Keeping track of all different alt coin wallets was annoying Angry And I don't trust exchanges.

I'm ready for liftoff.

Are you?

(of course I had never more than ~5% in alts)

and that's a good thing, too much altcoins will confuse you and maybe you'll do even dumb mistakes, you should leave 2-3 alts like etherium and litecoin and have some of them and rest in bitcoin, nothing is so good as bitcoin anyway, easier to predict price of it too

What about eterium? The price is rising nowadays.

I think it was better to buy Ethereum a few months ago. The price has risen 3 times since 3 months ago. That is quite a big pump.

Huh,

As it turns out, at this point in time, I just about broke even on my altcoin misadventure, mostly thanks to cashing out back to BTC and then BTC's recent little rise the last few months.

If I'd stayed in the alts, I'd probably be down 50%.

DarkCoin/Dash was by far the best performing, if I'd only bought that alt and hodled it I would of made a nice bit of money. I guess I bought in early there. But literally every other alt I bought went down substantially if I recall and offset that gain. Hindsight is everything.

Still think Bitcoin will remain king in the long term due to network effect, security, maturity, simplicity, etc... Play with altcoins but hodl Bitcoins.

I may buy a little ZeroCash/z.cash when that comes out. But so will everybody else so I'll probably lose money there.

In summary: coins go up coins go down enjoy the ride.

yup, still ready for lift off  Cheesy Cheesy consumed a lot of popcorn in the meantime.

I have some doge just to play with... I know doge has no limit to the supply so no point hodling the coins.

Bitcoin is still the main "cryptocoin" that I keep.

No altcoin project that worth a damn will be out there for anybody to get a hold of it. This only worked for Bitcoin, the rest are all clones of it more or less with some improvements and changes of course but they won't ever take off. If a huge company needs to implement a crypto currency or system, do you think they will adopt an altcoin? They won't even touch Bitcoin, they would just use the blockchain or underlaying technology.

Altcoins creators are just building their resume and learning (the rest are downright scamming people). So my advise is to stay away from the altcoin community, it's all marketing and pump&dumps. Sooner or later you will be just holding a bag of nothing.

i dont even buy anything else than bitcoins because in my opinion its the only currency that will never fail and that will outperform all the currencies that are out there right now

You are so right. Altcoins are just copy cats of bitcoin. As long as they have not proven themself they should be treated like that.
I therefore don't rely on altcoins for investments.

bitcoin's a gamble, alts are a super gamble. If I had any, and I don't ever plan to have any, I'd hang on to a few if I didn't care about the money invested. They might explode for no good reason.

If you see that every time btc jumps, alts went down.
Time best for buying alts, after few days you can sell those alts again with small profit!

Buying altcoins for bitcoins is not always a good thing as many altcoins have just vanished and people were not even getting a buyer to sell those coins. Now those users are back to bitcoins and are crying over their losses.
I don't believe in any altcoins for that reason, may it be even dash or etherium.

Note that when the original post was written, bitcoin was higher than it is at present, and by a significant amount too.  We didn't exactly lift off to anywhere.  I would agree that selling your shitcoins was a good move though.  There are way too many of them and they're all garbage.

i dont have any alt cryptocurrencies too i sold it all a few months back and went all in in bitcoins i hope that the price of it will start growing at a very fast pace, lets hope one day i will be rich

You want to become rich at some point in the future and you have set the first step in the right direction by converting your altcoins to Bitcoin. Holding Bitcoin for the long term might make you rich if you have enough coins. Holding altcoins for the long term will make your coins go worthless and you'll end up having nothing. I wish more people were doing the same as you.

Alts are just another way to get more bitcoin. In the end they are just addons for bitcoin. I for one would bet on btc first then on alts.
Since alts are replacable, bitcoin isn't
