^  Almost itm.  All it takes is a good run for a couple of weeks and you get to challenge for top bastard.  Lol.

Anyway, I picked City 2 - 1 but I fear for Citehhh.  Rodgers will prolly go for quick balls like how LFC and United did it.

Getting my picks in now, doesn’t look like I have much chance to get into the paid positions via pool position but still the prizes for high scorer in individual match week to fight for. I will keep trying Wink

Do not lose hope mate, there are still so many points to grab till the end of the competition. If you can do your best every week and you get more points than the others, you will able to climb up on the leaderboard.
I was on 13 or 12 position last two weeks IIRC but now I'm on 6. It shows that anyone still has chance to win something from the pool. Of course it will not be easy but at least try your best every week.

It is all very silly re : Liverpool in the Caraboa Cup. Many organisations are to blame, including EFL, EPL and CC. Liverpool are innocent in all this . But the most upset with this situation should be MK Dons! They lost to Liverpool in Round 3, but Liverpool fielded an ineligible player - Pedro Chirivella. Liverpool got fined and MK Dons missed another potential big payday in round 4. If Liverpool has been expelled by the competition, not of this fuss would have occurred ! Just saying  Smiley

It was not entirely Liverpool's fault, that's why they were not expelled from the competition but fined instead.

Full story looks like this:

Quote
The EFL said in a statement: “Following a comprehensive review of all the evidence, the board determined that it wasn’t appropriate to expel the club from the competition because of a number of mitigating factors.”

Liverpool requested the paperwork in July but the process can only be completed with the Football Association’s intervention and that is where the club believe the error has been made.

A statement from the EFL continued: “In particular, the board noted that the club had sought the assistance of the Football Association in securing the return of the international clearance prior to the start of this season, and the club had been able to include the player on team sheets for Premier League Two matches [under Premier League rules] and one Leasing.com Trophy match, which resulted in the breach not being identified until the club reported the issue to the EFL and Premier League following the MK Dons match.

Totally not Liverpool’s fault - I agree . All relevant associations knew about the fixture congestion for Liverpool - so  they can’t replay the match , as more congestion for Liverpool , can’t award win to MK Dons - no precedent I think, so Liverpool lose money , MK Dons lose future money and associations earn money !!! Yeah I don't know, I always considered the league cup a good cup. It's a domestic cup and it's important. I did feel like we could have afforded to leave behind some of the senior side, and I would have gone firing on all fronts.

BUT I like the Klopp doesn't want to second guess himself. He wants the Prem title, he doesn't want to go all out and try in vain for everything. He has a target and it's the Prem. Big ears would be a nice bonus too. Anything else is icing on the cake.

The PL is pretty much in the bag at this point as long as they don't do something crazy and there's no CL for a while either so I feel like he could have afforded to put decent teams out for a couple of games in the CC. Just seems silly to me to get all the way to the quarters then just throw it all away as they could have easily won this tournament. Leicester are arguably the only team left with a title shot but they seemed to take it serious. If the only thing Liverpool win this year is the PL I can't help but feel it will be a little underwhelming. Not to take anything away from that as it's a huge achievement in itself, but big clubs should be proving their worth by winning multiple trophies and it'll probably be either Leicester or one of the Manchester teams that wins it now. If City go on to win one of the other domestic trophies and maybe even to win the CL that will probably trump Liverpool's seasons IMO. City did the domestic treble last year so I feel like Liverpool should also be aiming for it especially with the PL essentially already won. I feel like Klopp could have really pressed to reschedule the game, especially when the alternative is fielding an inexperienced team of kids. They could have even just flat out refused to play and I'm sure they would have rescheduled it then.

After the match, AV managers John Terry and Dean Smith congratulated to Liverpool kids
I am not sure why this game was not delayed. it was not fair to Liverpool.
As I read somewhere that EFL offered alternative dates for this match, but it wasn't good for Liverpool and they asked to play on 17th December. League Cup is meaningless trophy, but it's still unfair situation for Liverpool.
So, Liverpool had quite difficult game against Monterrey from Mexico, but they won after late goal of Firmino. But their squad wasn't optimal tonight. Final against Flamengo on Saturday.

Yeah, it was pointless, because the match if delayed would have just caused a delay to an FA Cup game instead. And if that was pushed up, it was basically just delaying the issue. There has to be a better way for football teams who don't have a B squad the way teams like City do. Anyway, yeah Flamengo up. Monterrey were a real thorn, I did have a different impression of Mexican football though... seems a lot more direct than I remember.

Anyway, I'm putting my picks in early. Won't be around to watch most of this weekend's game! Superbru even has a Santa reminder. Thick and fast, gentlemen!

2-1 Firmino my man ensures I see the dream final in Doha on Saturday.

The pitch actually doesn't look too bad from my screen. We'll see.

Farewell LEO: o_e_l_e_o

Leicester have done well but I think it's only a matter of time before their form turns. They already dropped points to Norwich and I'd be surprised if they can get more than a point from the City/Liverpool games. Probably doesn't really matter much because I can't see either City or Leicester being viable title contenders at this point. As I said before, it would be really interesting if they can get six points from those two games though. Might make Liverpool sweat a bit.
The habit Liverpool has built up so far, I do not think Leicester will give them any sweat but they could make sweat to City. Just like how Utd handled them (City). There are no race for first position and may be the next match between Leicester vs City will decide who will take the 2nd place. If Leicester wins then they will be ahead by 7 points from City and if they draw then we will still have 4 points difference. A win for City will obviously close the gap.

Problem with City is that they are not very consistent with their performance and which is why they lost some easy points and they may lose some more. Leicester is in winning habit so the confidence is much there. Let's see where we go.

Did anybody watch Aston Villa - Liverpool yesterday?

I really disliked Aston Villa as a club but after yesterday, I wish they get relegated to conference league. An utterly shit team was so outplayed by a bunch of Liverpool children that they should be ashamed of themselves and yet they celebrated their fluke goals like crazy.

Liverpool's average lineup age was 19 and they should have at least had a draw. Villa won 5-0, I really do not know how, but their attitude throughout the game was horrible.

We have far bigger fish to fry, mate. Don’t worry about it too much, crap competition any way.  Eyes on the big prizes ———> PL & CL.

Should be fun to see how we get on in this World Club Championship.

Yup, we do. But I want all the trophies, even the Mickey Mouse cup.
I'm pissed because the kids actually played better than an overpriced Prem team and deserved a much better result.

I want the world championship too, although it seems we're playing a weakened side tonight as well. I support it, of course, Prem and CL are the important ones. But let's get all we can and I just felt that the 5-0 and the celebrations of that deflected crap goals was a bit too much.

Would still rather Leicester come second.
I have said it few weeks ago that for the 2nd position race, Leicester is the one who fits the most. City's performance are not much consistent. They seems to draw and sometimes lose against the teams who they could easily beat and collect full points. Even the match against Utd, they were not capitalizing the chances. A team like Utd had so many bad matches in this season but they were able to manage a win against City.

Drew with Newcastle
Losing against Wolves in a home match
Losing against Norwich

These are some matche results that really do not fit with a team like City. On the other hand Leicester is more into winning habits and showing constant performance although they have few matches left against team like City and Liverpool. Perhaps City can help themselves to recover the lose they already had so far but I doubt it is going to help much.

I am just happy to see that Liverpool is moving faster to their goal in this season. This is our time, our moments, our season!

Turned it off after half time. Complete joke. They should have postponed it like they did with their PL game but for some reason Klopp doesn't seem to care that much about the cup. Not sure why because Liverpool should be trying to win as much silverware as possible and they could have gone for the domestic double or even treble which is no easy feat. Putting out teams of kids makes tournaments a joke. Doubt it would be allowed in the Premier League. Don't you have to state your squads at the beginning of the tournaments? Not sure how they got away with fielding an entire team of kids nobody had ever heard of before. They should have just split their team in two and half go to play the UEFA Cup oro whatever it is and the other half plays the CC. What's the point in that anyway. It's only a couple of games isn't it? They should be playing these sorts of things after the PL and CL have finished. There's already too many games and tournaments to worry about and now we're getting kids playing in place of their main teams because of it. I'd be pretty pissed if I was a Liverpool fan and paid good money to see a Sunday league game.

Arsenal COULD try & win the Europa League. It looks a lot more likely as a route to next seasons CL than finishing in the top 4 of the league.
I’m surprised at how poorly Emery did in the PL, probably just a case of wrong place at the wrong time.
Personally, I don't see current Arsenal, considering how they are playing. Even team like Olympiakos in next round won't be easy for them. I think Arsenal fans should forget about Champions league for another season.

Actually DeathAngel has a point. Arsenal as I see it are just very prone to nerves and pressure. They have expectations of top 4 finish in EPL which their entire supporters also pressurize them for.

In Europa maybe a bit different, no one expects them to win PLUS against new opponents everything is a surprise, and I think teams are also surprised by how fast and agile Arsenal players can be (when they want to).

Another final sounds about right for them. But if they meet another English opponent, then bye bye...
