At this stage I was expecting the so called favourites to be more serious with getting results after several upsets... and today we saw Tunisia face the game with a laissez-faire attitude which they were made to pay for with a loss at the hands of an awesome Namibian performance...

Now watching the Mali game and it's already looking like a boredraw thanks to a missed penalty that should have changed the outcome of this game...

Edit:

Is that a penalty???

Burkina Faso win it at the death. Not much goals in this match but i have to admit it was a good watch, better than most of the other matches.
The debates will rage on if that was a pen or not.

and going forward am not playing the favourite card as the draw seems to be unpopular and high rewarding, but going for the draw at this point looking like the best option going forward looking at how results have being coming...
ssshhsh... Do not spill the tip.

Burkina Faso nil, Mauritania nil, I smell something in 2nd half.
Sixth sense I guess, and Burkina Faso after being outplayed stole the game with maximum 3 points thanks to late penalty  Cool

Just paid for woodie and Chi20. Tx id: 31abb0f1191f995f50fbdb3835fcb92edf66e8caf8023f1d559887de094413ad
Missed this announcement, thanks for the buyin Smiley

Finally we getting winners in this tournament after several unforseen 1-1 draws of which I haven't caught any yet  Roll Eyes and going forward am not playing the favourite card as the draw seems to be unpopular and high rewarding, but going for the draw at this point looking like the best option going forward looking at how results have being coming...

Trofo is the biggest smile I would say, he took 2 exact scores, a lot of us totally got stunned by Cape Verde, supposedly one of the weakest teams in Africa according to Igebotz I remember hehe.
Whenever Igebotz says something I like to triple check that  Grin

Don't allow the shocker against Ghana fool you into thinking Cape Verde is a top footballing country;

Cape Verde debuted correct but also impressed in qualifiers the last AFCON according to news, so not a weak footballing country but not top either. I still think they were the weaker team in this meet but I was very sure not bottom of the pile.

Ghana gave birth to best footballer before, how far they are now, but Osimhen shouldn't take responsibility for everything just like Salah shouldn't.

Cape Verde aren't no weak team. Infact,  they play better football than most of the supposed favourites.  Like Egypt and Co. Remember Cape Verde borders with Portugal and some of their players are of Portuguese desert.

I knew about the borders, but I had no idea it was that close to Portugal. I mean, we share border with more than 2 countries but have almost no relation with 1 or 2, except very close to border, but they tend to stay there and not really mix into the general pop. Or at least, they wouldn't be recognizable. I guess Portugal was a former colonist of Cape Verde? Makes sense like in South America.

P.S. Guess Salah wants to come back to Liverpool early, huh? Endo not so much =D

Then he should have missed that penalty, eh?

Might go with a bit more risk in the next rounds, but I don't really follow these teams so it's hard to go against the bookies.

He doesn't have to do it SO obviously haha. Crazy he needs 2 goal involvements to earn a point for his shoddy team. Problem wth bookie odds is that I actually bet on qualifiers (both AFC and AFCON) and the odds are usually right. I think group games tend to be too careful, and then panic happens when a goal's allowed (as with Egypt).

The next rounds may be better for those watching the tournament. They have gotten to see all the teams play and get a glimpse of the strength and weakness of the different teams.

Form hardly changes during tournaments.

Not the best of starts for me, but AFCON is the one I'm always shitty at. I mostly pick the favorites and they often disappoint - which was the case again.

Whenever Igebotz says something I like to triple check that  Grin This time I just looked at past games. Cape Verde not loosing a competitive game for a long time, I think 12 games and then Nigeria loosing points to all kinds of teams, like Lesoto. Only game that Nigeria won with more than a goal difference recently came against São Tomé and Príncipe. Had to google them to find exactly where they are and by the way they have about 150k people in total so definitely not a big footballing nation  Grin

Don't allow the shocker against Ghana fool you into thinking Cape Verde is a top footballing country; I can easily claim a team that debuted in the 2013 AFCON is a weak team and be right. A country with no football tradition.  BTW, Ghana and Nigeria are both overrated shitholes in West Africa. Osimhem should have done better.

Too many draws this round. Missed up real bad.

You're too kind. But I get it, the date was close and network wasn't friendly. I'm always happy to help out in future with fronting people too, in case you stragglers don't want to overburden the Tro Wink
I know you are always ready to help and even though about switching a few to you but it would just complicate things. This way I am hoping I will be able to keep track of everything.

