Sunday is THE day of reckoning. No team leading on final day has ever lost in in the Prem. Time for history right?

did not know that
with Everton avoiding relegation, and me without internet for most Sunday, I would hardly even follow what is happening in last round, but would like it more for neighbors to win Premier, than City

on a side, it is unbelievable how people in my country are thinking that Villa would take the money, and even help City if anything goes wrong, and we are questioning ourselves why our League is not interesting at all

Definitely disappointed that the draw I was hoping not to appear... appeared. Ings and Coutinho came in too late to save the game but hopefully that means they're fresh and prepped for Sunday. Not sure what Gerrard was thinking to put Watkins alone up front, but anyway, Sunday is THE day of reckoning. No team leading on final day has ever lost in in the Prem. Time for history right?

It's that Stoke game for me, I don't think I need to clarify any more than that. Despite Aston Villa giving us a thumping recently, that Stoke game was definitely worse in my memory. Although, every team has a bad game, and it's nothing out of the ordinary. City sometimes have those games, although not very often in recent seasons. I mean, you could argue that we've smashed them to pieces at times even when we wasn't as strong as a team as we're now.

There were a blur of games during Hodgson's time where I probably felt I was in another universe, and objectively, my memories of that season when Salah/Mane/Firmino just burned everything in their path are markedly better than this season. Or even the season where we won the league. Especially those games where we just terrorised City and the best team in the realm had no answer.

We've gotten smarter with game management, calmer, wiser, so understandably, some of the thrill has gone.

My brain does seem to seek solace in those days when I'm quietly contemplating the prospect of losing one of those front 3.

That is also true, Premier League clubs always fight to the last minute no matter the stakes but I don't think it will matter that much since there is a big qoulity gap between these two clubs and Saints aren't a team that can defend whole game and get to the points that way.

Calcio still gets odds @2 for draws in last game week when draw is good enough for both sides. There are never odds like that for draws in PL.

That is so true. It makes it so hard to bet on draws in EPL especially when you actually watch them, the minute the teams are drawing you see both sides want to take all the points,,, for some reason they do this even if they are the poor side, with exception of one or two teams like Everton for a while (trying to draw and not win). But see when they play like last night they can even score 3 goals to win a game,,, I do not understand why they did not do this sooner!

This is even worse in injury time everyone thinks they can snatch the winner Smiley

I was watching the Aston Villa game for obvious reasons. My confidence might have taken a hit going into the weekend for the final game of the season. However, I'm still somewhat confident. Ings when he was on looked sharp, and I think he could knick a goal running in behind that City defense, which hasn't looked all that great in recent weeks, plus they do have a few injuries at the moment.

The only problem for me is Aston Villa likely is going to concede, it's just whether they have the firepower to hit back. Midfield for me is going to be dominated, so I'd like to see Villa approach the game with a counter attacking style. Sit back, and soak up pressure, and then look to break quickly. I think that's City's weakness, you see it every time they play against Spurs.

Edit: Oh shit, Everton have come from 2-0 down to be winning 3-2 with only a few minutes to go!

Im not sure what happened but its either Crystal Palace was throwing the game or Lampard is a freaking genius. Imagine watching 2 goal comeback by scoring 3 goals from a 16th place team and Everton is now officially safe from the relegation.

The relegation battle continues though, it will be between Burnley and Leeds. I personally think that Leeds has the better chance to win against Brentford next round rather than Burnley to win against Newcastle but I guess anything could have happened in the last round especially when relegation is in stakes

What a win by Everton. This is just insane from them after losing 0-2 at halftime they were losing really unlucky but were able to do a miracle and turn it around. Lampard just saved Everton and kept them in the Premier league huge thing for them this season

I needed a draw from Everton to be just 5 points behind the 10th place but I am happy for them that they won and they are safe now.It will be played between Burnley and Leeds but I think Burnley is somewhat more favored to stay in the Premier League.I had chosen 3 draws yesterday and I got 2 of them correct scores,if Everton ended 2-2 that would have been a perfect 9 points from three games for me.

I can't say I'm not disappointed about the news this evening Cheesy. Nah, in all seriousness, Everton deserved it. They really stepped up these last few games, and you can almost see the passion in their players again. I do think they'll need a complete clear out in the summer. Will be interesting to see if Frank can turn them around completely. I mean, the players they got aren't exactly awful, and I'm not quite sure what made them perform so bad over the course of the season.

It's kind of like United, where they have world class players, but don't perform or get the results. I do believe there's a lot going on at the board level, as well as struggling with Ferguson hangover still, but something is amiss. Everton obviously to a lesser extent, but they definitely have a problem or two. It'll be interesting to see if they keep their best players beyond this summer.

yeah, we are safe
f**k, against Brentford we had a lead and lost the match, and now we were two goals down to win the match in the end
nevertheless, it was up to Calwert and Richarlison to score to make us safe this season

now Burnley and Leeds have all the way in last round to fight for survival

I guess it's safe to assume that Everton are intentional about getting relegated, aren't they ?

Draw against Watford should have been bad enough, but then losing against Brentford and now 2 goals down against Crystal Palace, without any real sense of urgency. I'm pretty sure they'd likely lose the last game to Arsenal as well, but Leeds would need a win against Brentford if that happens to stay up.

So much for playing safe in the pool, I had Everton to win because of their relegation battle, but I didn't do same for Burnley who are in the lead against Villa.

Well Everton have equalised now to make it 2-2 and Burnley are drawing with Villa at 1-1. If these stay as draws it will certainly spice things up for the relegation battle. Gonna be very dicey for Leeds if both Burnley and Everton manage to grab the full three points now. I'm kinda hoping they both end a draw so there's everything for all three to play for.

Chelsea are also drawing 1-1 against Leicester right now.

