Altcoins are interesting to store value. Specially good POS ones.

Not when a alt exchange closes down on you lol.

Esp after the whole cryptsy incident it just should verify your reasons to invest in one coin.

Most of the alts only get traded to increase traders stash in BTC.
Or they do it make some fiat profits. There is almost no other use case.

But that's a zero-sum game. Someone's gotta lose when someone wins.

Well with alts it is most of the time the pumpers and dumpers winning. I am glad i am not very active in the altcoins.
Since it seems everytime i buy the wrong coin and/or sell too late.

Selling all alts and investing in bitcoin seems to be a good plan. Now at present alts has got high price which gives good profit.
I also did not want to invest into alt coins. Because, they are simply relaying on bitcoin prices. After seeing the collapse of litecoin prices no one will be interested in investing into alt coins for sure.
You people are must be wrong, investing into a single investment option must be taking more risk in my view. The recent pump of dogecoins and eatherium are some good example of altcoin investments. You must diversify your investments.

I think you should have bought Ethereum with bitcoin a few months ago. Then your wealth would have risen 20 times.

That would have been luck. Eth is inherently valueless (just like Doge and XRP) so buying them is foolish.

I think that altcoins are ok once you somewhat get a hang of them. For example I have got to know NETcoin quite well. Price almost always keep being the same regardless of BTC ups and downs, so storing them is kinda like storing BTC with an interest.

Exactly said, because all the alts are running by following the technology of bitcoin. Bitcoin is the leader so its better to accept the leader directly than accepting the followers.

Keeping track of all different alt coin wallets was annoying Angry And I don't trust exchanges.

I'm ready for liftoff.

Are you?

(of course I had never more than ~5% in alts)

even if you want to have bitcoin only, you should keep eye on etherium and litecoin, they might rise to top really fast someday, so it's nice no have some of them, and you did good thing because bitcoin is best crypto of all, easier to predict price too

So many people spouting ignorance as facts. Bitcoin is just as speculative as some of the other cryptocurrencies out there. Btc is NOT a sure thing; in fact, it will most likely never rise beyond 800 in our life time.

I've made more money buying and selling altcoins like DBG and Diamond than Btc in the last 9 months. Much more money. If you're going to speculate with cryptocurrency, go big or go home. I have tens of millions of DBG and tens of thousands of Diamonds. With Diamonds, I just let it mint in wallet and sell the minted coins and make $400 a month, the principal amount stays the same, basically free money. There's better ways to make profit than with only bitcoins. Stupid is as stupid does.

we have all made a lot of money from trading altcoins, but that's just it. as you said it yourself we are just making money from buying then selling those coins but at the end of the day we are all back to bitcoin because it is more reliable and useful.

Right now I think Ether has a good bit of credibility to it, but certainly not buying in at what could be the top of a huge pump.  Besides that I don't really like alts with the only exceptions being ones that actually being a useful new feature to the table.  They're great for speculation and trading, not so much for long term stores of value.

I have a number of alts and it crossed my mind a good couple of times to sell most of them.
However, XMR, DOGE and HVC I like too much to sell, even if that may make me lose money....

I have zero alts.
I figured out that I don't have the knowhow to predict which alts are gonna rocket. It is as good as gambling for me, and there are easier ways to gamble.  Smiley

Actually bought a few alts again :/

Mostly for a fun gamble, though the current BTC climate is a little worrying...

Although i am quite active in the altcoin market i understand why you would leave it all together.
The alts, at least many alts, are run by scam developers which just want to pump and dump a coin.
There's no innovation etc.