Preliminary rewards, could be changes since the pool is still open. Not gonna add into the OP until it is final.
We should have at least 68 mBTC (50 mBTC sponsorship + 18 buy ins) and roughly 220$ (5 buy ins) in the pool by the time Round one is over.
1. Place - 30 mBTC
2. Place - 15 mBTC
3. Place - 10 mBTC
4. Place -  8 mBTC
5. Place -  4 mBTC

Best overall yellow cap - whole $ fund, so around 220$

That comes to 67 mBTC and we have 1 mBTC for tx fees. If something is left or missing it will be added or taken from 1.place. Least impact on reward. I will pay generous tx fee for confirmation inside 5 blocks or so as always.

Nigeria should get an easy win against Equatorial Guinea today, I'm quite certain, and I've backing the ~1.50 Odds ML here, the group stage should be an easy path for the Super Eagles, I have absolutely no doubt on that, my concern was about heading the deep into the competition and possibly triumphing all the way, easier said than done right ?

Wasn't easy as you expected but the comeback was super fast by Osimhen, he did justice to that equalized goal that was scored by Equatorial Guinea under a minutes and that was how Super Eagles were save from that shameful defenders. I think we lack defenders, even though we lack good midfielders, the back defenders are weak but I'm satisfied with the striking position, I just hope he doesn't get any injury as we continue else we are doom.Grin Grin

We have two games left for the group stage and what we need now is one win and 1 draw or win the two and get qualified for the next stage. How we are going to deliver that between Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau but I'm confidence that Nigeria will give Guinea Bissau a straight win and either win or draw with Ivory coast because I was impress by their first round but Nigeria can do more on them by the time they meet.
The super Eagles lack everything as it stands now in this Afcon. They are just same, old pattern of play and mentality in totality.
I placed a bet on the winning straight up, only to see them trying to equalize a lone goal.
I don't pray anything like injury happens to Osimhen because it would be of ripple effect to Napoli and the super Eagles chances of qualifying out of the group stages.

L. Camara was the star in Senegal's encounter against Gambia. Sadio mane was also of good performance and even made an assist. With this result today, am certain that Senegal may make it to the finals.
Well, we await the results of other group matches to know who might make it the finals.

For me it looks strange that Cape Verde is understimated so much. Yeah, they're not powerhouse, they don't have stars, but it's good level mediacore team, definitely not one of weakest in Africa.
BTW, surprised to see Bebe in their squad, one of worst signings of MU in SAF era. Always thought that he is from Portugal.

At his point, I just need to look forward to round 2 and hope it turns out better than this round. I expected Cameroon to draw today, they have not been in very good form, but yet I hesitated to take the chance.

Hopefully the next round goes according to the expected plan.

So. Very. Tempting. To switch my picks to draws. I did it for Cameroon, following Trofo's wisdom and got rewarded for that. The question for me remains about just how good are the favourites, really. Impossible to tell and bookmaker odds to me are extremely unreliable for these cups.

P.S. Guess Salah wants to come back to Liverpool early, huh? Endo not so much =D

Waited until I got enough BTC on Sportsbet account to avoid fees Smiley Feels like I am sponsoring half of the pool. I think I paid for over 10 people here. Everything was handled either to Livecasino campaign or future BSFL rewards or side bets but still I had to make those transactions and put the money upfront in BSFL cases Grin

Still waiting for some payments and maybe one or two stragglers. Sponsorship money should come these days as well. Plan is too officially close the pool with end of GW1 and then advise rewards in details. Good luck guys.

Im not seeing a single game of this cup, im playing full blind, i let all in hands of the luck and in hands of the previous knowledge i can have.

I'm in the same situation with you. I'm making predictions by only looking at the odds. Let's see where this strategy will take me. Sometimes not having any knowledge about teams can give better results. Egypt saved the draw in the last minute yesterday. Let's see if Liverpool will be able to have Salah back faster.

AFCON teams are complete opposite, everyone respect every one too much so few goals scored.

Do you expect the same low performance as in the World Cup qualifiers? The most popular score is 1-0, 0-0, 0-1? Tomorrow we need to make a forecast for the poll, and I haven’t decided how to forecast yet  Grin There are many teams of completely different levels in the groups, so I still expect better perfomanc, but in games of teams of equal strength, we should probably make the choice 0-0, not 1-1 if we assume that there will be a draw.

I guess I got it wrong. Over 2.5 average goals per game so far but to be fair, 5 of that happened in first 5 or last 5 minutes so lack of concentration really makes it a weird phenomenon.

Trofo is the biggest smile I would say, he took 2 exact scores, a lot of us totally got stunned by Cape Verde, supposedly one of the weakest teams in Africa according to Igebotz I remember hehe.

Of course we try change picks and opposite will happen Wink
