Man City recovered well as I expected they would. It’s what good teams do, they respond to defeats. There is no doubt City will become champions this season. I do hope they get knocked out of the CL though Wink
I like their consistency. As Liverpool fan it's hard to accept though. I just wish if we did not have injury in this season. It ruined us in EPL. But it's good to see that we are still in CL. I was not hopeful about last night but it was good to see we won by 2 - 0 against Leipzig. I was a bit worried.

Went for a risky 5-0 last night and City got the 5 exactly but I didn't expect Southampton to score. Would have won this round without those two goals.
I too did not expect two goals from Southampton, my guess was 3 - 0 to win for City.

How is that tackle from Saints goalkeeper on Foden not a penalty. This has started to be a total travesty in Premier League. There is no advantage rule for fouls in penalty area so this must be a penalty even though Foden tried to finish the chance. What message are you giving to the players with decisions like this? Fall down, yell like you have been shot and then you will get penalty. I am not blaming the main ref so much but whole VAR room should get sacked after apologizing to City  Grin

City is good enough to win even without that penalty but this just gets ridiculous.

Yeah, that was a blatant penalty but it's another one of those situations where if the player had gone down and stayed down it likely would have been given and that's why players get rewarded for diving because if you stay up it's never given. VAR should have given that on review though and I'm not sure why they didn't. The Southampton one didn't look like a penalty to me at all. It looks like he just threw himself to the ground and because there was apparently minimal contact of the City player having his hand on their shoulder a penalty is given. All this stuff does is encourage diving.

We've probably seen worse from VAR in the EPL, I'm not surprised..

I checked the pool and Twitchyseal and Webtricks went for 7 and 8 Nil respectively, I'd suppose that's some bluff even though City weren't too far from hitting those numbers.

We should have invested heavily after winning the CL & PL & we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Not sure when we will stop losing. It's now 6th lose in a raw in Anfield. It's seems we are losing our game when we are in our own ground. Not that we are doing great in away matches but losing 6th match in a raw in home ground is a disaster. Noting is going right and we need a fix.

Yes in jury is a problem but that's why the management are there. Don't they have good talk with Klopp?

My pool performance are just like my team. I also need a fix but not sure where to invest my focus. Any expert tips?

with all said, I have to tell that seeing Liverpool native English fans would like to see Gerrard on the bench, he is probably an icon there
title or not, Klopp can hardly go near Gerrard in long-term fans popularity, and that could be the fact for the board to make this change, it will be financial good-thinking for them

could Gerrard make something and get some trophies, it is another question, and probably Premier league title is hardly achievable with him, cup trophies (even Champions league) could be achieved

Sure they would, Gerrard is progressing nicely and if he continues to do so it would be great to have him leading us one day - especially because he's even ahead of Kenny in popularity and status. Currently, I think it's not even a competition - it's like we say Liverpool should sell Firmino and play Minamino there because he scored a goal for Southampton.

We will already have enough problems, making another huge one (by replacing Klopp and PAYING to do so) would be a clear sign we have completely lost it.

I think Klopp is safe, our owners are tight AF any way & I assume it’d cost a lot to sack Klopp whilst he is under contract. I mean we have the worst injury crisis I’ve ever seen in football & they spent £2,000,000 to fix it (pathetic). I don’t think they would spend a load of money sacking Klopp.

We should have invested heavily after winning the CL & PL & we wouldn’t be in this mess.

To add a bit more of fuel to that fire ... I just read on our local Croatian portal index that English bookmakers have listed Klopp as a big chance to get sacked. Only one standing worse at the moment is Steve Bruce. Possible replacements, listed from most likely to least: Gerrard, Nagelsmann, Marco Rose, Pep Lijnders and Max Alegri

I really don't see how sacking Klopp could help Liverpool in the long run so hopefully the board has not lost it completely.

I think there's absolutely no way of that happening. Klopp still is one of the most attractive factors for new players to join and has proven he can do wonders with our team and with smaller budget than the other teams.
More bad news for LFC supporters wanting to keep Klopp. Jugi Low will leave German National team after Euro this summer. That kind of job offer could tempt Klopp to leave Anfield especially if results are not good or he gets a lot of a bad press.

Our board has to be aware that all teams invest heavily while on top to keep their edge, we did not do it properly and are now paying the price for it. Klopp has a bit of the blame for sure but owners have more of it.

Our core players are getting old, they are on big contracts and we have some really tough choices to make. All of that without CL revenue, maybe even without EL revenue. I can't stop feeling so fucking angry, I can't even explain.

