Played football mostly as a defender and you do NOT assume anything at all until the whistle has blown. Simple as that. Granted, some offsides are so obvious you get so pissed the flag takes forever to rise but it's your professional duty to play until the ref tells you game stops.

Wasn't there a whistle? After Shelvey scores he sort of makes a gesture pointing to his ear and telling the referee that he didn't heard the whistle. At least that was my impression.

Totally agree -buywatress , can’t stand donkey ass defenders raising their hands looking at linesmen or referees  , they should be chasing the ball or player until the whistle blows ! A top quality attacker knows this too and studies the defenders who do it .
On another note , really struggling on the Man City v Man U match . Logic says city , but I got a funny feeling ... plenty of goals though hopefully.
Good luck all  Smiley

Love Shelvey but yeah, what's the point of a linesman anymore if he raises the flag but game still can go on and VAR overrule? VAR turned out to be right of course, but for me regardless of the outcome, I can't stand defenders who just stop in their tracks when they think an offside happens. But, back to reality.

I have one single bet: United to win at almost 11/1. This is less about betting on United then betting against City though.

Some exciting games this weekend, I think Man City will beat United. Got a slight feeling Villa & Leicester will draw. Leicester won’t continue their form imo, they're definitely overachieving.

3 matchdays in a week! On top of that lot of upsets! Job of making picks is becoming difficult and difficult. I somehow managed to score adequately in Matchday 14 but matchday 15 was horrible for me. I made all picks in just 40-45 seconds and see I got only 2 points! Lesson learnt: Never hurry in your life, patience is the key. Cheesy

Matchday 16 have some amazing games to offer. One of the most awaited is Manchester Derby. I am going for 2-2 draw. I feel Man Utd will be able to pick a point. Another game I am looking for is Aston Villa vs Leicester City. This would most probably end up in draw too and Liverpool may be 10 points clear after this matchday.

LoL, this one hit me hard. I am dying!  Grin

How is real to Man. UTD to play well two big games in just three days, I am not sure. Aston Villa maybe can make a surprise, but Leicester is a strong team I do not expect much from there.

Man Utd have played comparatively better against top teams than weak teams. If we take a quick look on the season so far, Man Utd was able to beat Chelsea (twice), Tottenham and Leicester City. While it was able to stop Liverpool and Arsenal on draw. So expecting another draw is not much of the ask from MU.

While on the other side, I played a risky move by picking draw between Aston Villa vs Leicester City (even though I am rooting for LC to win PL this season). It may work or maybe not just like my hundred of predictions which failed so far.  Cheesy

Well, I was going to be surprised if anyone got those results right, even the outcomes, as the both the strong favourites lost, but surprised to see that Brainboss was the only person to get points and from a correct score as well. Shame about Sheff losing. I was hoping they could continue to be a threat but maybe their run is over now, especially with the big games they've got coming up.

Another VAR travesty in Sheffield game. Line referee lifts the flag and Sheffield players stop the play. Shelvy continues to score the easy goal and even apologizes to the referee that he didn't hear the whistle. VAR kicks in and says goal is valid.

Ok, this is not VAR mistake, the only guilty party is line referee who shouldn't lift the flag unless he is 100% sure but Premier League really implemented this technology in worst possible way. It works much better in all other competitions.

Did the referee actually blow the whistle? It looked like he allowed the play to go on, but this sort of situation does raise questions. Should the play be allowed to continue and then do a VAR check? Should the linesman keep his flag down and allow play to go on but then put their flag up after the attack has finished or if a goal has been scored. It's clear the Sheff players actually stopped and even the keeper sort of seemed to half-ass it as he wasn't sure. It must be incredibly difficult to see these sorts of close call offsides and it's going to be pretty disastrous if linesman call it and then VAR shows it to be an incorrect decision. What then? A free kick or drop ball to the attacking team is largely useless as all momentum is lost and the other team can regoup.

