I hope bitcoin crashes for a short period so I will be able to sell my alts for a lot of bitcoin. And then let bitcoin price recover. Grin
Define crash... Some might feel that is what has happened.

Some would call it a crash when it dropped from $665 to $465. Mikerbiker6 probably means a drop from $465 to $265 or less when he says a crash.

If Bitcoin crashes, it crashes in regards to FIAT. Basically all altcoins are very tightly coupled to Bitcoin in regards of FIAT-value. Therefore the altcoins denominated in BTC need to go up. Bitcoin crashing won't do you any good!

Keeping track of all different alt coin wallets was annoying Angry And I don't trust exchanges.

I'm ready for liftoff.

Are you?

(of course I had never more than ~5% in alts)

That was a wise move of you! Good thing you were only invested 5% in altcoins, some people lost half their net worth or more because they though some canine coin could do the trick!

I sold all of my alt coins to bitcoin right after the big boom..(thats what I call it)... I question if it was the right move, it sure was better than cashing out, that is for sure.. I think some alt coins will have their place while bitcoin is leading the field by quite a bit. Good move to consolidate them to bitcoin..

I think this is a good way to go.  Most of my holdings are bitcoin.  Alts can be fun but so many of them just flash and then burn out.  Even if a coin may be a survivor, like doge or litecoin, that still does not mean it will be worth a lot in terms of bitcoin.  By all means trade alts and play around with them, but I would not hold them for the long term unless one is developed that really solves a problem bitcoin has.

One of the best thing to do is to get most of your investment in btc and daily some alts that have good volume. That way you can increase the amount of btc you hold and if you find a good alts, you can get some.

Good decision! Bitcoin will rise up, like a phoenix from the ashes of all the scams and failed crooked exchanges and services out there!

I recently took a review of my own alt. coin holdings / crypto-currency portfolio.

Here is a list of the more innovative crypto-currency projects and/or digital assets that I personal think stand the best chance of continued recognition and/or long-term adoption / usage by the masses as currency (in some form or another). There are a few others, although these are the ones that I feel matter the most, currently. This is not investment advice... and no I don't personally hold large amounts of all of these alt. coins.

BBR - Boolberry - http://boolberry.com/
BTSX - BitSharesX - http://bitshares-x.info/
CGB - CryptogenicBullion - http://cgb.holdings/
CURE - Curecoin http://curecoin.net/ (EDIT: and Gridcoin)
DRK - Darkcoin - http://www.darkcoin.io/
LTC - Litecoin - https://litecoin.org/
MINT - Mintcoin - http://mintcoin.cc/
MYR - Myriad - http://myriadplatform.org/
NMC - Namecoin - http://namecoin.info/
PPC - Peercoin - http://www.peercoin.net/
XPM - Primecoin - http://primecoin.io/
XST - Stealthcoin - https://www.stealth-coin.com/

Being from the UK - if the launch of Sterlingcoin goes well on the 20th of this month, then that could well be a digital asset to watch.

its quite stupid to go in bitcoin right now as we prepare for another big crash
order books are moving, pressure is building to drop to 400 quickly

The only stupid thing to do right now is to not put your disposable income into BTC.

Exactly. Even if there is a crash to 400 (which is hardly a certainty) then this will be negligible compared with the exponential rise afterwards.

I gotta say, I'm not entirely sure where we're going now. We may go up dramatically, at least back to $1000 or $1500... But if people decide that Bitcoin just isn't their thing, we will go further down, and maybe even to painful levels! In that case it may be the best thing to hedge and wait until we get back to $700 and are in a definite bull-market

Ha, then you didn't lose that much of your total portfolio Wink Smart move. We might have been in for a 3000% Litecoin increase after all, who knows Wink But I think it really is most wise to just keep your crypto-speculation in the Bitcoin world!

I have only one alt at the moment because I think it's the best investment of 2015.
