i am a sports fan before i am a gambler i watch sports and i bet on my predictions to amplify the entertainment and enjoyment i get from that sports i could not bet while watching a sport but it is always much more fun to look forward to the results knowing especially that you might win in the end so if your favorite team wins you are happy as a fan but you can be happier if you also win some money from betting on them

this leads me to thinking whether do people bet on sports they do not enjoy or are not a fan of? maybe there are people out there who are just really in for the money and they would bet on sports that are popular and they have a bigger chance on winning at even if they do not particularly enjoy them

personally i can't imagine having to sit and watch and analyze countless of matches of a sport i do not enjoy watching just to bet on them

what about you?
Like many have said already, some gamblers gambles for the money and those are the ones who might want to analyze too many sports and place bets on them without even having them as their favorite. Everyone loves soccer and loves betting on soccer but I'm not a fan of basketball I still bet on it. I only enjoy when I make wins that the fun part but making loss bring regret that when I realize they I should only bet on sports I enjoy. Though every gambler have their own preference for different sports.

But you at least watch the commentaries and summaries. Basketball is so popular that I feel that it is next to football and if you are betting on it, you should have some likeness for the star players like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and some others who are popular.
As much as I don't fan basketball, I still have some teams and players that I voted for in the 2024 NBA rankings, and the top on my list of best players are Minnesota Timberwolves, Kelvin Durant and some others, but my vote was strongly for the two mentioned player's, on few abd as for games commentary I follow up a lot to feed my information that I need to make my analysis, just that I don't watch the game the way I watch football because I enjoy football More compared to basketball.

Only for the teams I like that I wait for even when I should be sleeping. In general, football is the sport I like the most and I have a good knowledge of myself when I bet on it.
I bet on the teams I like if I think my favorite team has a good chance of winning. I know that every team that I like as a fan doesn't have to bet on them to win. If the odds are in my favor I would bet on another outcome, I would not miss it while enjoying the game.

If your approach on bet is somewhat related to your habits or what you like probably you're not doing well.
this can lead to bet on sympthy and not based on real events. Personally I don't like some sports/players but they help me with "making money".
Even if you don't enjoy it, treat your gambling activity like a real job. You are here for earning purpose. Otherwise treat your gambling activity as any other hobby...
Try to follow items that you like and no more.

I can bet on a sport that I'm not familiar with but I can't bet on a sport that I don't like. People who gamble for fun don't need to bet on sports that they don't like or have interest in, there won't be any entertainment in it. One of the fun of sports bet is knowing the current forms of teams and their players to be able to make reasonable analysis. Maybe it's professional gamblers that can bet on different types of sports whether they like them or not. With a sport like football I don't need to know much about every country's league, I can get information about a league and make my bets. But for sports that doesn't interest me I wouldn't be motivated to follow their news.

When you are doing it for the money then you can, the most important thing for a gambler is to win so if he has the assurance of winning the bet he will risk it, and mind you, you can bet on a game you don't watch and is not a must to follow up with the games if you don't enjoy the game. For example, I bet on basketball despite the fact that I don't watch it, all that I need is information about the team and players.
What are the chances of you finding an unbiased and complete detailed analysis of a team or an athlete from the internet? Surely you won’t get it from fans who have their own favorites. Some media outlets also are sometimes biased or maybe just lack the whole picture of the match when reporting.

You need to know how a team or an athlete plays so you know how will they fare with a specific opponent or in a specific match. Details like this would be found if you watch the matches. Because there might be some talents that are going unnoticed because only the popular ones are reported by big media outlets that you may miss.

This question is similar to analyzing football matches in unpopular leagues that you do not watch just because you heard that if you bet on those leagues, your chances of winning is high. Some people do it and they don't mind. They bet for the profit and not for entertainment purpose.

For example, I bet on basketball despite the fact that I don't watch it, all that I need is information about the team and players.

Football sports - others are never bet on because they are not favorites while in sports betting even non-favorite teams are bet on such as minor league matches to make a profit.

So football betting will always be enjoyed even though sometimes upset is always there where the team that is bet on loses, but this is what I can do not only the favorite team of the minor league team sometimes I look for opportunities there.

Yes people do bets on  matches they do not enjoy - for example I have bet on hockey and cricket so many times despite not knowing any shit about the game and I have managed to win several of my bets there.