Yep, horrible. Things like these will get better over time though, the refs really shouldn't flag when in any doubt now that they have VAR.
And agreed on Prem league's implementation, I've said it many times already. With all that money and status, that league was always the worst with refereeing and now it just transferred to VAR.

It is not VAR's fault that people in FA are clueless. VAR has its issues, yes, but it's way more confusing in England than anywhere else.

edit: poor Arsenal is here to change this and make Brainboss the only point winner today  Cheesy

Lol, still have my bet on them to lose next match away to west ham and united will probably hold city to a draw (Initially had my pick on city to win but just changed my mind) since united are quite known for turning up defensively for big game and pay counter attacking football and we all know defensively city can't be relied on so probably Rashford would be given room to put on another Rashford top teams display. Might change this back since it's an away match but lets see how the atmosphere will be like tommorow lol.

Chelsea away to Everton is a most win for Lampard, I miss the old days of 3 plus away goals, hope we can replicate Liverpool's success probably scoring three or more goals since there isn't a clear assurance of clean sheet.

What matches today. Newcastle surprise all of the pool members, also no one picked draw on Ars. V Bri. which is actually a result.
It seems none of us 30 will earn one single point from today games  Shocked
Well, there is more than 20 minutes in Arsenal game left, I hope that they will score, they are pushing hard. David Luiz goal was cancelled after huge offside, while Brighton had great chance to score few minutes ago.
And I'm surprised that nobody picked Newcastle to win.
EDIT And Brighton just scored! Cheesy

It's quite unusual that no one picked, given the fact they weren't even heavy underdogs

Brainboss (Just as his name implies) will get full 3 points if Brighton are able to see out the win.

Watching the Sheff match since the half time and seems like Newcastle got luck today. 2 - 0 ahead, Newcastle. The goal from Shelvey really was confusing for the players in the ground and good thing that he did not stop and VAR found him legal too.

Sheff are playing most of the game but I do not think they can come back even a draw is not possible anymore. Only 10 minutes left.
Shelvey goal is very confusing but today again no one going to take any point from this game and we are going to have another upset as Brighton is also leading and Arsenal is still aweful and look like they are going down in league and hard for them to come up and give any challenge to top order.

@LFC @cryptofrka: Yeah, I always talk about my memories, and Istanbul is still a great memory, embarassed sometimes that it is my most cherished throwback, rather than about some girl or other life-changing moment, but it is what it is.

I agree. We had El Nino and Suarez and Stevie G Captain Fantastic but even in those heady days of topping the league at Christmas there was such a nervousness of people playing to their limits and peaking at their talents.

This team? It's less glamourous. Everyone is closer to the team average, and the team is not only the sum of its parts but every sum of every combination of parts is the same beating heart. I know everyone is so envious of our team, and not the way people envied United or Chelski or Citeh.

We really needed that game didn't we? After all the 2-1s, where sometimes we laboured. This one was for everyone to enjoy. Thanks Everton too for actually showing up to the derby!

ha! Now, check this out:

You know what that is? That's Man Utd ruining my 6 fold acca (all the EPL games today) @22.77 (I had Spurs win & O1.5 goals). I think this is the 3rd time in a row that I've added Man Utd to a parlay and they're the ones who end up screwing me over. #SolskjaerOut  man i'm so pissed right now lol

Okay this is paid full and seems like it not only you and Harkorede, I was in the queue too. My odd was not that high but it was decent. I had
Chelsea to win
Leicester to win
Liverpool to win and
Tottenham win or draw

I am not logged in to sportsbet or I could tell you the odd. Last night because of this unexpected Utd performance I think a lot of people lost their bets too.

LOL how do you get all these corners correct? And amazingly in Utd match the corner bet was a failed too! Is this a co-incedence?
Sometime this happen as in Last season I place few Parlays every time when I have Bayern for over/under goals ML or Corners I lost many bets same happening with @tomahawk9 as Manchester United is not luck bunny for him right now.
