Just reading Aston Villa have had a Covid breakout so the game with Liverpool might be cancelled tomo!

From what I've heard, they don't have any available dates for rescheduling. Not sure what will happen next but I'd love it if they had to send reserves to play.

In a way it would represent justice for that cup game last season in which we lost 5-0 and they celebrated like they won the world cup against our 17-year old players.

If you’re a Liverpool fan.  Grin  As a neutral I’d like to see them win vs Burnley just to see things get more interesting.  Football has been a bit boring this season.

I'm not a Liverpool fan (though I would support them over United) but even them losing will still make things interesting. Personally I'd prefer a different team to win other than the usual suspects. The Liverpool/Manchester game on the 17th will be very interesting. Hard to predict what will happen. Liverpool should win at home but with their recent form it should be pretty open. Or United will take a tumble. A draw us looking the most tempting to me right now but obviously will have to wait for both teams next results.

And if there was a stadium full of fans for the derby and VAR pulls off millimeter offsides shenanigans again, removing goals a minute later...  There’d be a riot.

Have all fans been banned again? The UK has gone into another full lockdown so I doubt they will be letting fans in. I don't think they should have allowed them in the first place unless all clubs could have had them anyway and certain parts going into different tiers was a silly idea.

I was just trying to make a point how dumb VAR is turning out to be.  The match on the 17th is yuuuge..  Imagine a stadium full of fans, it’s nil - nil at the 90th, Salah makes a goal!  ...  Then VAR, offside by half a millimeter.  Ref takes out the goal, it’s back to nil - nil and United makes a goal at stoppage time and wins the game.

Riot.

FA Cup this weekend, shame we have to take a weekend off the pool. Then again, I’ve been useless lately so perhaps a weekend off is good for me.

I wouldn't write off Spurs or even Leicester yet. It's still pretty open really though City do still have two games in hand which will take them to the top with two points clear. Everton and Villa are the two cancelled games I think and neither are a push over. They're even occupying 7th and 8th places. I'd rather see a different team win it from the usual lot.

I think we will have a decent push for the top 4, for sure, and if we can win each of our games against the big six in the coming months,,, we can definitely have a strong hold and hope others find it as difficult as it was early season.

But I know we rely too much on Kane/Son so it all, as usual, depends on if they stay fit and injury free.

I think Manchester United is stronger and more consistent this year with only three lost games. If they continue like this they are the top contender to win the title now that Liverpool has made a lot of mistakes lately.Manchester City is not that consistent although lately they have recovered quite well.

And here’s the interesting bit...  United will play vs Burnley at the midweek to catch up.  If they win that, they’d be the leading the league when they play LFC the very next weekend.  Should be good.

Hopefully Burnley will beat them. They haven't been playing too bad recently and will want to stay clear of the relegation zone. It's at home for them as well. I'll probably watch that game.

Burnley simply lacks the power to hold of a team like Manchester United nowadays, just go look the all the red L indicating a huge number of lost games for Burnley while Manchester has only three lost games in total in the Premier League.I think they lost yesterday to Manchester City as their focus probably is 100% on the Premier League this year.

Have Man Utd done pretty so far, Absolutely! but we'll they keep this momentum all through the season, I strongly doubt that, I would tip Manchester City to end the season better, we all consider City to have been very inconsistent this season, but still just 4 points behind with 2 games at hand. I think this season will be an interest one, with a lot of teams still in contention and the gaps are very marginal.

^  And check the table.  United still is a fixture behind and so is Tottenham.  City is two fixtures behind.  And here’s the interesting bit...  United will play vs Burnley at the midweek to catch up.  If they win that, they’d be the leading the league when they play LFC the very next weekend.  Should be good.

What the hell is happening to Liverpool? I didn't watch the game but are they bottling it? I thought going for 1-1 was risky but didn't expect them to lose. Only one person backed the home win and even got the score right. Looks like City is gonna run away with it this year. They practically had their b-team out against Chelsea and still managed to stuff them.
~snip

City or United? United is actually having the best winning strike in years, and they are currently on the top (or second, but with a game to play)
it is an interesting season, I thought that Tottenham having bad strike will kick them out from the race, but Liverpool is having bad strike as well, and that gave chance to others to come closer, United used that chance in a best way
even Everton and Leicester are still within distance to top teams, it will a hell of success to get Champions League spot this season, obviously

is it due to empty (or 2000) attendance or something else, but one of the most interesting seasons in a while

Man City or United what? To win the league? City. I don't think United are strong enough and will drop in form soon enough. Maybe I'm not giving them their dues but they haven't really played any tough teams recently except for City and Leicester where the managed draws. They're playing Liverpool on the 17th so that should be good.

Lampard getting sacked soon?

They shouldn't have given him the job anyway. ex-Players should have to prove their worth managing other clubs instead of being a shoe-ins for big clubs. Always annoys me when people brandish managers great and their first jobs were managing Barca or PSG or something and then move on to another huge club who always win. Go manage an average team and they see how well they do. Managers are usually only as good as their teams.

I am thinking those empty stadiums have much more influence on bottom part of the table than on top. I am quite sure Sheffield and WBA would have few points more at home pitch if they had their fans backing them. As it stands now, they are basically already relegated.

Top of the table is as you said very interesting. All top clubs had some bad spells and there is still a lot of contenders for that trophy. I still expect United to loose their form along the way and drop out of the title race in two or three months. In the end it will be between City and LFC as expected. Spurs are also doing ok but I don't see them as contenders for title. Champions league spots for Spurs and United will be prize enough.

Lampard can be sacked because suddenly they are doing very poor and both teams from Manchester doing very good even still long way to go but this is not good for Chelsea as they need to do some very good for staying in for Champions League spot for next year in presence of some very good teams like Tottenham, Lecister City and Southampton three teams already on spot for next year now we have only one team from these four teams to be in.

Looks like we've got another unique yellow cap winner with famLFC coming out on top. He only won it by 0.5 though and just beat out tomahawk9 and jayce.

FA Cup this weekend & I’m kinda goad, my boys LFC are in terrible form. We could do with a change of scenery, that Van Dijk injury & also losing Joe Gomez for the season has KO’d us. Oh well I support my team through good & bad times.

I kinda liked having the lots of games over the Christmas/New Year period. Always something to watch. The 12th seems a long way away now. Really don't care for the domestic cups these days. They probably should have scrapped them this year with covid.

Yeah... not TOO worried about our front 3, yeah, a bit off, but they keep creating chances so it's going to happen. Seeing our midfield tinker with Thiago/Ox/Shaq did make me feel worried though. I like them all and they did try to create or force the issue but we're not playing the dangerous fluid passing we used to. Just a lot of trying to cross that didn't go anywhere, and not really the right stuff to do against solid aerial team like Southampton.

I do want us to progress in FA cup too...

That was a weird result, wasn't it ? but at least someone (Jayce) from the pool got all 3 points.

It was and If only Jayce had Tottenham to win then he would have won this week making him the first one to win more than 1 time this season.

Lol that's weird right? I managed to predict the exact result of Southampton vs Liverpool by making upset pick while somehow I didn't choose Tottenham to win against Leeds.

Good luck guys for the next gameweek.
