It's always about the hype. That's what moves Solana all the way to the moon. Why do you think it rose to the triple digits lately? That's because the sale of the Saga phone and the BONk airdrop had a positive impact on SOL's market price. I can't imagine the Jupiter airdrop will "pump" Solana to new heights.
Ultimately, what matters is usability. Not the price. If Solana is able to provide real use cases to the world, then it will have a high chance of surviving for generations. Otherwise, not. I'm yet to see if it will be able to directly compete with ETH in the future. That's assuming the SOL blockchain doesn't experience another outage. Crypto land often behaves in many strange and bizarre ways, so we should expect the unexpected.