What a complete turnaround from Everton, It's as though they read my initial message, but for the sake of my pick in the pool, I'd love to see Chelsea and Aston Villa both get a 2-1 win.

Oh well! It's official, Everton are safe and would be playing in the EPL next season.

As we head into the final games of a long season, this is how the pool looks. It’s very close between the top guys or the money the money spots. Who do you think will land the top prize?

Well you could have at least posted the top ten which I'm just clinging on to by half a point  Grin.

If Everton and Villa win today does that mean Leeds are relegated? Palace are currently 1-0 up against Everton and Burnley are drawing with Villa so I guess they're still in it. Shame Liverpool couldn't get all three points earlier in the month against Spurs as that will have certainly spiced things up for Sunday. Liverpool need to win and either hope City lose or get a draw but I can't see Villa beating City away. Liverpool should probably easy take Wolves at Anfield but it won't matter if City win.

Villa-Burnley and Everton-Palace tonight are banana skins...

as started, it seems that all but favorites are winning tonight
Palace and Leicester are up, we play as shit, and it is really hard to watch fans at this point, supporting players that really do not put anything into this match

somehow, Arsenal lost their chance to reach CL, so they will have nothing to play for in last round, but I really hoped for us to go through tonight, there is still a lot to play, but does not look good at the moment

I have gone with three draws tonight,I know this is impossible to happen but I got nothing to lose,I am 11 points from the tenth place and decided to gamble it all tonight,I wasn't expecting any prize just trying the luck as I don't think the games will end in a draw although they can especially Everton and Burnley who need points desperately trying to get out and be safe from that relegation zone.

I think the winner will be decided between the top 4 actually leading the table as they are just 4 points shy of each other and that is a number which can be easily bypassed, even 5-10 place has some chances if they go for radical results during the last week of the tournament.

I'm going with the prediction City 2 - 2 Aston Villa. I genuinely have the belief that Aston Villa can do it. Coutinho will have a good game, and Ings will be fired up. Gerrard will also have a little more to his team talks. I mean, wouldn't it just be poetic if Gerrard wins us that title? Since, arguably he probably does feel responsible for losing us our title with that game against Chelsea. Plus, it would be the closest he has come to winning the league with for us. I don't know, I just have a good feeling about it.

Oh, and I need to mention they gave us our worst defeat in my entire memory of watching Liverpool, maybe they can return the favour for City. Watkins had a hattrick on the day. You know I dream all kinds of dreams about this match, even though I'll be watching us try and take Wolves apart... GD is +6... and they have more goals scored so if, somehow, Villa win and we only draw, them winning by 7 goals is the only way we win the title.

call me stupid, but I also think that Villa will play professionally, never mind the money
it is money for the club, not players, and yeah, club will earn money, but players can earn their part only with points from the pitch
Ok, then we're both in the stupid camp haha. But nah, I think players, thankfully, are generally quite narcissists on the pitch. They will do their best to claim a scalp on final day. Careers are long and there aren't many opportunities to make an impression, and you never know which performance catches the eye of someone to get you more playing time, more salary at next negotiation, more rungs up the pecking order etc. Plus I've a feeling this team wants to demand Gerrard's eye, he's kinda that kind of manager I think. Enjoy your internet-free weekend, my man.

I already made the bets and locked them and did a little too big now when i look at it. Made some huge results for both City and Liverpool . Should have waited honestly a few more days but what the hell going with it. I hope i can reach the top 5 somehow i think im locked in top 10 for sure. If some miracle dosent knock me out

Draws took me tumbling in this current matchweek so yeah, hope to close out the 3 games left at least with points. Villa-Burnley and Everton-Palace tonight are banana skins...

I laboured a little too much over the final week's selection but I might still tinker with it on Saturday. Some obvious draws look likely but I'm going to risk tweaking a couple of tight wins, particularly with those fighting relegation.

But then we have Gerrard on the Villa bench and I am sure he would very much like to take title away from City to his beloved LFC. I just remembered that while walking the dog. Maybe there is some chance for Villa here.

Ings and Coutinho too, beloved ex-boys, and Ings almost scored against us recently (twice!), think if he had scored he'd have been man of the match if they took Diaz out of the team.

Oh, and I need to mention they gave us our worst defeat in my entire memory of watching Liverpool, maybe they can return the favour for City. Watkins had a hattrick on the day. But wait, there is one final, super unlikely scenario:
Liverpool draw 5-5
Villa win by 6 goals.

Then, City and Liverpool are tied on points, goal difference, AND goals scored. The next things to determine? H2H points, followed by away goals scored in the H2H. But they're also tied on this, 2-2 draws at both ties! The final thing to settle this is a one-off game.

Now, definitely call me stupid for spending time thinking of all these permutations ha ha!

Just don't bet on Villa against City. I know you were eyeing this one but there is another piece of bad news for Liverpool supporters. It seems that Grealish has a clause where Villa gets 18M if City wins the league. Would be quite stupid from them to throw that kind of money away. Not to mention that City is good enough to win even if they play their best and I suspect they will not push it too hard in this game.

but, yeah, it is a piece of the news, when you know that Villa is earning money by losing against City, good contract management
it is more to me that Villa lost all match against City since 2015, statistics have it that they have to take point after some seasons, but probably not this weekend

They will be professional no doubt but this is a case of smaller club fighting against one of the giants. In games like this everything has to work out perfectly for Villa and every player has to give their absolute maximum. Villa is not the club that can defend 90 minutes against City meaning they have to score at least 2 goals and probably 3 to get away with some points.

Stats that you quoted show perfectly well how though it is for Villa in this match up. There will just be so much more on the line for City and I don't see any way Villa can get to the points here. Maybe if the stakes were reversed and City did not need the points.

Edit:
