I have to say I was impressed with England yesterday. Senegal is a good team, filled with players from the top leagues.
I expected a much closer game, England will give France a run for their money.

Kane finally scored, it will be important for his confidence going forward. What to say about Bellingham though? A fantastic player in the making.

Yeah, I only predicted 2-0 but from what I read it could have been more, honestly I'm just happy to get close scores from 2 games to keep my position, #1 guy has such a huge lead so it's pointless to catch him. More important to just keep getting close scores to stay in touch.

I notice Henderson and Bellingham have so many pics together online, so Liverpool seem to be really keen on taking him, hope he goes to a team that will use him and not bench him though!

^Yeah my brain said it's an England no-brainer but I went for the upset in the pool... all favourites through in the end. They grind out a win, or overpower with many trying to counter from Senegal mistakes, or take it to penalties, all routes showed English superiority and it ended up to be so. Hope England play like this against France, no older enemy than them to get motivated! Bellingham's game, first half at least.

A lot of them are doing this now and they should prohibit it. It's cheating really. They wait to see which way the keeper is going then put it in the opposite side. Penalty takers obviously don't have much confidence when they do this. If players stop in their run up then that should be it and they either forfeit it or have to do the run up again.

I don't like it too, and since they made the keeper moving off his line a bigger deal in recent years, feel like penalties more than ever put the taker on the advantage (as, I guess, it should be).

I suppose some people playing in different cultures wouldn't mind it (and I'd never have guessed Lewie does it), but yeah I feel like you got to put a limit on it, some moves border on unsportsmanlike conduct.

Damn, it's so easy for England and France. I think it's a bit unfair that in the 1st half referee didn't called end of it and let England to make attack when time was already over and Kane scored then. With 1:0 at halftime it could be much more interesting game. Now 2nd half reminded some meaningless friendly game, rather than World Cup 1/8 final.

So far, the playoff games are going in the boring manner that I expected. There are very few even games, and tomorrow we are also unlikely to see them.
Yeah, so far there was no chance to see any upset. Underdogs wins is fun thing, but on the other hand now we will have TOP games in 1/4 finals like Argentina - Netherlands or France - England. Tomorrow I don't expect to see drama in South Korea - Brazil game, but Japan - Croatia should be interesting.

I'm highly anticipating the quarter finals fixture to be very honest, I really can't rule out England after what I saw tonight and the encounter vs France would definitely be a one to anticipate, Mbappe has been on fire, but it's going to be a different level of task in a faceoff versus Kyle Walker who has been impressive.

I really think I might even back England to advance in that fixture, and it will all be a battle to be won in the midfield which England also have a luxury of right now. It seemed more like a walk in the park for England after they've found their rhythm after the first goal, and from there it was just a matter of time.

Thanks to Mbappe today, who managed to score two goals to become the man of the match, knowing that I made him the captain of my official squad for the fantasy game.

Yes, this is what happened. The referee should have ended the first half and not left an opportunity for Kane, so I got the correct result for the match for France. I look forward to getting the right results tomorrow.

I had 2-0 England to win in the pool and they just scored right now,of course the game was boring up until now but I think it will change as Senegal got nothing to lose. This will also open up possibilities for England to score more goals but most likely the second half is not going to be as boring as this one.

For tomorrow the odd of Brazil 1.30 looks to me like a sure bet as the difference between Brazil and South Korea is astronomic, the fact that they beat Portugal does not mean anything to me,the forwarders of Brazil were both amazing,Martinelli and Antony,no wonder why Arsenal is in the top of Premier League,Martinelli is a super star,I was really impressed by his play against Cameroon.

I predicted 3-0 and I want England to stop now  Grin
When you want to fix a convenient score, 25 minutes seems so long...  Roll Eyes And I hope that Senegal won't score also for this reason:

I was expecting the goals at second half, although I have that score, I think we are going to have more goals.

Substitution, 3 Senegal.

Robert Lewandowski(!?) the great disappointment of this World Cup and his attitude celebrating the goal says a lot about how he took this World Cup in the sporting aspect, vacations.

That celebration was from teams like Australia, for example, a player of his category and Poland is not a team without history in the World Cups, disappointment.

I don't see him at the level of Boniek or the incredible Lato, they gave it their all with his national team.

He is a great Club player, no one can take that away from him and one of the best 9 in recent years.

France looked very impressive winning 3-1. I had 3-0 France, damn Lewandowski scored a penalty in deep added time to make it 3-1.

Attention turned to England vs Senegal now.

England to win 2-0 & set up a 1/4 final vs France.
France looks awesome against Poland. mbappe scored 2 goals (he's on fire), and it was an easy game for France. France is just waiting for England (I'm sure England will win easily against Senegal).

#half time = England 2 - 0 Senegal

I've gone for an England win but I don't have that much faith in them. Senegal will be fired up as the underdogs. France will blitz England in the next round anyway.
Ngl, i have a some respect for Senegal, look at what Cameroon did to Brazil a few days ago, african teams are a force to be reckon with...

Got a friend friend with a cheeky Senegal win @9 odds, hope it hits. 25minutes and it's a boring match

Very lucky goal for Australia indeed and it would have been very sad for Argentina to get extra time and possibly penalty shootout which are always a huge gamble. Argentina had several 100% opportunities to score 3-1 but missed it and was very lucky in the end. Great save from keeper Martinez in 90+6 as well.

it is always good to learn a lesson and stay, on the other hand, so Argentina progressing will make really interesting match in first QF - Netherlands has slightly better chance to pass through IMO, but you never know with Messi
This will be a close game. Van Gaal, Dutch coach, will analyze in detail how to play against Argentina and Messi as Van Gaal is know to be a great tactician.

Dang, that literal last minute penalty cost me a perfect score.
Here as well.  Cheesy
I was hoping for a correct score when Mbappé scored 3-0 for France in 90+1 but Lewandowski ruined it in 90+6. He even did it only in his 2nd attempd because Lloris moved too early from the line, would be nice if that save would have been legitimate.  Cry
But overally a good game from Poland despite losing 3-1. Poland missed a few good opportunites.
Finally, Mbappé made the difference once again.

Dang, that literal last minute penalty cost me a perfect score. Need all the points I can get when there's fewer and fewer games, especially from the highly favourited teams like France where next to nobody goes for the draw or shock loss.

That penalty re-take was annoying. No need to rush into the box before the ball has even been kicked. It will usually always come back to haunt them because if the penalty is saved they're just giving them an opportunity to re-take it. To be honest, I think I'd prefer it if they made all the players start from the half way line and it's one on one until the rest of the players get there. That would add a little more spice to the game I think. Most penalties are scored anyway and most missed go out or over the bar but for those that aren't it's one v one.

However I would love to see some fire from Robert Lewandowski, he is one of the most decorated player not only for Poland but for the entire Europe.
Gotta feel bad for Lewa. You can't even call Poland a one-man army cos even he can just dissapear out of the game.

France 2-0 already. England later on, should b 3-0. Easy games

Can't say I've seen him take penalties, actually, is that his usual style, to trick the goalie? Worked, for sure, and gave me the exact score I need to make up lost ground. I went with another 3-1 for England, it'll be really cool to get 3 points for that too, seems that clean sheets are a rare commodity in these rounds now hm?

Netherlands v Argentina in quarter final sounds like a tasty match. Messi, de Jong, de Light, Lisandro, Lautaro, Memphis...

I'd put my money on Argentina tho... Too much firepower
Messi is in good form so my bet will be for Argentina too. I would also like to see a match between Argentina vs Brazil In football world cup nothing else could be more beautiful than see these two rivalry going against each others. It would have been more exciting if Neymar was not injured.

Today France and England should qualify. However I would love to see some fire from Robert Lewandowski, he is one of the most decorated player not only for Poland but for the entire Europe.

I forgot to put my picks once again - that makes it 4 games in total so far. I don't know whether to be happy to still be 20th or to be so pissed off because I'm 4 points away from a top 5 position.
~

Why don't you make choices in advance for the entire Match Day? It seems quite convenient to me, and given that every game is valuable, missing predictions is very painful for the position in the table.

France vs Poland @ 15:00 GMT
England vs Senegal @ 19:00 GMT

We should see France & England advance to the 1/4 final but this World Cup has been very unpredictable. Let’s hope we see two entertaining games, hoping I can pick up some EXACT scores to climb the table in our pool Smiley

Yes, most likely the result is predetermined in these pairs, so the only thing that matters is who is lucky enough to guess the exact score. Personally, I expect a labor victory for France and an easy victory for England.

Everybody hopes so especially after most of the pool missing out on an exact score on Argentina because I believe no one thought that Argentina would win only with 1 goal difference. In today games I think the teams that will qualify is England and France but I don't know if they will do so during the regular time or maybe through extra time or even through penalties.

The fact is that I doubt we will see any surprise in this stage of the tournament,it is true that a lot of surprises have happened but they were all during the group stage, now no team can afford to make mistakes as a mistake cost them the direct elimination.

England and France should be secured for today, but one has to prove that on the pitch, and Poland could put France to stretch for next round, not sure about Senegal, but I did not see them passing Ecuador as well, and they did
