Maybe I might not totally agree with Trofo's and Igebotz's assertion of all England players being overrated probably due to the exposure and quality of the league in general, I would say there are world class players spread all over the premier league but perhaps at different teams,

What made a world class player is consistency can we say that about any of the English player apart from Harry Kane?

Also All England players are overrated due to Premier League quality and rule that PL clubs have to have certain amount of English players.
Overated and lazy by default. Agreed.

Agree most of them are lazier than when they play club football, but I think, on evidence of what I see, at least Saka plays his heart out for club and country. That's kinda why I liked him a lot. But overall, they do suffer from being hugely overrated. I rarely enjoy watching England play, it's just not exciting stuff.

Do think that Southgate has reduced a lot of the club rivalry that got in the way of previous iterations, though.

There is at least one player from England in any tactical position right now that would walk right into any starting XI or prove a strong competition for any player in similar position in any team in the world right now regardless of where they rank in the world.

Well well well.....Croatia is up currently, that fight of the smaller Nation is fierce. Grin Grin Grin
this is good news for me  Grin as I had the Netherlands to go through and both teams to score - No, honestly I love this outcome knowing very well my opponent was going to get green here should the Netherlands have won but now we all settle for no point Tongue.

Talking of the smaller nations fight, am looking at the question 9 column of the BSL spreadsheet, its pretty much clear that this result is an upset as most of us expected them to get into the finals, but guess football keeps showing us how unpredictable it can be at times...

Can the Netherlands pull a comeback in the dying minutes of the game, I doubt it...6 minutes of added time to go.

I was here thinking the same as far as question 9 too bro, thats gonna mess up a whole lot. Grin Grin Grin Grin

But that's the genius of the league and the competition.

One would think that since we are a small country with less than 4 mlillion people we generally don't expect much from our players and national team, but reality is quite different.

this is so true, and I can resonate with that

we are also small country, but (in any sport, not just football for the matter) getting qualified for WC, or even getting to later stages of the competitions is taken as a natural thing, not anything big
just when you win something (or in case of bigger sports, finals/medals could be taken in consideration), that is seen as an achievement, all the other results would be just forgotten

You sort of need, to create an English national team that's nice to watch and makes use of their attacking talent, a coach that makes your team feel like you're fighting for your life, and blood and fire, and all that. I would actually really like someone like Simeone to make the team feel like it's them vs the rest of the world, to play with brutal physicality, but with an attacking mentality, of say, France.

What England need is Mourinho to restore the team's winning attitude, which Simeone cannot give. Nothing would change unless they stopped recruiting indigenous coaches. This English coaches are so average

What's the land scale? 4M is the average number of my State population and we are not even top3 populated state.

Lol, now it would be funny if you guys knew how I was scrolling through the past Vegas Knights results and thought, well, they do have games here and there when they score 5 or more, but this game is so important and the Panthers will resist, could very likely end in a 4:2. But a 9:3 I can't even recall I saw a result like that when I checked the results of their last season games.

But whatever, @Woodie and I agreed on this one so no points for anyone Wink

But we have a number of different answers @Woodie, which makes it quite interesting. Hopefully not another draw for me again.

Good luck!
Unbelievable result to be honest,  especially that the previous 2 games were low scoring I was more than sure this trend would continue...a but seems  Vegas Knights had different plans for game 5 to end the Panthers fight of a comeback.

Good thing you chose the same result as me, that was a close one...off to the Nations cup and hoping to have better luck here Wink

What about me?!! I am 2nd in classment

You finished the round 1 with 1 point. You are nowhere near the bonus rewards Grin
I remember you explaining how bonus rewards are calculated to me somewhere here on the thread, maybe this should be include in the first page for everyone to get clarity and help everyone know if they they won a freebet.

Croatia, Belgium, they play with much more national pride (and without pressure probably).
While part about national pridre is true about Croatian player (I would say that's our biggest strength and definitely one of the reasons why we are so good), I am not sure about pressure thing. Unlike England, our clubs are not very important factor in Europe + our league is not very interesting so everyone basically lives for our national team games which results in a lot of pressure.

Do think that Southgate has reduced a lot of the club rivalry that got in the way of previous iterations, though.

What he hasn't succeeded at, and this is why England needs to rethink managerial appointments, is to get them to play without their own delusions of grandeur. I think they take to the field thinking they're really good players. Croatia, Belgium, they play with much more national pride (and without pressure probably).

France probably suffers from this a little, lately Germany and Spain, to me anyway.

But that's an opinion of a couch strategist. Perhaps national psyche has much more to do with England results and eventual pitch performance.

Same reason bro.

I've been wanting to ask this; why is Crotia with limited talents compared to England always doing much better than them at international level? I don't get.

I wouldn't say that Croatia has players with limited talent. Maybe the reason why England's players are considered as more talented is because they come from England whose national league is considered as one of the best. Croatian national league is trash compared to the top European leagues. Maybe that's why Croatian players are never considered as stars.

I mean limited in terms of numbers rather than qualities; the England national team has one of the greatest Unders in football and the most intriguing talents, but once they make the Senior squad, they become trash.

I would say mainly because of our mentality, always the best in important matches and against top opponents plus world class midfield. Not many teams in the world had anything close to Raktić, Modrić, Brozović and Kovačić. That is also England's biggest problem, they have one world class striker in Kane, shitload of world class wingers and nothing in the midfield.

I believe club rivalry is still hurting the England national team, as players usually prioritise their club team mates over others, as happened throughout the eras of Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Rooney, Cole, Terry, and Ferdinand (best era without a trophy), and I believe it is still occurring. .

Also All England players are overrated due to Premier League quality and rule that PL clubs have to have certain amount of English players.

Wow! Most of you went with Netherlands to qualify for the finals. Being from Croatia I couldn't help myself to go with Croatia.

from my point of view, Netherlands are favorite in this duel as hosts, if it is played in Croatia, I would go with Croatia, match can go either way, but being host is a solid advantage
nevertheless, Italy and Spain should be a better duel, but these are glorified friendlies after all, and motivation is questioned, although Italy is motivated by missing WC, and Spain by lousy result on WC, so I decided to go with them for Finals/3rd place

Netherlands changed coach, but I don't see their QF as bad result, so Final should be a good compensation

kudos to Vegas, didn't expect 9 goals from them, win certainly
