I get it they are in the American league championship but the giants seem like such a better buy right now.  They need one more game against the dodgers I get it but if they get through they are the odds on favorite by far they have to be with the year they had.  Especially having to go through the dodgers so many times, which are definately 1a.

What did you mean by "they" in the American league championship? (Serious, am asking in case I'm missing out on a reference or summat).

So, Astros ran riot and now get to meet Red Sox -- early odds are 2.35 on BoSox to win this 7-game series. Hoping for a quick start again, although they've got the most comeback wins this season.

But now they need to win the monumental winner-takes-all with both teams registering 100 wins. Gotta say well done Dodgers for getting the series to a tight 2-2 near the finish line. Can't write off the defending champs, I guess.

They I meant the Sox.  At the time of the post the Sox were in and was a reference to the post before how their odds were lowered to around where the giants and dodgers odds were.  Was saying I'd rather have dough on the giants even know they didn't make their championship series yet (at the time up 2-1).  Now with the series tied up I'd probably take the Sox with their odds versus the giants and their odds.

That giamts and dodgers game 5 is a must see game.  No betting just enjoying that one:)

And we're through! Fenway magic, all that pent-up Covid quiet released. Singles all won, Playoff Series winner bet won, and my outright's still alive. Weird feeling to get in a lot of wins from my maiden betting season here. Beginner's luck?

And BoSox move up to third fav to win World Series:

@ChiBitCTy tough luck on the Dodgers game! Wind literally snatched the draw away at the death by preventing the home run. Silver lining is it's 35/10 for them to win the series Wink

I started an MLB thread but couldn’t seem to get much traction with it which I guess goes to show how unpopular baseball is worldwide and how other sports such as football are becoming even more popular worldwide while baseball falls to the wayside. That said, looking forward to the elimination game between Boston and New York, doesn’t get much better than that. Also as a Cubs fan I’ll be rooting for anyone facing the Cardinals..hopefully they won’t last long lol

I agree.

Cardinals is always at the top but Yankees is the reigning king in baseball for years already. I'm a fan of Shohei Ohtani so I'll be rooting for Angels to be on the top in the American league baseball. I'm just a newbie fan in baseball, like maybe 9 months since I've watched Ace no Diamond anime, I've also became a baseball fan.

Right now, RAYS is at the top in the American League while BREWERS is at the top in the national league.

The angles are out and so is the rays.  Brewers are one game from elimination so you are running out of teams lol.  As a yankee fan they *were* the kings of baseball but they have lost their shone over the last 20 years.  Other tes have significantly caught up to them.

Walk-off home run (still not sure what it means), 13th inning run(!) and BoSox find themselves in control of the series. Seems like some magic bounce on the Fenway grass made it for them. Good win on my single, and one more now to get my series win at 25/10, nice!

Got to root for The Sox haven’t we dude, for a double reason Wink
I see their fans are quite frustrated by the lack of spending power by FSG too, seems to be a familiar theme. Either way it shouldn’t stop them tonight.

Go Red Sox!

Indeed! I'm not quite right there behind FSG, knowing that they signed on to the Super League too (but they did seem way more contrite and honest in their apology), and they're a thousand shades more genuine than Gilett/Hicks (but anything compared to these two are multiple times better)... but I actually do like that we've not gone the "throw money and see if it works" routes of the Chelseas, Cities, PSGs... and who knows now, Newcastle haha.

And at least at Liverpool they have been practical and not completely blind to the market (VVD buy proves that) -- would love to see the same pragmatism at Red Sox.

1 more win to go =D

So the series are tied for both Sox and Dodgers, eh ChiBitCTy? Both lost the opener badly, but then both did really well to earn a tie yesterday, and Fenway Park awaits Rays tonight (or early morning tomorrow for me). Got my money on Sox, I'd love to see them settle this early again and complete the sweep on Game 4. Just hope they still take their time to peak post-season now. Don't want a burnout!

Well I got my wish last night and saw the Dodgers take out the St Louis Cardinals on a walk off in the 9th..it doesn't get much better than that for a Cubs fan  Cheesy  Maybe it's being a bit mean, but I've had to endure what feels like a lifetime of the St Louis Cardinals ALWAYS being good.  I do have to give it to them, they came out of no where to end up vying for the playoffs.

Haha, good for you buddy. Hey, bragging rights aren’t guaranteed so make sure you give it to all Cardinals fans you know whilst you can Cheesy

Go Cubs!

Yeah they pounced on Cole early.  That 52x er is definately a nice play.  They pretty much are facing one of the best now in the rays.  If they get by the rays good chance at the series.  Still think the dodgers or San Fran are the teams to beat.  Those 2 teams are seriously stacked with ballers.  Dodgers have to get by st Louis tonight but if they do the dodgers San Fran series will be the series to watch.

Thanks! It's my virgin season sort of following and learning the ropes en route, but yeah, they are rightly so on bottom tier of teams left for this, I was saying much earlier they probably peaked too early and are now just purging all their losses, I don't know well enough physicality of the sport (if fatigue plays a part like football does) but I'm hoping by the time they're called on to play again they're up for it.

Dodgers the ones to watch eh? Already got past St Louis.

In particular, MLB Baseball is a special, rare, nostalgic, family, generational sport, it must be that unique sport where sometimes you follow it because yes, even if you don't like it ... but something in your childhood due to influence " familiar "or" moment "leads you to follow a certain team.

I have to say that definitely betting 6 months in advance is the best example of the difference between fan and gambler.

I totally get it. I can't recall where on this forum I discussed about what I always knew or heard about Baseball from pop culture (grew up in the 90s and many movies had people referencing Babe Ruth and BoSox never winning after that sale (then of course FSG also bought the club I support in England Liverpool). That's a faint familiarity and association for me, but it'll do!

That said, I always take pre-season future outright on footie. Possible to be both fan and gambler no? Wink

@buwaytress, that's a nice future ticket to be holding

Thanks! "Regretting" not putting more on it Wink

Wow guys. Can't believe my Sox are still in it, I actually bet on their final season game, but thought the Wild Card day would be one step too far -- and then last night happened.

Feel sorry for Cole, just got rushed, allowed 2 early home runs and that practically sealed the game.

Bosox 6 - 1 Yankees and my early outright @52 taken 6 months ago suddenly looks so much better now.

Sorry bud, can't say that I was real upset seeing the Red Sox take out the Bronx Bombers.  May have something to do with suffering for 108 years and seeing that other "pinstriped team" always winning.  Now if the Cardinals could just some how give up this game tonight I'd be REALLY happy!

Unpopular ... where? Wink
Come on, there are sports that only need fans and in the United States there are them for any type of sport, whether the rest of the world follows them or not, they really don't care.

The sport is not really as popular as it once was, however another factor is that the season is too long and the number of games to watch is huge, I like baseball but I watch the occasional game here and there during the regular season and only follow the playoffs, as this is the moment when the best and more meaningful baseball is played in which one loss makes a huge difference, while during the regular season yet another loss means nothing.

Yeah as a yankee fan this is the mecca of the season.  A one game playing against the Sox in their house.  Although nerve racking its like an immediate game 7 from the jump.  Hopefully the yanks come out quick.  8pm EST coming soon, #squadup!!

Well, not a lot of people were really introduced to it especially baseball needs a pretty big area to play in, unlike football or basketball that doesn't need a lot of space to play in as they can easily adjust together with it's players.