Whenever I want to run a parlay and I want to make a very long lists of bets I usually just pick random games both from sports like football, basketball and some other ones that I have never watched before but do know how they work; those type of parlay I usually stake the lowest amount allowed by the casino and just watch the ticket run and if at some point I’m satisfied with the cashout option I’m being offered I’ll end the game there.

That's a stupid act, if I did that I wouldn't gamble or make bets on sports that I don't like and for sports that I don't enjoy, we're not talking about favorite clubs, we're talking about a sport we don't like, so it's no use putting a needle in the sand, if we're looking for a prick ourselves.

Sports gambling requires some information before placing a bet, it is not the same as playing slots, so gamble on sports betting that we like to get enjoyment and good results.

I hate watching a club match that I do not fan sometimes I may have bet on them because of the analysis of their preview matches of the past, and at that, I may not enjoy watching them play but I still bet on such a club, so when I get bored watching such a team play I switch to another match or program until the total time play out.

So in essence, there is no need to watch those games and all that you will need is the luck and analysis of the clubs or teams you bet on.

Most of us will bet on sports we like to watch and enjoy the sport whoever wins. I do not like soccer but I always like good successful goal. I see those athletes hug each other as they celebrate achieving one point. Somehow betting on the favorite team makes sense to me but it's the Cricket sport that I have no patience in watching.

There are lots of people loving Cricket Sport, I don't mind how they like the game but it's none of my business. If they spend all their money wagering who wins a match, they must love gbetting and the sport.

I don't? That's just dumb. Analyzing itself is already tedious at times, forcing yourself to do it on a sport you don't like (and probably don't even know jack about) just sounds dumb. Granted if I, for some particular, weird reason, kept winning on just guessing, I guess I still would. No analysis, none of that knowing stuff, just randomly guessing. If that's what's going to happen hell yeah I'm going to bet about it, even if it was ants racing each other.

And I don't think popularity equates to bigger chances of winning. I reckon you can argue that the more unknown the sport, the more unknown the player, hence the higher chances of new teams winning but that doesn't really equate to you having higher chances of winning.

Is there such thing that popular sports gives better odds?

If someone bets on sports they have no idea of, it's unlikely that they would sit and analyze matches either.

I don't bet on sports I don't have idea of and as matter of fact, I only watch cricket, and it has matches going on all the time.

During the last world cup someone here raised this type of topic. It was something that was on the minds of most people who are sports lovers and love to bet. There is this short clip from a South-African who when he was interviewed said he bet against his country (I think this was during the Nations cup, I am not too sure now). Being a fan of a club is about emotions betting is about logic. If you mix up the both of them, you'll lose money.
If I am not mistakenly I came across that same post as well but can find the topic anymore. Look, we are the people mixing up everything and make gambling looks so hard or difficult to our understanding and the we take it lightly the more we understand gambling the more. For instance if we remove emotions and gamble based on a solid state there will be no much lost but if we gambles giving much priorities to our clubs then we are creating an easy part of falling so quickly while doing sports betting.

Being popular does not increase the chances of winning

You need to have an interest in a sport to be able to proper research on them. Checking odds and form helps, but understanding how they play after watching their recent games, how their opponent plays, history behind that fixture and other factors helps you interpret the stats and data available.

I watch basketball most of the time, preferably in the NBA. I do enjoy watching the game more when I have money on the line and yes, even if I am not a fan of that team, as long as I made a bet for them then I will cheer for them or call them stupid when they make foolish mistakes that would ruin my bet especially if it's a parlay. Cheesy
That is the spice that gambling can bring for me and I do watch 2-3 games per day (if available) because I enjoy the sport more than being a fan of just one team. I have been a basketball fan since I was a kid so I don't think the enjoyment part will vanish but I just like to upgrade it by putting a bet on the team that I think will win.

The answer is yes. There are many people that bet on sports they do not enjoy, but just to take the risk and make the money. Most times these games are games predicted by a friend who is a fan of that game, they will ask their friend to send their booking code and such game will be reprinted and they might win along with their friends .

Actually I am not a regular watcher of sports and I bet on most games I am not familiar with. Sometime I pick those games as my instincts tell me to and I win some times and lose most times.

I only make my small bets on sports that I like or follow, I don't see any point in betting on something that I don't like, playing just for the sake of playing there are much better options, because betting on something that you don't follow becomes just a "spin of the roulette"... so it's better to go to the casino actually, right?