Klopp will not be sacked, we will be back & better next season.

I know this is supposed to be a mantra we're saying to ourselves currently, but what I'm afraid of is that this is something that will cost us dearly.

If we end up with EL spot, we will have to keep 20+ players on contracts, we'll miss CL revenue and will probably have to sell 1 star player (Salah?) in order to have money for new VVD&Henderson contracts.
If we don't get even the EL spor, we're in much bigger problems. We will have to cut the team to ~17 players, and some of our players will be hard to sell due to high wages. Without EL we're even worse with revenue so for sure one of our star players leaves.

I really don't want to be the bad prophet but I can see FSG saying 'f**k this, time to sell', and then we're in another rebuilding phase. That was caused by 2 months of utterly crap performances.

Superbru's down a lot lately for me, how about you guys?
~snip

For me its down a couple of times i was thinking it was my internet but i guess its their site

I had chelsea 2:1 do dissapointed really, leeds had draw 1:1 westham won by 2:0 with 2 goals dissallowed for leeds
So another bad day

yeah, seems that there is a lot of interest during match days, and their site is nearly down when there is several matches in several leagues playing in the same time (Saturday and Sunday evening), and it has to be due to their site, my net is mostly the same all the time, and in these pick hours, Superbru goes down
They have weak servers and they always end up down or working very slow at the moment when a lot of games finishes or last game of the week in PL has just been played. I just check my results a couple of hours later or during the game if I am really curious Smiley

expected more from Everton in London, but own goal in the beginning and it was all down, would not call play, since there was not any from Everton last afternoon
was good at standings prior to these two, tried with 1:1 mess up on Chelsea and 2:1 on West Ham, so nothing good in the end

Just when I thought I will end up with the wooden spoon this week I managed to get 2 correct scores from the 2 games of yesterday. This keeps my hope up for a dreamy 5th place in the standings in the end of the tournament but I know this is more like a dream.

By the way how to claim prize for yellow cap?Smiley

Normally Steve would PM you and ask for you sportsbet's account. Webtricks asked me the same question a week ago because Steve didnt PM him so I told him to PM Steve instead to ask about it ( or you could try to PM Webtricks to ask wether Sportsbets still give freebets for the Yellow Cap Winner ? )

Works fine for me, I dont encounter anything like that when I access it. Did you try to access the site after a match has just ended? Alot of people usually try to access it after a match end to check their points so probably usual server overload

I *think* I had the Chelsea game at 1:0

Do you use the nickname Sojourner in superbru? If yes then yeah you had 1:0 for Chelsea

Superbru's down a lot lately for me, how about you guys? I *think* I had the Chelsea game at 1:0 but can't even recall what I picked but am backing Leeds with money. Own goal (the build up deserved the goal though have to say) and penalty, but they won't care as they have the Atletico game coming up.

So many points from 4th to 6th place heh.

Yes, I'm pretending I didn't see any of the Liverpool discussions here.

Well, we lost Van Dijk & Gomez (our first choice CB pairing) for the whole season in October. We had to move Fabinho (our best defensive midfielder) back to CB, then Matip got injured for the whole season. We lost Jota &
Thiago for 3-4 months. Klopp’s Mother died, Alisson’s Father died, Henderson has been missing for long periods. I’ve never seen us have an injury crisis like this.

We shouldn’t be losing to teams like Burnley, Everton & Fulham at home, it hasn’t been good enough but you can see the recipe of disaster above. Nothing has gone right & we are having the worst season I can remember. No team could cope with these injuries. Last season Man City said losing Laporte to an ACL meant they could not win the title. Well Liverpool’s injuries are ten times worse.

Liverpool rely on passion & atmosphere from the crowd more than most teams Klopp, for example would we have beaten Barcelona 4-0 in an empty Anfield, no chance.

Klopp will not be sacked, we will be back & better next season.

it would be a big mistake to fire Klopp. He is one of the best managers and certainly has enough trust credit. But he also has to make some changes, it was visible at the end of last season even after the lockdown ends. I was surprised he didn’t significantly refresh the team. Although a similar situation has passed and in Dortmund.
He signs Thiago which did not bring significant improvement, also sold Lovren which would now be very useful.
About injuries, yes it must be admitted that they were not so lucky. Even the debacle against Villa is much before all injuries and dies.
Also, the attack does not work, they did not score at Enfield in the last six games (expect penalty against Man. City).
