to trade with that amount of coins that you have now, yes, the profit is going to be not so big, but at least something. Good luck!

For me he can invest in ETH too together with BTC. Though btc is very promising, but it is quite expensive right now, but still it has room for improvement or to grow. Also, in the case of ETH, it is quite popular right now, it popularizes the Eth platform and more Tokens are being successful  being launch here.
