I think this idea is good for social experimentation, so all those who have chosen a regretful currency do not choose 1 Btc, maybe in this way everyone will ask what is Bitcoin, and why the price is so high compared to real currency.

I just watched a video on my social media about guys running a social experiment about Bitcoin in their country (USA), and they questioned strangers that they chose, this "Would you rather have 1 Bitcoin or 1 dollar?" and almost all of the people they questioned chose 1 dollar. Only 1 person in all the person they interviewed chose 1 bitcoin. This just proves that there still a lot of us who don't have a clue about digital currency. If I would do this in my country, I'm sure that no one will choose bitcoin over our local currency. What about in your country if you run this social experiment?
I really dont know which village you were in while conducting this experiment because I am.sure that there couldnt be only single person in your sample who answered 1 bitcoin. Atleast 4-5% of US population surely knows about bitcoin but if these stats are true then bitcoin still needs hell lot of development.

same here, i believe most people will say that they choose dollar or any other local currency rather than bitcoin its because most people are still not aware that bitcoin exists or what is bitcoin this is because bitcoin is lack of advertising or exposure to the public but if someone can advertise it on tv or radio and newspapers then i think more people will try it and will recognize it as another currency.

In my country the results will probably be the same. Many people have never heard of bitcoin and don't know how valuable it is and what they can do with it but they all have heard about dollaras althoug it's not the payment currency in my country and they appreciate it. Maybe we here on forum have the feeling that everybody knows about bitcoin but that it isn't so in real life and bitcoin is still limited to relatively small number of people. This have to be changed but it takes time.

I just did it a few days ago with my friend. I asked him, do you know bitcoin? he replied didn't know anything about it. Then I tell him that bitcoin prices now exceed the local currency. When I told him about the price via Internet, he was stunned.

This is not surprising, I think you could do the same experiment in pretty much any country and would come out with similar numbers, let's try this again in 5 years and it will be reversed, 90% of people will know exactly what bitcoin is.

How is it possible for this thread to get this long without anyone even asking for a link to the video?

I searched for it, because it sounds like a fun video, but no luck.

Does anyone have a link?

This is a nice experiment that you have done in your environment. As far as I know  a reasonable number of people are not aware of bitcoin and even those one that are aware are scared of losing becaues they do not understand the concept.

Bitcoin awareness is not yet spread and doing social experiment can prove that. If people know what is the equivalent of 1 btc in dollar they might get shock and choose it over 1 dollar.

Im living in a place where mostly are neighbors are from middle class and i had the chance to ask them if they heard about bitcoin, about only 5% are aware what it is and most of them are college students. Only few of people here knows it and we are from the city  what more in the places from rural area i bet no one knows it.

They absolutely don't have any idea about the great Bitcoin value, the only reason why they choose dollar.

Sorry but I haven't watch the video you mention, yes we can say they we're living in USA, where internet and communication media are available.

To make a valid assessment about Bitcoin popularity. They should consider about the places, status of the people, they way of living, how they updated about the news or technology, etc.

Just my humble opinion.

This is simply because the knowledge and potential of Bitcoin is know by very few people across the globe. People still love fiat currency over virtual currency and can't easily trust a system where no one is answerable or in other words which is decentralized. Due to these factor people still prefer centralized currency, once people will get to know about its benefits and profit rates they will definitely jump into Bitcoin.

USA is the country where most Bitcoiners reside. Around 45% of the Bitcoin community is from the US yet their people choose to take 1 dollar rather than 1 BTC. It shows how less Bitcoin is known to the people. According to a survey only 8% of the world population are knowing about Bitcoin and using it. If $7000 is the price of BTC when only 8% of people know it then how much do you predict the price will go when %75 of the world population knows about it. Grin

It's not relevant because he/she asked people who are not aware of Bitcoin. You can ask for anyone what he prefers between 1 dollar or XYZ, as he/she doesn't know XYZ he/she will choose a dollar, naturally...
If you tell to people what is Bitcoin and its value, nobody will prefer $1 instead of $7000.
Well, that is the point of their social experiment. They want to know if people are aware with the rise of digital currencies that will play a huge role in our financial system. They also did not explain it in the beginning of the interview because they want to know how people would react after hearing what bitcoin is worth nowadays.

It's a good experiment, certainly there are only few people who knew about bitcoin and if try that here in my country most of them would choose 1dollar since they still don't have knowledge about bitcoin. There are still a lot of people that doesn't know about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Using this experiment we can share others about bitcoin because some of the people that we will ask about this kind of experiment will be curious about it.

We can say that its a good experiment they tried. But its show that bitcoin in the country not yet so popular.  But if this social experiment, do it in my country they rather choose bitcoin because of its value is good, and best investment, people in my country interested on bitcoin. This experiment is great for people to know so that they are aware about bitcoin. And this experiment raise awareness to the people. This experiment may help other people curios and idea about bitcoin.
